Be interesting to see if the new Storm general admission cost now undercover offer eastern stand helps kick the crowd up a notch for the tig's game.
Good move by Stanton to get that bare look off the eastern stand.

You saying the Bulldogs aren't the big boys? The Tigers beat us!

Friday night at Stadium Australia will also have the torch relay and the relighting of the Olympic cauldron, as well as a clash of a couple of the top teams. If I were the NRL I'd be disappointed and shocked if they didn't get at least 40,000 to that one.

Anyway, my tips (for what they're worth, probably not much but I'll have a go anyway):
Bulldogs by 6 - 45,000.
Storm by 8 - 9,500.
Knights by 26 - 20,000. (Is that capacity up there?)
St George-Illawarra by 18 - 14,500.
Canberra by 6 - 14,000.
Penrith by 7 - 13,000.
Brisbane by 14 - 25,000.

The venue in parts is still under reconstruction.

Capacity in recent seasons has been 25,000, at present its around 22,000 but once the upgrade is complete it will go to high 20k's. The next stage of development is then the stand on the opposite side of the ground next year, should more pork from the barrel be forthcoming as expected in an election year.

Nah mate after what happened last time 25 thousand will be good! But more like the early 20 thousand mark will be right! And add to the fact when these two teams played in round 3 there were 26 thousand at the SFS more then 10 thousand of them were Dog supporters who travelled... Roosters never bring more then 2 or 3 tohusand with them!!!

To make it work they need to advise this to the max -
in the paper - not in the little bit about league.
On the TV
Radio.

Anywhere that the average person can hear about it not just people that follow league and read the league parts in the paper etc.

Sydney by 13 - 35 thousand
Melbourne by 12 - 10 thousand
Newcastle by 18- 17 thousand
St George by 4 - 11 thousand
Canberra by 24 - 11 thousand
Penrith by 8- 15 thousand
Brisbane by 18 - 22 thousand

And add to that most roads in and around the Stadium will be closed! Not many people will bother to go if that's the case as tain isn't an option for some people especially when Canterbury Play...

My revised figure for the game... 20,000

Why is that? You would think it'd be all systems go, with free public transports for those pre-purchase tickets.

THis is the second time the Bulldogs crowd will get effected by sources beyond the Dogs control... THe total train stoppage on the day we played BRisbane stopped about 10 thousand from coming... and now this week.

www.bulldogs.com.au has information about what roads will be closed and when etc.

League legends carry Olympic torch

2 June 2004

Two institutions with strong tradition meet on Friday June 4, when three rugby league legends carry the torch for the 2004 Olympic Games.

League legends Arthur Beetson, George Peponis and Jack Gibson will carry the torch around the Telstra Stadium on Friday night before the round 13 NRL clash between the Bulldogs and the Roosters.

After the cauldron has been lit in the stadium, the torch will be passed to George Peponis, the first Canterbury junior to captain Australia while still playing for the club.

George will run to the halfway line on the eastern side of the ground before passing the torch to Arthur Beetson, a Roosters legend who played 132 first grade games for the eastern Sydney club between 1971 and 1978 and led the club to back-to-back premierships.

Arthur will run to the halfway line on the western side of the ground before passing the torch to Jack Gibson, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby league coaches of all time.

Jack will carry the torch around the stadium and out the north-west tunnel.

From Sydney the torch will travel to Melbourne and then to 26 other cities around the world before arriving in Athens for the start of the games.

Rugby league fans are encouraged to support this prestigious event on June 4, which will begin at 7pm just prior to the round 13 NRL match.

Tickets for the round 13 clash between the Bulldogs and the Roosters can be bought from Ticketek or at the gate.

If he couldn't do it in 1980 what makes them think Artie will run tommorow?

:D What a win!:D
The crowd was disappointing but i didn't expect more to come! With all the bad publicity it was never going to get more! It'll take a few games of no trouble to get the people's confidence back! And let me tell you that nothing has happened since the Dogs V Roosters game of round 3 and In fact most supporters have congratulated the Dog supporters on radio and talk boards for our behaviour!!!! The security presence last night was unprecedented in Rugby League history IMO.... It was amazing how many cops were their!

Willie Tonga what more can you say about this bloke! AMAZING... He has been our best player all year and on last nights effort should win himself a Queensland jersey!!! Roosters fans all week were saying Finch is the best halfback in the NRL (who is playing not injured;) ) HAHAHAHAHA Finch is a joke!
