We will slaughter the Pies if we stay injury free and come out with this lineup:

Adcock Merrett Gardiner
Harwood Clarke Rich
Hanley D. Beams Aish
Zorko Close Christensen
Green Staker McStay

Leuey Rockliff Redden

Martin Mayes Taylor C. Beams

Salivating!
Imagine Leuey to D. Beams who proceeds to step around several Collingwood players and kicks it from 60. The riots would break out.

Thought I would do a comparison between our two teams to see how everyone matches up considering both sides have people thinking it will be a smashing either way.

I looked at the Collingwood board to come up with their team. To be honest, I think Collingwood have decent team (mid table, 8-14 range).

That certainly puts our enthusiasm into perspective. The Pies still have a strong side despite their departures. On paper it looks 50/50

Damn! If I knew how to embed videos, I would show you some pretty good highlights from Brent Staker, Daniel McStay and Jono Freeman.
Well that's a shame, because I'm not familiar with their exploits.

Jokes.

But seriously, the above shows what McGuane can do without a gammy knee, which he had for the entirety of the 2014 season proper, including when he actually played. The only other senior body that you listed out of the above is Stakes, and it's 50/50 whether he will even get onto the park again or not.

Close, Freeman et al. need a senior player to provide a buffer, or the bigger defenders in the league will ragdoll the young guys after the first quarter. That's why Merrett was up forward most of the season, and Brownie wanted to go around again this year despite not being able to run, like, at all.

McGuane provides that presence to let Freeman, Close and McStay do their thing.

That's a pretty good write up of our team but i would change Moore out for Broomhead and Crisp out for Freeman

TBF, this is more like McGuane:

Ive seen merret kick them from the boundary. Still doesnt mean they are any good up forward
Yep, if we have to play a "senior body" forward, my order Staker, Merrett, Maguire, Roger Merrett comes out of retirement, that guy that works at the pie stand at home games and then McGuane.

Do you think we'll play Maguire, Gardiner, Clarke, & Merrett against that forward line? I could see Golby playing in the backline. A little harsh on McStay & Bewick too not being in there. A nicer problem than usual to have.

Love the look of that side. I'm a Freeman over Close guy, but would be more than happy for you to forward that team to the match committee.

COLLINGWOOD vs BRISBANE
B: Toovey, Brown, Keeffe
F: Green, Freeman, McStay

HB: Langdon, Reid, Williams
HF: Taylor, Staker, Christensen

C: Swan, Pendlebury, Sidebottom
C: Hanley, Rockliff, Beams

R: Grundy, Adams, Greenwood
R: Leuenberger, Zorko, Redden

HF: Varcoe, White, Fasolo
HB: Rich, Clarke, Adcock

FF: Elliott, Cloke, Moore
B: Harwood, Merrett, Gardiner

I: Witts, Seedsman, Crisp, Thomas
I: Martin, Mayes, Aish, Beams

no need now we've got beams. i'd rather keep rocky in the midfield.
One on one I'd take rocky in a marking contest. He has proved in his times forward he is an excellent one on one mark. In saying the yeah ur probably right with beams going forward and rocky getting his 30+ disposals.

Besides pendlebury I think we have them covered for midfielders.

I love the way how 4 weeks beams was your second best mid and top 15 in the comp. yet now he doesn't run both ways he is shit.

I never said he wasnt good i believe he is a top 15 mid in the comp and was our second best player, but it true he doesnt defend lets his man go free and it killed us last year with our defenders having to cover another man.
