Franklin
Roughead
Hodge
Rioli

Nullify 2 of these players and we will win.

I hope the coach is correct about the 3 ruckmen scenario.

If it costs us, he will be getting a serve from me.

If all 3 play brilliant matches and we still lose, any bets you will still get on here and bang on about how we were too slow and immobile and those three on the park cost us the match.

EDIT: Let me add that if we win by 50 points and they all play terribly, there won't be a peep heard about the issue.

That is an impossibility. If you had a clue you would know that.

That is also an impossibility.

Not sure where all the discussion on possible wet weather for the game is coming from:

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/tas/central-north/launceston

From Weather.com.au

Wind Rain Humid Min Max
SAT Scattered Showers. Morning Clouds. Cool. Windy. 3mm
SUN Light Rain Early. Mostly Sunny. Cool. 1mm

Light showers on the day at worst. Sun should dry out whatever happens in the morning, but this is Tasmania, the weather can change at the drop of a hat.

At the moment in Hobart its cold with medium winds... Was fairly fine today

It's not an impossibility... IF YOU had a clue and knew the definition of impossibility then you would know that (if you want to play semantics FFS).

It's a hypothetical scenario - one that discredits the notion that when we lose it's because we are slow and immobile due to having three ruckmen or whatever.

It doesn't have to be you in that scenario either it could be anyone... it's almost certain that someone will get on here and say we lost because we were slow and immobile.

My point is that it is a cop out excuse that is used too lightly.

You've already lined up what you are going to say if we lose before the game has even started!

Picking North on the strength of the Mitchell out. Definitely is big for us, he's their midfield general. Sewell will offset somewhat but there'd be doubts over his match fitness. If we can play like we did against Sydney in the first 2.5 quarters for the whole game, I think we'll win.

If we played like we did against Sydney in the first 2.5 quarters, for the rest of the game, I think we would have won. ;)

Ooh, CAT FIGHT, CAT FIGHT, everybody CAT FIGHT:thumbsu:

Nah, just a lovers tiff, now removed (for completely derailing the thread!). Back to the squads discussion or back to back at dawn with pistols drawn, far away from BF. Cheers :thumbsu:

Ruckmen won't be the issue for us losing this weekend.

It is more than likely that we will get smashed in the midfield.

Whilst Ziebell, Cunnington and Bastinac look the goods for the future, they are going to have a pretty tough time of it on the weekend.

It's hard to expect too much on them at this stage. I think some of the hype around these guys at the moment is a bit unfair.

To say that Cunnington is a great inclusion to our midfield because he will add hardness is ludicrous. He's an 18 year old kid playing his first game of AFL footy. When it comes to hardness i'm sure the bigger bodies of the likes of Sewell, Hodge and Lewis will most likely win out in the end.

Sewell - 86 kg

Cunnington - 85 kg

A) Sewell is 4cm shorter than Cunnington.

B) As he said, it's a kid playing in his first game. It is ludicrious to be so obvlious as to say that you honestly expect Cunnington to go head to head with one of Sewell, Hodge or even Mitchell in his first game and intimidate them.

1. Where did I claim he would intimidate them?

2. Take your prozac.

1. Sorry, I used the wrong words, you implied that he would beat them in the "hardness" factor.

2. I'm not the one appearing on BigFooty every 35 seconds to re-inforce the fact that I am a one man battlefront in all facets of my existence. Trust me, you'll burn out. :thumbsu:

1. What I "implied" is purely an interpretation that occurs in your mind.

2. I'm flattered that you show such a high level of personal interest in me.

A) Sewell is 4cm shorter than Cunnington.

I like people arguing positives or negatives of player x vs player y based on a few centimeters.

Do you know 4cm is only this much?

_______________

Im not disagreeing that Sewell is harder than Cunnington, I probably wouldnt know, but because he is this ^^^ much taller than Sewell and Sewell is 1kg bigger than Cunners, how does that mean he is harder than Cunnington.

What if Sewell didnt take a dump and slash before weigh-in and Cunners did, maybe we can argue that Cunners is harder if the differential was 2kg Cunners way?

I was merely pointing out that based on the figures he gave me Sewell's body shape is going to be that extra bit bigger than Cunnington's. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I was highlighting that he shouldn't have only put the figures in which suit his argument.

Good points Urmoe.

I think there are a few people that may not have seen Cunnington play yet that are going to get a surprise at how physically adept he is for a youngster.

Swallow is listed at 78 kg which is probably incorrect but I would strongly doubt that he is heavier than Cunnington. Is anybody going to claim that Spitter gets pushed around and lacks physical presence?

I thought that ongoing rumours about Sewell's constipation issues had been put to bed. But here again they re-emerge (for want of a better term). If Sewell was unable to take a dump I would most certainly think he could offer more hardness in the middle, especially at the opening of the contest when pressure is at its greatest. I'm sure its nothing that flooding wouldn't cure.

It could be an interchange stool issue...

I think we all need to be a little aware that the hype over Cunnington this year is a little exaggerated. He isnt going to come in and instantly blitz in the midfield against the stars of the competition.

I have seen him live about 4 times now and each of those times I have come away thinking he has done ok without being a star, then I read reports of him starring in the same games I have just been watching. I can honestly say I went to those games with the specific purpose of watching him play, so I watched him pretty closely.

This kid is going to be a gun player but on this seasons form and coming up against men who are the most physically/athletically hardened and experienced blokes in the AFL and on a very restricted pre-season he is going to take some time.

I would hate for him to be copping some of the same negatives in a few weeks currently being placed on guys like JZ from some quarters just because our expectations far exceed what his output and development should be for a bloke in his situation.

Not so big men also take time.

Hey Urmoe, could you give me an idea about his disposal? Can he kick the ball long distance? i've watched all the Youtube footage of him, disposal looks a little questionable, especially when you compare it to Martin and Morabito. Cunners looks as hard as a cats head, no doubt, but does he have the other much needed tricks. We are desperate for a bloke who can kick the ball with penetration IMO, love the way someone like Spitz goes about his footy for example, but my flipping god i get frustrated with his disposal.....ball takes forever to get where he wants it to go, if it even gets close to the target.

gday, he isnt 'polished' by any means but I think he ensures the ball gets to where it should go.

Distance wise Im not sure he is a big penetrating midfielder but thats not to say he cant kick long, I can't judge as i havent seen him attempt it. From what I have seen he wins the ball in tight and close and probably doesnt have the time to take a big wind up from those hard contested situations.

Havent seen youtube footage so not sure what you have seen, I think he is more than adequate without being outstanding from what I have seen.
