Riddell 1's won by around 18goals and the 2's won by 10 goals I think? Diggers in a bit of trouble if that is there best outfit?

fairly stupid comment.
diggers 1's are currently sitting third, 1 game clear of the competition.
kangaroos are sitting one game underneath us and they copped a 20 goal hiding from riddell.
riddell cannot be beaten imo, so how are the burras in trouble?

No more trouble than the rest of the comp. Something about an "aura" omni?

Just an observers view I think the full backs would prefer to play on James less likely to get belted from behind.[/QUOTE

Being a bit harsh there Halfful. Saw Werner cop a lot more than he gave out. Like A James he had to put up with incredible attention both on & off field. Definitely ran thru a few poor blokes Plugger style when they dropped in hole and split a blokes head open with a raised elbow at Kangaroos one day which was low act but i know for fact it was a square up from earlier in day.
As far as Mongrels question, i agree. I think Jamesy is right up there with Werner cause he is virtually unstoppable in a good side. Hawkins was also a very good player but not quite in league of other 2.

Rest my case, yet to see or hear of Slugga belting anyone if you stand in front of him he jumps over the top the ball is his object not his reputation.

Fair enough, but are you trying to win a flag? Or happy with finishing 3rd?

Well done joe, "YOU" get it !
But it would seem the Bombers dont need to talk themselves up...... Everyone else is doing that job for them !
But Finals are a different ball game though pal & as we saw last season in 3 seperate comps', no team is a dead set certainty !
The Hawkers are travelling along very nicely thank you very much & the boys from Catland are flying under the radar, improving with every game.
Who knows I think there may just be a few surprises left in '08 around the RDFL.

I just wish the Boys at League Headquarters had have fixtured a couple of stand alone Sunday game "Blockbusters" so more of us could get along & see some ripping contests. ie... Rnd 11 Macedon v Woodend, Rnd 12 Riddell v Woodend or Rnd 13 Macedon v Riddell just to name a few.

Lancefield and Macedon had big wins on the weekend. Are they the real stuff? Can they push Diggers, Romsey, Kilmore, Sunbury to get a finals spot? Can we assume Wallan is out of it? Still a lot to be answered. A big few months ahead!!

Omni - I think you said after the Riddell / Macedon game early in the year that both Macedon sides would make the finals. You might be right, I just checked and all 3 of their sides are in their respective 6s. Still early but they are a different club from the wooden spooners of last year.

Agree, i personally dont think Hawkins was anywhere near James or Werner.

I think it was 1998 Werner kicked 176 goals which included a bag of 28 against poor old North Faulkner.

I dont agree with Halfuls comments about Mick belting blokes from behind , I cant remember him missing many games through Suspension.

Hey Omni

The League does not fixture ANY Sunday games. It is up to the clubs to discuss between themselves and request the Sunday fixtures. The League is more than happy to have blockbuster Sundays, if the clubs are willing.

Perhaps you should get onto the relevant clubs instead! :):)

Fair points you make ......... about the bombers v diggers game,

Diggers beat cats by 5pts (home) ...beat pies by 3pts...(away)

Hawks beat beat pies 72 pts (home) ...

Kilmore beat pies 8pts (home).. 10-7-67 to 8-11-59

I think you are selling the Hawks very short to only win by a couple of goals.

>>>>>form has everything to do with it ....... Be fair when you tip ..if you said 6 or 7 goals that would be near the mark (just) .

Matt can you use form now in future ..... when you tip ...... :thumbsu:

Matt can you use form now in future

If I had of known it was going to be quagmire at Gilbert Gordon I would have picked the Hawks by 50 or 60. Simon Choate and Rick Dowling can back me up on that. I told them on Saturday morning that I thought Kilmore would get flogged when I saw the weather. The Blues are a fast track side and to be honest, not much of one at that. Woodend-Hesket were bloody impressive and although I still don't think they can beat Riddell, they are by far the second best unit in the competition. Mick Lacy, in conditions that didn't suit, just dominated. Jay Downing eats mud and loves the hard stuff. Donovan was also impressive, and Barker was good when it mattered (kicked three of the first four goals in the opening five minutes). Ng didn't get much of it himself, but the Hawks gave it to him with purpose and he used his sublime skills and footy smarts to set his side up. Didn't see much of the second half, booted down to Lancefield Park, and saw the Tigers put on a pretty good display. Simmo was terrible, but the Magpies had to keep their mouths shut. May have changed the game, but I said at three-quarter-time that Lancefield would have the legs and they did. Great to see the Cats get up over Romsey, and that's not a dig at the Redbacks, but a lot of people have been working their arses off at Tony Clarke in recent years for little reward, and its good to see Macedon getting some results. Riddell = too bloody good. They would match Gisborne if the sides played tomorrow. Centrals continue to fly under the radar, might not be their year but they are a "dangerous side", to quote Mark Harvey.

This is how the top five will probably finish in my opinion:
Riddell - undefeated
W/Hesket - two losses to Riddell
Diggers Rest - better than pretty much most sides
Macedon - just starting to hit their straps, will beat Kilmore
Kilmore - may sneak in because of favourable draw
SIXTH POSITION
Could be anyone except Rockbank and Wallan. I think the Kangas will take it, but Lancefield, Romsey and Melton Central all have an opportunity.

Tip for all players: buy a pair of long-stop footy boots. The drought may not have broken but Kilmore were made to look like a pack of geese by wearing prima-donnaish moulded boots. The Hawks all had the right boots and were able to keep their feet in the contests.

No. The geographics of Riddell suggest they won't be able to keep this form up over a long period of time. It's up to the other clubs to improve.

Fact is the other clubs dont have Riddells budget,to be competitive,I witnessed Macedons flogging of the Redbacks on saturday, the cats played a very good brand of football in the wet conditions, close to the best side Romsey have met this season

As a punter, I know that form can be handy, but often it doesn't stand up. It's best to back your instincts. Like I said, if it had of been a dry track, I think the game would have been closer. The Blues lack the strong bodies (or the ones with the strong bodies refuse to use them) and therefore I thought the Hawks would win by more in the wet.

We have had simmo 5 out of 9 games this year and you are correct their were 2 of them at one stage but thank god there is only 1 left and i would have to say that his time might be coming to the end.

There is a myth going around Big Footy that there is only 1 Semmo umpring. Both brothers still umpire l asked one of them 2 weeks ago.

What has his comment got to do with the Kangaroos?? He is a Riddell person...

nothing. im just pointing out the fact that riddell have been thumping everyone including the kangaroos who are in a similar position to diggers, so there was no need to single out diggers as being "in trouble".

and as for being happy with finishing third, of course not, but at the same time i am a realist and riddell are a country mile ahead of every other team in the comp at the moment.

i thought one of them must have hung up the boots after the big G-train Garth Ploog put him on his a..e last year!! Acted like he had been shot too.:) one of the funniest things i have seen on the field in my short time.:)

A mate at work went along to the Lancefield/Wallan clash as my mob had a bye, said the umpiring was the worst he'd seen this season. He did say Lancefield still woulda won the game regardless but it (umpiring) took a fair bit away from the spectacle for those that paid to get in.

Mate reckons the ump in question loves being the centre of attention and once any team (or it's bench) start questioning decisions, 9 time out of 10 you'll suffer for the day.

In your infinite wisdom oeb, could you please let us all in on how much Riddells budget is and where you get your FACTS, this would be of great interest to me and I'm sure other clubs too, as over the past couple of months everyone has had an opinion about it and like I have stated in an earlier post, maybe it is who they pay and not how much!!!! If you can't back it up with some cold hard facts PULL YOUR HEAD IN and stop whingeing.

Who's the new player @ the cat's ....... from the GFL ..... $$$

Jimmy McArthur, think he is about 20yrs old mate. Has a brother that plays in the VFL (Williamstown or Sandringham I think). To quote one of the spectators at the match on Saturday "is one of the best forwards in the competition". So a great pickup for the Cats. Make sure you read this Saturday's RDFL record regarding Macedon.
