Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

The current award is rookie of the year and follows a set criteria around Age, Games Played, leadership, sportsmanship etc..

Last years winner was Dave Cornish from Kilmore.

The only problem I have is that the word "Rookie" could mean anyone that is in their first season... Thats why the award should be Rising Star..

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

im fairly sure kenny ingram wont qualify for the rising star award:eek:

Got a message from a former team mate of Ken's today suggesting they doubt he'll even qualify for finals, seems a few at Nagambie are disappointed at the one game he played 2-3 years back before walking out.

Let's not forget "Bear" played one, possibly two seasons in the RDFL at Craigieburn. I think it was back in 1994/1995 if memory serves me correctly.

Did he win it back then, could he win it twice

Aker

He played with Craigieburn in 2000 for sure as I enjoyed attempting to 'run with role' the big fella. He has a great ability to find the footy which I don't believe would disappear overnight regardless of his age. Could be a good mentor to some of the younger players at the club.

Cheers,
Sloth

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Hey Guys
Just moved to Kilmore from Melbourne (although ex Seymour boy), and looking to play in 2008. From the guys who know, where should I play? Kilmore or Wallan?

I've had the past few years off, so won't be setting the place on fire, but without being a d**khead, I can play and with fitness and touch should be good enough for the club to be happy with me.

Thanks for your help.

A few blokes from down this way head to Seymour to play Rgs011, 4 flags in a row would be good to be part of :thumbsu:

Up to 16 new 'senior' players apparently. Looks like a whole new outfit for '08.

Come give wallan a crack, we would be most welcome to have you come down for a kick. We've only just come back into the league and now got netball sides up and the place is buzzing with enthusiasm for the new season which we havn't had for a few years. If interested we start back at training on wed 30th jan:thumbsu:

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Even though we have only just come back into the league and i probably dont know as much about players or the sides as all of you. I have followed the league and even watched a few games involving kilmore and romsey over the last few years, so here's my pre season predictions for 2008

LADDER
Riddell
Kilmore
Woodend
Wallan
Sunbury

Macedon
Romsey
Diggers Rest
Lancefield
Melton Central
Rockbank

PREMIERS
Like to say wallan but probably riddell

RUNNERS UP
Sunbury

BOWEN
Blake Whiteway (wallan)
Bellville (riddell)

BIGGEST MOVERS
Macedon

BIGGEST SLIDERS
Diggers Rest

ROOKIE
Shannon Galea (wallan)

PLAYER TO WATCH
Blake Whiteway

Thanks Sloth. He must have had two stints there then, as I distinctly recall playing on the man mountain as a 17 y.o when the RDFL still had two divisions.

I have heard that Harrison is headed to Lancefield, but he has been a solid forward/winger for the past 3 years...
