Last week the league released to all clubs that any abuse towards umpires will not be tolerated, players will be sent from the feild and senior players reported after 1 warning. Some will say this is going too far, perhaps it is, BUT remember if all players know about these rules it comes down to disipline, everybody gets frustrated it comes down to holding it in. on the other hand if players cant show it, alot of players will start to get hurt as the frustration will turn into physical anger. maybe after recent comments on umpires in this forum, umpires should look at why questions are being asked

Well done to Scooter Rowsell and his troops , huge win over ladder leaders Diggers , puts to rest any doubts i had about this bloke being able to coach at this level . I think he is worth every cent he gets [apparently big money] . he may have to take my advice and promote young gun Luke [boonga] Mcaskill , after the suspension of Mick Gadsden this week . Speaking to a couple of Riddell supporters yesterday they thought Diggers where pretty soft on the weekend , anyone at the game care to comment ?

big call from the riddell supporters u refer to... i think diggers can never be accused of being soft in all there time under Glen Hopkins. I think riddell just played better wet whether football and diggers tried to play dry whether football it was as simple as that. All congratulations to riddell they showed that come spetember they will be right in the mix , but i think diggers will respond and be spured on by this loss and will be a huge threath come Septemeber

Bombers just played fantastic wet weather footy and there forward line functioned alot better.General plqay was actually pretty even but the Bombers played it very well with an open forward ;ine.Burra probably a bit top heavy for the conditions. You would have thought the conditions wouyld suit Diggers style but Riddell were fantastic. Not sure anyone could justify calling Diggers soft.Pride themselves on there attack on the footy which is the reason they have only lost 4 of there last 28 games.Had an off day and the bombers were sensational nd probably now rightful flag favourites.

I'm not sure if Riddell are now flag favourites. After all saturday's conditions were not typical over the last few season's. If september produces some dry sunny days i think we'll see a different result.

Dont be surprised, Riddell will be ready to fire come september but that cant be judged on last saturday, diggers have finally shown a weak point and that is that they dont like it wet, and when they make the big one will pray for nothing but sunshine.
The hawks and Roos showed that they can still play in the wet with both sides having good 7 goal wins, the roos started slowly at Lake Macedon but finished well keeping macedon to only 1 goal after half time. Dont count out the roos The next big 4 weeks will test them and show everyone if the'll be competitive
Kilmore H, Romsey A, Woodend A, Riddell H, Rockbank H. Will it be a different story this time round?
Romsey Riddelled with injury are only 5th by 2 points but rockbank this week will not put pressure on to rush anybody back, where will they finish still to play 2 bottom sides. Rockbank H, Roos H, Lancefeild A, Woodend H, Riddell A

Pfft the wet comes down to who is up for it on the day.Last year in similar conditions the reverse happened.Dont disregard Riddells performance.Wet or dry they would have won on the weekend as they are a quality unit and are building nicely. They had no impact from Gadsden and Blade didn't play so they will get even better.

Diggers beat Riddell in the wet last year and also early this year in muddy conditions. Also beat Kangas in round 3 in a game that had drizzle for pretty much the entire game.

Lake Macedon is a bit harsh, hope you had a look at the Gisborne oval and other surrounding ovals !!!!!

Not harsh at all, there was a river running down the middle of the ground. Not to say that other grounds didnt suffer.

shocking news to come from the kilmore game on saturday.... Star player Matthew Robertson has done his AC joint n looks very likely to miss the remainder of the season... this is a blow to kilmores finals aspirations... hede also been injured last 3 weeks with shoulder injury tryed 2 play on w/e but was **** house ...

Thats bad news for Kilmore, but i have to say that even if these players were fit the roos have too much to loose this week and i can guarantee will do everything possible to win and win well... if you have a look at the roos and woodends comming matches it appears that there will almost certainly be a third place playoff in 3 weeks when the two sides meet at woodend... not to disregard romsey but thats loss to kilmore isnt going to help... itll come down to that game i believe and looking at the lineups of both sides and going on previous meetings i think we might see the roos grab third spot in a tight one... but get to the game if you can... this one will be huge.

Terrible news for kilmore, and robbo more so, never good hearing about these types of injuries. But the roos still wouldn't want to take them lightly, this week could cement a spot in history for the roos senior side.
Your right about woodend being a massive game for both, playing for 3rd not sure about that, big chance. dont forget Romsey still play Rockbank and Lancefeild before then, this will leave us with a very exciting last 3 rounds of football this season.
Will the top 5 positions now be musical chairs with kilmore now without robbo going to find it hard, he is only 1 player of 22, but he is a gun.

i think that would be the first game diggers have lost in the wet since glenn has been coaching. beat riddell last year in same conditions when they were looking unbeatable. one game never makes a difference unless its the last game of the year. riddell were sensational and id say that would be the best performance of the year.

sorry to here about robbo he is a gun and would have been a chance in the bowen this year

Speaking of Lake Macedon, i'm surprised that no one that was at that game has mentioned the bump on Ian Dobeson by James House. My spies tell me he should have got 6 weeks ??

no one has mentioned it because there is nothing to mention. do your spies sit on the tribunal or are umpires, 6 weeks you say. You would have to just about kill a bloke to get that, i didn't see anything that was not a fair bump.

Talk has it that fawkner are leaving DVFL, does anybody know if they are folding or looking for another league, what chance would it be that they want back into the RDFL. Not sure if we would want them back if that was the case.

Nah didnt see that one... big games this week looking forward to the action...

my source's tell me that Woodend are struggling to get player's to training. Evidently only roughly 20 each night and that includes the under 18's.Players have lost interest and are only playing for themselves.Expect Diggers to pump them this week. 10 senior players are out and they are going to play most of their kids!

Some really big games this week.

Obviously we will account for Rockbank, and Riddell should give the Cats a football lesson. But the other three games are huge in the context of the finals.

Sunbury v Kilmore

More often than not Kilmore are disregarded as a force in his league. I saw them play against us on Saturday and gee they have some excellent young players. What's better is that 98% percent of the squad is from the local area. If James makes his return this week then the Blues will need to play their absolute best to beat the Roos, but I wouldn't put it past them.
From what I have read, don't expect to see Matt Robertson playing this weekend, but they still have a good enough 22 to match it with every club.
The game should be decided by 2-3 goals. I'm tipping Kilmore in an upset.

Lancefield v Melton Central

While these two sides have nothing to play for except pride. I'm sure the Tigers will be wanting to get above Macedon on the ladder. Melton Central should be playing some of their younger players now they are out of finals contention and we should see a fast paced game. Over 11 players have made thier senior debut at Lancefield this season, which should see them in good stead next season if they recruit a few handy players. The Centrals should be looking to rebuild after four years on the fringe of a top finals placing with no success. Don't be surprised if Lancefield win, but I'll tip Melton to win by 10 points.

Woodend-Hesket v Diggers Rest

The Burra will be desperate to make amends for last week's poor performance, and make sure they secure top position on the ladder. Woodend-Hesket are sure to be eyeing off a top-three berth, and although their numbers at training haven't been strong, I wouldn't write them off.
Mick Goodyear is starting to find the form that eluded him early in the season, while they have some class players such as Kar Weng Ng and Rick Dowling. Some of the best young players can be seen in a brown and gold jumper on Saturday afternoons, and the home ground advantage will suit them. I don't know if Diggers are suspect in wet conditions, but if they are they will find it a hard slog at Woodend. The Hawks' ground is infamous for its failure to dry out in winter, and even if their is no mid-week rain, it will still be muddy on Saturday. I can't see the Burra losing this, but it wont be an easy task. Diggers Rest by 14 points.

You must play 5 games for the club to qualify, did he fight it and cop more

Did not fight it - it went straight to the tribunal and they gave him 4. What a joke of a system! Your better off punching someone than telling the umpires where to go. Lucky he has played 2 reserves games and 2 senior games as he comes back in the last round. Just qualifies.

It's only going to get worse if we all make a big deal out of it......especially coming up to run home and finals with 6 teams a chance to play off, it might not be injuries that we all have to worry about. We don't need to be loosing big names from the league from suspension's, whether your opinion is guilty or not, hate to miss good players in action!

fair enough i relise that missing good players hinders the league.... but youve gotta ask yourself " how hard is it to get people to take up umpiring in the first place" i know it can get frustrating out there but u choose to play the game and uv just gotta put up and shut up coz what would you rather.... have a crack at an ump n look like the big tough guy and miss importaint matches just coz ur tryn to pick someone so you can look macho... or swallow your pride and remember the rest of the blokes your letting down by not being out there.... ask yourself "what means more to you.... being a hero for two minutes or your teammates and your club??"

How have the grounds been in the RDFL this season.

so far the grounds have been not too bad from what i've seen, last week would have destroyed the surface on alot, sunbury were lucky last week no senior games on saturday and no junior games on the sunday, macedon turned to mud in some areas but overall it should recover providing not too much rain.
