Don't forget you don't have to accept their penalty.

You still have the option of taking it to the tribunal. If he was to get three weeks from a one week suspension of shaking the goal post, it's likely he would get just the one at the tribunal. If his previous two suspensions were for the same incident, he would likely keep the three.

I think it's a good rule, there is still an incentive to take the set penalty, but you have the option of fighting it. I don't think the league is likely to put an extra week on your charge for fighting and losing the case - like the AFL do occasionally.

Haven't been to our tribunal Purple???

it doesn't matter where he gets the week, tribunal or set penaly, any penalty received gets multiplied by the amount of convictions in that year. It is the biggest crock OS ever. if a player has been rubbed out twice for say swearing and say tripping. they would have to run away from any signs of a malee, because then it's in the umps hands and could cop 2 for wrestling multiplied by 3.

Thats easy to say TS but how do you know these types of boys are just wanting personal glory?
Maybe they just want to play footy with their good mates as once they are finished age grouped competition they can play seniors for the next 20 years.
This very situation happened with myself a few years back with senior coach wanting me and a few other boys to play seniors but we all chose to play one last year together with all our friends. it had nothing to do with personal glory (as there was none) we just wanted to have fun playing with mates

When you did it what position were the senior side in???? Were they a contender... I dont think so... They were quite possibly the bottom side if im correct in reading where this originates... In that case there was no incentive at that stage to play seniors... Hell, in that environment I wouldn't of either.. No doubt playing with mates is a draw card, but so is making new mates.... And being involved in the bigger picture, which I believe dweeb, you eventually became, am I right? But wat you guys did was rare, and extremely courageous, and now look at wat has happened... Most in that situation would have walked away and straight into a more successful environment. I dont think this is the case is all im saying with these guys... I agree that they are prob playing with their mates.. no doubt, but my other point is they have been doing that for a long time now, again a different situation to yours, and the possibility of Senior success as an under age player beckons.. Maybe it should be taken :thumbsu:

Especially when the umpire may just be watching you more than the crowd is... Everyone wants thier 15 mins of glory....

It's fair to say I shut my mouth and keep my head down on the field. No need to create a name for myself. As long as I get the job done then I'm happy.

So it's also fair to say I've never been to a tribunal hearing.

The league doesn't like rubbing out blokes, but the harsher the penalites imposed then surely the less likely blokes are going to stuff up.

Knowing the rules, you would be an idiot to break the rules (apart from giving free kicks away) on the field in front of an umpire. The RDFL is seemingly trying to bring back discipline, if it means blokes get rubbed out for an extra week for stupidity then I'm for it.

Clubs should tell the players the rules, the system and most importantly NOT TO STUFF UP! For example, if Aaron James got a two week suspension in Round 18 I'm sure the Kangaroos wouldn't be happy. Luckily his mid-season suspensions won't hurt the club too much. However, any minor indiscression now may see him cop a week he might not have gotten if he had a good record. You can look at it in a number of ways.

Havent paid much attention lately to the games but woul d like some reports on a few players if it is possible..? Firast Matt welsh wondering how he is travelling ? Jacko how has his form been recently? Ellery where is he? And my man cam watson? the man who holds sunbury together when he is firing:thumbsu:

i couldn't see those guys making the move, seem very comfortable but??? JF.VAFA hard to chase players when there is no money in the VAFA :D
The boys are going well matt has been injured most of the year the others haven't been standouts but put in when required.

No great suprises on the weekend and is safe to say the ladder will finish as is. Riddell back to intimidating form!!! Diggers continue on their merry way, woodend get up in a tough match and the kangas cop the full brunt of the bombers. Crisis talks down at sunbury?

If the ladder finishes the way it stands currently, where and who will play in the first finals???

What players do we find it hard to play against? Being from Rockbank seniors, we find it hard against everyone.

I have played with Rockbank all my life, enjoy it throughly. Although we lose each week, I find it very enjoyable.

yeah i played for rockbank and we were not to bad for a year in all 3 grades when lowy brought all those players down to the club, then he left with like 15 players to go to seddon thats when rockbank went back to the bottom of the ladder and there trying to build up again.

the under 18's were usually the strongest side there i remember playing there for 3 years made finals and were unlucky on a couple of years not to make grand final.

how is trav hede goin?
is he gettin a kick?

Noticed he was named best in Kilmore's win over Lancefield yesty. Saw him do some nice things early in the year that caught me eye - maybe a Kilmore poster like van or one of them can inform us of his efforts in recent times.

ur assuming romsey will get over the top of riddell this weekend , hope so but the way the ladder stands at the minute you will infact find riddell having the 1st week off and Diggers playing Woodend in the first round of the finals

Diggers vs wood at melton.
Dont assume, it would depend who play melton in the reserves more likely to play at riddell melton wont get a home ground advantage. If melton play sunbury in the reserves your right but still 3 sides can drop to 4th in the 2s.

Very true but the league will try to keep teams from 1 club together, and centrals will not play at home. that was my point.

I overheard a conversation that Fawkner and Jacana were going to merge and try and get into the Riddal League. Has anyone around the RDFL heard this.

By the sound of it he went better than those kangaroos without their "main man" A. James, thread has gone pretty quiet in the the last couple of weeks, does anyone know any reasons for this......?

when does the team of the year actually get selected?? surely we will get some inside info about the team before the bowen medal night

Great win from the cattery! Ending the Centrals finals hopes.

Odds for this years premiership.

Riddell $1.20
Diggers $3.50
Woodend $13.00
Sunbury $25.00
Romsey $25.00

I'll have $50 on Woodend-Hesket at 12-1, Plus $100 on a Bombers-Hawks GF quinella if you can give me better than 4-1. Also $100 on a Bombers-Redbacks GF quinella if I can get 12-1.
