A club shooting themselves in the foot?? Well who woulda thought

A kyneton mate just told me it’s a case of when it’s no longer about the game and more about forming a minority group political party it’s doomed

Couldn’t agree more Roota - sounds like this newly formed club might have shot themselves in the foot already. Be interested to see how it develops, like where they will be based, what league they will be in, just for a start. Sounds a case of shooting first, thinking second, which isn’t a great strategy you wouldn’t think.

so do your womens teams not fall under the local club.
down here all our clubs who field ladies teams are part of the one club.

some do it better than others but from what i can tell nothing divisive or major issues.
more often than not it might be training times and changerroms etc due to not enough facilities but most clubs find a way.

That’s not true to my understanding just to correct you.

Don’t believe everything you read on hear. Never known South not to pay players.

Also to hold current players you be actively recruiting to become better otherwise your digging a big hole. Players get excited about these types of signings even if they happen to be waiting. That’s what

That’s not true to my understanding just to correct you. Cheers
Hey TM, can you confirm if the players from 2024 have been paid yet….. a few grumblings behind the scenes is what I’ve been told.

To the best of my knowledge all clubs that had women’s teams in the Rdfnl in 2024 played under the same banner.
A lot of the Kyneton women’s team from 2024 have decided to start their own club.
It has been reported the “original “ Kyneton team are also planning to field a women’s side in 2025.

wow two Kyneton teams.
must be a lot of interest our that way.
Not directly stated, but reading between the lines in the local papers it’s obvious there’s been a pretty significant philosophical falling out with the Kyneton Football Netball Club.

The new club statement reads.
“this move reflects their dedication to fostering a strong, inclusive and supporting environment where women and gender diverse players can thrive”.

ouch. i retract previous comment about growing interest.
hopefully it can get sorted as no one wins in this situation, especially a new entity without appropriate support.
The Rdfnl has different rules regarding diversity inclusion than the AFLW.
Some people think the rules in the Rdfnl should be the same in this regard as the AFLW rules.
I think this is the reason behind the “split” at Kyneton.

From reading a few articles, sounds like the Kyneton FNC still are intending to have a team as they’ve done the past few years - but a bunch of previous players in that team have decided they can do things better and go alone. You’d hope they’ve done the ground work first, like working out where they will be based, have a league willing to take them, sufficient financial backing to start up, enough players etc etc before they made their decision. If not, as Roota pointed out quite rightly, they may have already shot themselves in the foot.

there are rules around diversity inclusion?
i really are out of touch i didnt realise this was a thing.
always thought it was just offer an open door to anyone and everyone make them feel welcome and the conversations and experiences from then on would drive and determine the desired culture.

local level open age womens football is still relatively new in some regions and the pc folk need to breathe.
otherwise a divided community with two teams but not enough participants to fill both is disaster.
too late to reconsider I assume.

Word from a close kyneton contact is that the swamp has been drained. Only two years ago and the club was the most inclusive in the land. Appears the club was being blamed for having their raffle draw on the same day as the girls grand final. Mind you, this raffle date is set seven months prior. There were also some shocking sabotage attempts from the women’s team with sponsors etc and the relationship couldn’t be resurrected.
