Man, this Ablett situation is just ****ed. It's hard to hate Gary for taking 9.5 million over 5 years, but the fact the GC can throw that much money at him is ridiculous. I'd be pisssssed off if I was a Geelong fan.

so after this, will ablett be regarded as a mercenary like judd?

judd used to be one of the most popular players in the league at WCE, now most detest him.

I love the fact that Judd got the whole mercenary claims for a few 100 thousand extra, where as Ablett has doubled his salary and left purely for money and most people are saying "can't blame him for taking that".

I've definitely lost some respect for Gablett.

Blight said a couple of weeks ago to not believe the numbers being thrown around for any of the players going to the GC, they aren't even in the ball park (and from memory McKenna said something similar)

On a side note I never labeled Judd a mercenary, just a robot who missed his mummy.

Interesting. If it's less money (or much less), then I won't blame the AFL as much for this, but Ablett comes out looking a lot worse.

No brainer for me, but hey each to their own.

One thing I know, I won't be getting GAj in SC 2011, just won't have the hard bodies around him to help him out like he did at Geelong . :D
 
really though, ablett would've been on around 750-850k at the cats (+ whatever he gets from sponsorship). it's not like he desperately needs the money.

then people say 'well your football career only lasts 15 years, so you have to maximise you earnings'. but after he retires he can get pretty much any piss easy media job he wants and get paid handsomely for it.

i can understand some of the lesser players like rischetelli going there, though.

Over time they might, but I reckon his first visit to Kardinia Park in the red and yellow will be pretty heated.
