Sorry to have to start up such a thread to cap off what has been a very very succesfull week for our beloved club with the recruitings of both Judd and Hadley to bolster our side for next season .. but it must be said .. from reading some of the comments on our forum some of you are deluded regarding PSD and who our selection should be.

I'll keep it short: those of you who wouldnt consider Jarred Brennan for free in the PSD must be living in some sort of fantasy land where we are top 4 contenders.

Fact is, Jarred Brennan has talent and X factor coming our of his ass and has played in experienced sides to boot. Could you imagine our side with both Walker and Brennan on one flank each ? Brennan also has the 2nd highest vertical leap in Draft Camp history (2nd only to Trent Croad) - meaning he can play on talls.

Could you imagine a forward line of: Brennan, Fev, Waite... and what potential damage that could cause to sides. Face it, when a #3 draft pick with the amount of abillity Jarred has comes for free .. you don't know it back because he's a temperamental type of player.

Vote 1 - Jarred Brennan for the PSD.

More than us now, that's for sure. We do have room for another good player Swann said, but if the Tigers reckoned they could fit Judd in, they would have to get into a bidding war with us and could win if prepared to pay over the odds.

Richmond stated today on SEN that they had somebody else in mind and Brennan was not their priority in the PSD. Very likely we could end up with him if the Tigers were to get their unnamed man...

Oh and btw, C4 i agree with you totally. Jarred Brennan wasn't allowed to settle at the lions, and would do wonders for us in the forward line with Kennedy's absence. Fisher, Fevola, Brennan, Waite...versatile and dangerous. I don't think teams will like lining up on that. With a forward line like that, plus our midfield, the only real issue would be our backline...that is by far our biggest weakness.

It may surprise some, but it's a no thanks from me. Sure he's a classy player, shown by the 6 goals he kicked in a game this year, but in almost every game i've seen him play he has been very lethargic and lazy. He needs to lift his game quite dramatically, particularly because his poor work rate reflects poorly on his on field attitude.

Another thing i've noted is that he is too 'flashy' for his own good and tries to perform the miraculous when he could just perform a simplistic pass. This often works him into trouble and, as a consequence, is often caught.

No doubt he possesses amazing ability, but if he is to fulfill any of it he must change his approach towards how he plays the game.

- he started the 2007 season with the most uncontested possession in the comp, to which 75% were kicks backwards between him and Merritt.....where was his man??
- We all know Carlton over the past few years haven't been good at picking up their men and tht is one reason we have got smashed
- then he was dropped and came back as a forward, had some really good games and then dropped off...he is inconsistent and only a few years back wasn't sure if he wanted to play AFL....
- I hear that Drummond from Brisbane might be in the PSD, he is a solid ball magnet who has the ability to play half back (Scotland type), imagine having your half line of Scotland, Thorton, Drummond, Walker, O’hAilpin, Houlihan just repelling the ball back up forward to the gun forward of the competition
- Our forward line is set up just nice with the best FF in the league and the best kick for goal in the league….imagine the delivery to Fev from Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Carrazzo, Gibbs and Stevens, he’ll go close to kicking 100 in the next few years….add his support of Waite, Fisher, Betts, and resting up forward you will have Judd and Stevens??
- In 2008 players are actually going to be competing for their positions!!!

Brennan's a freak who can play forward and back, would be an awesome get -if he even wanted to move to victoria - not sure he would. Lions won't let him go though, i'd be surprised.

Meh - he'd be well in front of what's usually on offer in the PSD, but he's not all that. A flashy player - which is probably why some overrate him. Goes missing for games and lacks consistency -although his second half of 07 he improved in that area.

All in all - he's just a poor man's Waite. Worse all round, probably more capable of the freakish but also more inconsistent. He'd be handy to have up forward, but personally I'd rather play Fev, Waite, Fish + try Harts at CHF as our four talls. Wouldn't consider him down back - if the club envisions Waite as a long term defender, then Brennan would definitely be handy up forward.

There are five clubs looking to aquire his services, with Richmond, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton.

Seems Carlton are the most stand offish that this point and want to wait before who deciding who they want to commit to.

You'd have to say Richmond would get him unless another talent found it's way into the draft. Perhaps Carlton have someone else in mind and are waiting for Richmond to nominate someone before they announce it. We will see.
