Recfooty at AFL Victoria is still on the agenda, being one of the roles outlined as part of the restructing of the State Body. The job will come under the umbrella of a new role:

Operations & Recreational Football Officer:

Overview of the Operations & Recreational Football Officer Role
The key role of the Football Operations Administration Officer is to provide
administrative support to the VFL General Manager and AFL Victoria’s Operations
Manager in the conduct of the VFL and TAC Cup competitions.
A requirement of the role is to attend all VFL finals in September and to attend all
Tribunal meetings.
The secondary focus of the role is to develop the game of AFL Recreational Football

Tell me about this fight...

:)
It was between Adrian Anderson's team, AFL Mascots (he wasn't playing which means I liked them that night) and A Little Rusty, the team who were sledging Drew when we played them last year and had the Draw against this year. Apparently one of the AFL Mascots had been pushing/niggling his opponent all game, so he decided to take matters into his own hands, and charged the bloke from behind with an elbow. The umpire has seen it, unfortunately so have half the players on the field and before the young ump can do much to intervene all hell has broken loose. The instigator gets yellow carded and as he's walking off the Mascot's captain, Tony, is giving him an absolute gobful, which was pretty damn funny to watch I might add.

Hi everyone,

I am new to all of this so bare with me! I have read about the Rec Footy comp and think the concept is good and really would like to play. Don't really know much of the details apart from a rough overview of rules. I am coming back from a knee reco so need something to ease into.

So is there another comp running soon and what is it like? If it is as bad as a couple of posters have said can it be fixed? Like can the organisers be organised??!!! It just looks like a great concept and I would love to play! I must sound crazy!

If you could give me an indication about Rec Footy that would be awesome! Happy New Year to everyone also!

Thanks Aker2008

Hi Aker2008,
Welcome and hope you do get a chance to particpate in an 'organised, proper' competition in '08.

The main issues we've experienced while playing this game, is the Competition Organisers (in the Western Suburbs); they don't know much about the game, umpiring and also updating websites with game results etc.

Also, there isn't much visibility from the AFL in terms of support for the Comp (apart from supplying Game Bibs, and Footballs).

Finding a ground was an issue this season, and can I suggest that if they do proceed with a new comp in 2008 at the same ground we played on this season, DO NOT PLAY. Especially when you're recovering from a Knee Re-Co, as you'll probably re-injure yourself!! (The ground is as hard as a rock!)

For updates, I'd suggest to check this thread every so often and also:

Good Luck!

(PS: Raw Toast, if you're out there, and haven't read my post yet (posted in this thread just after you're GF, please have a read - interested to see what ideas you have for 2008 and your thoughts on my post)

Cheers and Happy New Year to all!!,

(Go Hawks in 2008) :)

Hey guys, does anyone know if there will be a new summer comp and if so when it starts? We were meant to play this season but missed rego and are keen to play next season.

Just been informed that there won't be a summer season this year due to a lack of grounds because of the doubt.

The good news is that the club aims to produce a revamped comp in Spring back on the Whitten Oval.

Thanks for that Raw Toast. So I guess we'll all see each other again later in the year for a new season of Rec Footy.
Cheers!
H4L
