Well it seems like the newly announced reforms have to be reformed already.

Must have been well thought out this policy, not like the threw it together to deflect from pink batts, boats, BER etc.

As Gerry Jarvey said, 'bloody amateurs'.

KEVIN Rudd has abandoned the top layer in his $50 billion health reform plan, scrapping the National Funding Authority, which was to oversee payments to the states as part of his boost to public hospital funding.
The body would have overseen the federal fund that will pay state funding authorities and then local hospital networks - meaning the commonwealth government will have one less body monitoring its injection into the state systems.

Hmmm the legislation is no where near ready. Yet according to Kevvy this was a planned reform. Bullshit Kevvy, you threw it together to try and deflect and so you could say you fulfilled an election promise.

KEVIN Rudd's $50 billion hospitals reform plan faces further changes and is unlikely to be debated in parliament before the federal election, sparking opposition claims that the biggest rewrite of the national health system since Medicare is in disarray.
Health Minister Nicola Roxon yesterday conceded the government faced "an enormously complex implementation strategy" and might have to make changes to its reforms as it fleshed out the detail of the policy.

But opposition health spokesman Peter Dutton said it was "clear that the government hasn't yet sorted out the detail" and was in disarray on health.

Have these clowns managed to do anything?

But they are a reformist Govt. morgoth, haven't you heard ? Everything is a revolution or the most important or historic changes our nation has ever had.

Happy beyond words that Barnett didn't flinch on this one.

There are relatively few times in state politics where you get the chance to make big calls which will genuinely influence the future of the State. Barney telling Rudd to go forth and multiply on these issues is something WA will not regret tomorrow, 1 year from now, 10 years from now, or 50 years from now.

Seems like a whole helluva lot of "barracking" going on in this thread!

Of course, Abbott has no genuine coherent agenda when it comes to health care, and never has. He had NFI back when health was a part of his ministerial portfolio under Howard, and nothing's changed much.

But of course, once again he's hoping to keep his own record and lack of serious policies hidden under the carpet while trying to make the same - essentially unfounded - claims about his opposite number. What else is new?

Policy will come once the election is called. Libs learnt from last time when Krudd just copied lib policy. Notice how since he could not copy he has not been able to come up with anything that works?

Abbott has clear views on health reform and will have a clear policy, he is just waiting for the election to be called.

I guess this does not count as 'health"

http://www.theage.com.au/national/mental-health-chief-resigns-20100619-yo25.html

KEVIN Rudd's top mental health adviser has resigned in frustration, accusing the Prime Minister and his government of failing the mentally ill with their ''abundantly clear'' lack of vision and commitment to a problem that affects millions of Australians.

The chairman of the National Advisory Council on Mental Health, John Mendoza, tendered his resignation on Friday, citing yet another Rudd government policy failure among his reasons. Most of his council colleagues told The Sunday Age they share Professor Mendoza's despair that the government's multibillion-dollar focus on hospitals is likely to leave crucial mental health services massively underfunded.

Looks like the GP's are not happy. Honestly does anyone approve of this Govt apart from the unions?

Any comment Grin :D

THE Federal Government's vaunted GP superclinics are a pink batts-style policy disaster in waiting, a doctors' group claims.

Doctor Action spokesman Adrian Sheen today handed over a petition to Opposition health spokesman Peter Dutton with 12,000 signatures rejecting the Government's treatment of GPs in its national health reforms.

The Government is rolling out GP superclinics to overcome doctor shortages and emergency room blockages, and patients will see a team of health care professionals rather than one GP.

Dr Sheen said family GPs could become "extinct" under the plan.

"These people feel they must always have access to their family doctor, their right to choose," he said.

Things is we already know what it is in any event...everyone has private health insurance, even if no-one can afford the premiums!!!

My, this hasn't gone well, has it?

Hard to remember a recent govt program that hasn't been bungled.

And Kev had a dummy spit in cabinet!

WELL into Thursday night's cabinet discussion about Julia Gillard's revamped health package, Kevin Rudd told his colleagues he could not support it, slammed his folders shut and stormed out. One source described it as a ''dummy spit''. Another as a ''hissy fit''.

The other minister who must be seriously compromised is Nicola Roxon, surely?

All that's left of Rudd now is the NBN and Stephen Conroy :D

Oh, wrong. Except for the tax on electricity, too.

If only Rudd has any semblence of soul or a backbone, he would explode like a SuperNova and take the Queen B. with him.

But he sulks and sulks and jets around the world to fulfill his self-importance.

Come on Rudd, bring the fury!!! :p

And lol at Nicola Roxon ... does she actually develop policy ? or just follow the PM around nodding "Yes, this is the best policy for Health".

Remember all the Health Reform ads last year .... lol.

It's called the art of the possible when in minority government. So many cheerleading comments by Liberal stooges only too willing to eschew any attempt at analysis. What a waste of 30 seconds of my life reading that stuff!
