Respect to Carlton

Not having a go at them, but West Coast earned the right for a home semi final, I don't call that stiff.

Yeah true. When I say they were stiff I'm just refering to the amount of games they won. Any other year they would be playing at home. Obviously West Coast deserved the home final more than the Blues.

I dont think respect is the right word. I like that they didnt give up until the end, but I still cannot respect the club. They will definitely be a top 4 team next year (Probably replacing the team that beat them tonight).

Would love for Essendon to fight until the end like Carlton have tonight instead of giving up half way through the game. Great game and great effort by the players! Obviously wanted the Ealges to win so I am happy with the result, but at least I got the whole nervous waiting until the siren feeling.

I honestly didnt think that Walker should have gotten the free kick and definitely don't think that Carlton got robbed by the umpires as both teams had bad decisions. The game was over-umpired.

Well Done tonight on a hard fought win

It a credit to the playing group and the coaching staff to come from a wooden spoon to a prelim final.

The eagles 22 tonight was too good for the blues 22

( Although i think the gibbs, kreuzer and wait may have been worth an extra 4 point :) at the MCG

But at the end of the day it is 22 versus 22 in perth and the eagles were too good.

Anyone who claim the umpires influenced the result is a tool, for every missed/dodgy free kick to one side there is an opposite one to the other team throughout the game, not just the last 10 minutes

To those eagles who said this would be a hard fought game, thank you for showing repsect to carlton as an opponent.

To those eagles supporters who were claiming OMG, LOLZ we will win by 10 goals, tonight result has shown you up as tools ( mods im not allowed to call them any nastier names that that right ????

Anywat good luck next week, but unfortunately i think the cats will be too good, due to havign a week off and i think tonights game will take a lot out of the eagles due to its intensity( if we had fluked it in the last 5 minutes we woudl ahve been in the same spot)

Anyway next week
Go Eagles ( bloody father in law barracks for them)
Any speeelllliiinngg mistake in this ramble are due to a bottle of scotch
night all, and good luck

I don't think it lost us the game, but surely over-umpiring to the extreme for a half before completely changing to the opposite would not be considered great?

Just let them play all game
carlton had the rub of the green in the first. had an 'in the back' paid to them which was controversial in the fwd 50 only for a worse one to wc not paid. obviously you missed that. The only downside to AFL is that too much is left to the umpires discretion. However that is and always will be the way. You didnt win. thats all that matters in the history books.

Held completely out of the contest, was the most obvious free kick of the night when even the small things were being paid, the umpires shit themselves in the last quarter and were too scared to pay a free kick that was clearly there.

Actually Walker was initially holding the Eagles player and had his hand on his back. Play on every day of the week, good call by the umpire.

If you watch the slowmo replay, after the wrestling Walker could have easily taken the mark but was too busy throwing his arms up in the air trying to get the free kick.

PS: Was going for the Blues

Of course you was  Lynch trying to take on a dozen players and then simply dropping the ball was also play on ..right ?

Kudos to both teams for a great game ..it's a shame we couldn't have Umpires of the same standard ...they were just simply inept and out of their depth.

I don't like to bring up umpires but that non call to Walker in the dying moments in the goal square was perplexing.

less perplexing than Nicoski getting buried and giving away the free kick or Kennedy getting pushed, rearranging his head and giving up a free kick, bla bla.

The Blues were awesome by the way and if they had managed to get up they would have thoroughly deserved it.

I actually really dis like Carlton

But this game has really given me some respect for them. In terms of contested ball and the will to compete 100% for 4 quarters, It must be one of the best games they have played in a long time?

They were desperate, more desperate than us , hats off to them ! They were better than I thought they would be.

surprised to hear the blues fans complaining about the umps, thought they helped them.

Good thread, I hate Carlton but they deserve a lot of credit for tonight's game and their season.:thumbsu:

I reckon the blues are one KPF short of a flag team and I happen to know of a pretty talented one running around in the VFL that used to play with Carlton.:D

Also, that would have been a very soft free kick if it was paid to Walker.

If Cats get the same advantage from the Umpires next week they will win by 100 points.

If the Geish can justify that performance he needs to be removed from his job. If any of those umpires umpire beyond this week the AFL are out of their minds.

Apart from that Carlton showed real spirit to fight back they way they did. Be interested yo see number of goals kicked from freekicks ...

I apologise if this has been mentioned already in this thread or another, but why didn't Shaun Hampson play tonight? Robbie Warnock played pretty well but considering what he was up against, he'd need to take a break.

An admirable season by Carlton. They'll definitely be moving onto bigger and better things very soon. As much as that shits me

Filthy that we lost but glad we didn't fade out with a whimper. Congrats to the Eagles boys thoroughly deserved victory. Umpires, injuries blablabla that's all secondary to how the players play and the Eagles just had a bit more polish on the night.:thumbsu:

They are 20% better than last year. Maybe play in the GF next year if they find a tall forward

They where outstanding tonight, just would not die
