Retiring Players/Awards/Tv Appearances and KIDS

Why the hell would I want to see a retiring player/milestone game...200/300 games, running a lap of honour with his kid on his shoulder? What has the kid ever done? If it was a "Father of the Year" award well perhaps. I just don't get it.

And bringing kids to sit on their knees or hang around in the background on tv interviews, what's with that.

Do we really need to see the little grots? Is it just for the Aw isn't he cute factor.....? I can't see the reason for it at all.
