Is he actually playing good footy. I dont watch much of other teams as the game itself stinks, so have no idea. Is he better than what we have?

I mean, we're currently rotating Woodcock, Mayes and Farrell through the team so the answer is absolutely yes.

Every time I've watched Chad in the middle for Hawthorn he's looked like a genuine Brownlow contender.

Every time I've watched Chad down forward for Hawthorn he's looked like the spiritual successor to Cam Hitchcock.

Would sell my soul to see Chad come back but there's a fair bit of a balancing act on the cards if it happens.

Same thing happened in his last season at Port. Was having a mediocre year and then went into the midfield in R12. If you tally up the B&F votes from R12 onwards, he finished 2nd in the B&F. And then they traded him lol.

Scott Thompson was on record of saying similar when he was drafted. Money talks.
Oh well - if he does decide to go to West Lakes, he's already used to playing for a bottom 4 team, so it'll be nothing new to him.

I find this kind of analysis remarkable. So we have spud Hinkley getting it totally wrong on Chad’s best position and also GOAT coach getting it wrong as well.

Refer to evidence posted above re 2018 B&F votes. In their own estimations, he's a better midfielder than forward.

I think it's wrong because it's wrong. Chad has played plenty of mid time for Hawthorn. This year, his lowest centre bounce attendance is in the 40%'s and his highest in the 70's. He isn't fit enough to be a full time mid. He is too old to be getting a tank now. He doesn't really have a position he excels at anymore. I'm sure he has a few good games a season left in him but it's not enough for clubs to rely on.

I was musing the position of the Hawks and the ongoing future of our estranged child Chad Wingard.
It would seem clear now, that Hawthorn by their own admission are finally going to rebuild by going to the draft and hence are many years away from contending again.
Further the master of seduction Alastair Clark who promised young Chad a glorious future will in all likelihood leave at the end of 2022 to be replaced by Sam Mitchell.

The question is , do we we have room in our hearts to do the trade with Hawthorn for Chad at the probable age of 29 (end 2022) , to finish the last 3-4 years of his career back at his spiritual home of Alberton.

I'm suggesting yes, provided the trade exchange value is favourable to us and he doesn't demand too many $$. He would offer value as a interim fix when Robbie retires in the next few years and it would be a fitting end to the story of our wayward son.

Talent and ability wise I can agree with you but I think there was more to Chad's departure than his ability.

He was second in the AFLCA votes last year playing midfield until Breust went out with an injury and Chad had to take his spot in the forward line. Didn't do as much after that because he wasn't giving himself silver service in a basement dwelling team who had **** all up forward or in midfield. He also still ended up coming 3rd in the Hawks B&F.

I find it remarkable that people think Chad isn't an out and out gun when he's in the position that he's clearly best suited for.

What about this year?

He came through pre-season overweight. So his fitness at the start of the year wasn't upto scratch. As he built more fitness through the season he played more midfield minutes.

Yes being on the outside , its hard to know what the compete story about his leaving was. Hopefully there's no long lasting bitterness from either side that couldn't be repaired, if he was to return.
