Triple M's offer to Hunt is for next year only as the FM station attempts to groom either Hamish McLachlan or Luke Darcy as its top caller.

They might as well turn the transmitter off now.

Rex is a true gun. I don't care whether it's genuine or not, his over the top commentary never feels forced. It just sounds like pure passion.

His call when Hawkins kicked that goal at the beginning of the 4th was the best I've heard, made me tingle.

3AW won't be the same.

The reason I listen to MMM is for BT and not tossers like Hunt!

Footy on the radio will never be the same.

Exactly!! I can't believe they'd let BT go.
I can't believe this has happened. No more BT diaries? No more BT and Frawley putting sh1t on each other? No more Lyon and Brayshaw ganging up on BT?

I haven't been this upset about my radio listening since Hooksey died :(

3AW's General Manager and football caller Shane Healy just said on the Hinch program that at 4pm Rex walked in and said no would not be taking up the offer to call Sunday football on 3AW but would be moving to MMM to do the Saturday call.

Healy said it was time to make a change after:
- 20 years of Norman Banks calling the football
- 20 years of Harry Beitzel
& now 21 years of Rex Hunt.

Rex finishes up Friday with Neil Mitchell in the morning and the Friday evening fishing show.

Said Brian Taylor had been signed to a multi year contract and indicated they hoped he would be the next long term caller for the station.

Also announced that Leigh Matthews was replacing Nathan Buckley in special comments.

Hahaha looks like Triple MMM going down the gurgler?

That crap staton deserves nothing less than what's happened.

They are a rubbish station with an even more rubbish commentary team. Simply, the Triple M call is for kids who have no idea about the essence of football.

Good riddance.

First Rove, now Rex. I'm devastated

Yeah, as if. Good riddance! Piss off Rex you old hack.

How stupid are MMM to take on this geriatric gasbag?

The other positive is no more stupid fishing on 3AW. Take that shit where the sun don't shine.

Looking forward to BT on AW :thumbsu:

Cannot think of a radio lineup I would regard as top shelf, any more.

Barge at AW - no thanks. If I want Rex then I cop JB and the nuff nuff way of broadcasting that has characterised that station for years, SEN is amateur hour and ABC has Whately.

Friday night ABC with Lane, Parkin and Schwab is about the best, but this really sucks all round.

Vale Clinton Grybas.

I think he'll end up doing quite well at MMM. He's got the personality to fit in there no worries, and from what the paper today indicated it was JB, Garry Lyon and Spud who spoke to him about coming on board.

Rex can be frustrating, but he is still miles ahead of the new blood coming through such as Shane McInnes and Hamish McLachlan.

As for MMM, if they were smart they would have a weekly show with Rex, Sam and Grant Thomas, it'd be entertaining.

Would be a lock in for Eddie to get involved in the MMM football coverage, somehow the Saturday rub may not be the same, can they still poke fun at BT with extracts from his autobiography now that he's no longer in the box?
