Rhyce Shaw?

Alot of people besides me were shocked and not to happy to have Rhyce come to Sydney given his "background" but i knew that he was going to be great (being a small pies fan ;) lol) i knew he was what we needed considering we didnt have a lot of defenders going around with leo injured and Tiger trying to figure out if he was to stay or go which in the end we are so lucky we got Rhyce...hes an awesome running defender and boy does he run its my fave thing about him is his pace and willing to play on and have a go...can slot a few goals as well!

Will remain in our team all year and will get better...the move has done him well as i feel the pressures of the media and collingwood were taking a toll on his playing ability

LOVE YA RHYCE...now get ur brother 2 sydney

He looks so much faster in red and white. I was one of those who groaned when the trade was announced as he was one of my least favourite players in the league. But I am a convert. He's been fantastic and might be the 3rd magpie cast off to come to the swans and win a B&F in his 1st year with the club (after Schauble and Williams).

Would lead our B and F so far this year.
The guy has been a huge surprise. He gives us so much drive and hits the ground running pretty much every time he takes a mark.

With guys like Malceski struggling, he is a breath of fresh air really.

From an outsiders point of view, he fits in better in Sydney's team than he ever did at Collingwood. Malthouse was always too busy with Heath to give a damn about Rhyce, he was the forgotten older child, but now he's under a decent coach so he gets a go.

He runs sideways too much.

I know what youre saying, I seen him take about 8 bounces in one passage of play and not gain one meter, he went forward, back, sideways then headed back again across the ground, Richmond had effectively made a defensive wall, he didnt break full stride any time, however what that did do was to drag there defensive zone across to one side of the ground and he 'switched' the play back with a beautiful long kick to a teamate that broke there zone and resulted in a goal!
He doesnt panic, and when he sees a gap he'll take it, he never just blazes away, or try and do the impossible and trys very hard to hit a target, or at the very least kick to the advantage of a teamate, Ive been very impressed by Agro this year!

Ok, I see everyones point about his dash and flair from the backline, but I would like to pose this question, who turns it over more, Teddy Richards or Rhyce Shaw.

It's one thing to get it, which they both seem to do reasonably well, but its another thing when they cant give the bloody thing to a teammate in a Swans Jumper.

I reckon when Rhyce plays the Pies, he will be really confused and keep kicking it on the full

Definately our recruit of the year so far.His disposals are much improved on his Collingwood form although he still has a bit of work to do there.I heard that he doesn't have the pressure on him in Sydney that he did whilst at Collingwood.

Richards IMO. There was so much talk about Shaw's average disposal skills when he was drafted, but without looking at the stats Shaw has definitely been a better deliverer (if that's a word???) of the ball to the midfield and half forward line. Ted is great, but he does get a bit Leapin Leo with his disposal skills at times...Having said that, there's not that much between them.

Shaw has more clangers (unforced turnovers) than Richards and Mattner but a higher disposal efficiency, a lot more disposals and also delivers by foot more often.

I'd rate the three

1. Richards
2. Shaw

3. Mattner

The long, rediculously high hopeful bomb is starting to get old for me. Needs to learn another kick or handball sideways to someone who can actually spot up a target.

That's true i guess. But against Geelong especially you cannot afford those bombs into the forward line. They will pick them off every time and rebound it quicker than it came in. We really needed to play smarter in that area.

I can't really fault Shaw's decision making. It's not like he's ignoring players in good positions and just kicking in hope, the majority of the time he's under a lot of pressure with the footy and just doesn't have any other option.

Mattner on the other hand is really starting to piss me off.

^ Agreed, it happened to B2 a couple of times (don't take this as an invitation to slag him off otherwise I'm telling Hooley :D ), and it certainly isn't a slur on his decision-making.
