Kane Johnson was named in this week's side. He has suffered an injury at training and will miss this week's game.

We have taken named Ricky O'Loughlin as a travelling emergency, yet when we need to fill Johnson's spot we slot Robert Shirley into the side? Why? What has Robert Shirley done lately?

According to an article on the AFL site today, the Crows want to score more goals.

If that's the case should'nt Ricky be in the side? Is'nt that why he was recruited? Was'nt he one of the few Crow players to kick goals in the trial at Whyalla?

I find it strange that a bloke who has played senior SANFL footy - including a Premiership team (1999) and a Top Team Man Award (2000) with Port - cant get into our team at the minute with the injuries that we have. He would have to be far more talented than Shirley or Byrne.

I'd have Ricky in the team too, the only thing I can suggest was that Kane was named on a half back flank so they replaced him with a similar type in Shirley. I wouldn't have Byrne in the team either, but the selectors probably have something in mind.

I'm not going overboard here but I saw Angwin play for Glenelg today (just on abc) and he looked pretty good, good leap, strong hands, very agile. Looks a good prospect if he can bulk up a bit.

Im a port fan, and i think Ricky O is useless. He is VERY greedy...looks out for himself and not the team. Dunno how he got that Team Man award!!
He cannot kick...could be the worst kick at the Port Magpies. You watch him for a game..just concentrate on him...he continuously kicks it 20m over the head of a leading forward. He has talent...but he seriously has the worst kick im aginable. Plus he is a show off...worse than Cockatoo or Carey. He is very full of himself. He is also soft...don expect to see him at the bottom of a pack or laying a crucial tackle. He is awfully slow as well..tends to run in slow motion. If i was a crow, id rather have Shirley or Byrne in the side, serious.

Macca I dont think ehs useless, but very selfish, remember last year against brisbane when he was told to tag akermanis,

and never was within 20 metres of him, lol

Nah hes a good player, but needs matureness of his footy brain

oh well,
go crows!

Out of the 3 of them, Ricky would be the player I'd have in my team. He doesn't have as bad a kick as Byrne, he's a shocking player, I haven't really seen enough of Shirley. I reckon you're being a bit harsh on Ricky Macca, just as far as his kicking goes, you make him sound like he's as bad as Gallagher or Lyle. I actually think he's rather skillful, though he is a touch on the slow side and is soft. Wish he was a bit more like his brother lol.

Macca I think you are a bit hard on Ricky. I must admitt he does seem the fall out of games and it sometimes seems like he shows no interest in the game and he does do a lot of mistakes but he also shows flashes of brilliance and he can be a match winner at SANFL level. He seems to be very close to his brother so the fact the Crows come up against his brothers team this week I would take a risk and play Ricky. You never know he might lift his game to a new level because of the fact he is on the same field as his brother.

Look...he definatly has talent, and has shown glimpses of it at SANFL level. However, i dont think he is up to AFL standard at all at the moment. Im being dead serious when i say he is the worst kick in t he Port Magpies side. Whenever he gests it, it will always go over teh head of the leading forward. He is overly selfish. He shows the typical Aboriginal skill level, with the twists and turns that only Aboriginal players seem to do...but his kicking is nowhere near up to scratch...and unfortunatly for Ricky..kicking is the major part of the game. I hope he plays 22 games for the crows this year...tat meaans he wont be in a magpie guernsey.
