Was thinking the same

Probably her last olympics too isn't it

I think she's retiring from international and the WNBA.

I've had a crush on her since I was young and saw those n00dz she did; quickly realized she was actually a bloody good player, and carried herself extremely well.

A real shame that she's gone out like that - not a bang, barely a whimper. After her career, she deserved better.

Didn't watch much of the game but from what I did see all Australia did was pass it to Cambage under the basket and have her tripled team then shoot, who ever is the coach should be shot, no other offensive options any where, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Another nomination for the choke awards Rio 2016

None of the Aussie girls were capable of beating their man of the dribble. Serbia did that with ease, and seemed to have shooters everywhere too.

Australia were heavy favourites but the Serbs just seemed a lot more skilled overall at the game of Basketball.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gaze talking Boomers on 7mate

Never gonna win with 26 turnovers. That was deplorable. The last play summed up the Opals whole Olympics. Had a feeling they wouldn't go far. They weren't impressive at all even when going undefeated. Only 2 played well Jarry and Cambage. Also Cambage gives away some stupid fouls she should've realized they needed her on the court not on the bench.

Lauren Jackson pretty much said this. They weren't playing Championship b'ball in the Group matches.

Opals were always struggling from the beginning, but they were just able to scrape wins late in the games, they were always in danger of running out of luck, they were never gonna even come close to challenging USA unfortunately.
Hopefully the Boomers will fare better, they're certainly in better form, even though Lithuania will be tough. The top 4 from the the other group finished with the same number of wins, so they are pretty lucky not to be in the arguably tougher side of the draw with Argentina, Spain, USA and France.

so what you're saying is that you followed her for obvious reasons then realised there's more to her than that?

had a bad feeling about the game. couldnt bring myself to post during or straight after, but now i can....

god damn it. hopes so high for the team. for YEARS they've been our benchmark bball team. medals all the time. as others alluded to their form has been average.

Terrible loss which brings to a close a hugely disappointing Olympic campaign for the Opals.

One of the stronger teams heading into the tournament they really should have featured heavily in the medals with most expecting them to take the silver but they never got near playing the standard required.

On paper they breezed through the group stages with a 4-1 record but the reality is they didn't have it easy and it was mostly their own doing.

Cambage is a superstar but cannot be expected to do it all on her own which is exactly what happened throughout the tournament. Taylor chipped in here and there but other than that the cupboard was completely bare.

Poor play but even more damning was the poor coaching. Instructing the ladies to look for Liz at every opportunity is terrible coaching and more aligned to what you'd see at amateur level rather than on the Olympic stage. ooking for Liz every play is closer to it looked like throughout the tournament.

Brendan Joyce should be sacked. Inept coaching which should not be tolerated.

"pass the ball to Tucker"

These Olympics have to be our worst right? Or does the media (ch 7) pump up average athletes way to much? Hockey no medals, water polo gone, women's basketball choke fest, swimming hardly anything
Not even close...

Australia competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. 180 competitors, 146 men and 34 women, took part in 115 events in 20 sports. Australia performed poorly, winning one silver and four bronze medals. The result that spurred Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser to set up the Australian Institute of Sport. -- Wikipedia

I think Lithuania being the bogey team they are for us will refocus the group and have them coming out hard with zero complacency. Not that I think they would be complacent in an Olympic quarter finals, but a complacency disease seems to be spreading through our Olympic team at the moment.

I think Lithuania is a perfect draw for us to be honest. I think we match up against them really well. Historically, they had really strong guards, but this team's strength is their centers Valuncionis and Sabonis, so I expect they'll try to slow down the tempo and play lots of balls inside. I expect Bogut to have his hands full defensively, but that's playing to his strength. We really should beat them with tempo basketball. I'd much rather play them than Spain who despite their age are strong and deep in all positions and even Croatia who might either explode or implode depending on their shooting.

Really excited about this match. People are disappointed about the failures of out teams - Hockeyroos, Matildas, waterpolo teams. Truth be told I'd swap all those medals for one Olympic medal in men's basketball.
