Re: Riverina FL - Off Season News

Just throwing an idea out there as Marrar may not have enough juniors, but having just seen the fixtures for next year they will have under 17s, it will certainly make it interesting (thanks Doc). If small towns such as Marrar are able to field junior teams that would be great. No-one wants to see teams go under.
Maybe Moist has more of an idea of how the junior numbers will shape up.

no idea. i can only really think of 6-8 kids who would play, alot of kids 16-17 get thrown into first or reserves to top them up. i sure hope those 6-8 kids r popular at school to bring some mates out!

My thoughts on the whole restructure of the local leagues has been well documented, and especially again in yesterdays paper. I think its a shame that CAK and TRYC believe its in the best interests of football in the riverina to leave the Farrer League to die. After a discussion with a Hume league official, there has been an unofficial vote of 11 clubs already saying "no" to TRYC entering the hume league for next season. Thank god the Hume League has some common sense, and I hope that the Riverina League officials have the same opinion

Matt totally agree with you, but my opinion is that there should be changes in the riverina to get the standard of the Riverina back up to where it belongs. 10 or more years ago people all over the football communities have in oneway or another heard of the riverina. Now its not that wide spread and it is hard to attract player from interstate.

here is my view on a revamp of leagues.
RFL

EWK
Mango
W / Tigers
Griffith
Leeton
Narrandera
GGGM
T / Park
Coolamon
Coleambally = 10 Teams

Hume League

M / Magpies
Osborne
BB Saints
Howlong
Jindera
Culcairn - Walla (as i have heard rumours that this is on the cards)
RW Tigers
Billabong Crows
CDHBU
Henty = 10 Teams

Farrar League

The Rock
Collingullie
Marrar
Temora
Northern Jets
Nth Wagga – Rivcoll
Lockhart
Holbrook = 8 Teams

The word from AFL House is that if either the Hume or RFL accept either TRYC or Collingullie, then the AFL will move the remaining clubs to that league and force a split.

Even though the Hume league clubs are indicating a decisive NO vote, if this was to change and they accept TRYC, then Lockhart, Henty, Culcairn & Holbrook could find themselves in the Farrer league for 2009.

The most pressure is on the RFL and in particular the Wagga clubs – if they vote Collingullie in then North Wagga, Eastern Hawks & MCUE will find themselves in the Farrer league in 2009. The AFL does not want to see the RFL become a Wagga based competition as it could start to see the rapid decline of footy in the MIA.

The issue of the red & white colour clash is yet to be raised in regards to Collingullie's application to the RFL - have Collingullie said that they will change their colours so they do not conflict with Griffith? I realise that Collingullie played in the RFL previously with the same colours but what lengths are they prepared to go to get in there this time????

Just while we are on the subject of clothing manufacturers. White line designs is a locally owned and operated company and has been supplying training and playing outfits for 2 or 3 years. based in wagga they rely on the client telling them what type of design you are after and they basically come back with 5 or 6 variations and will keep working on it until there is a design that all parties are happy with. Prices are ultra competitive and service is unbelievable. Also specialise and touch shirts and team polos.

For more information on WLD go to www.whitelinedesigns.com.au

CAK have already approached the Swans saying they will give up their home game against Griffith and travel to Exies twice during the season. Think you may find the Western clubs are against the admission of CAK into the RFL in 2009 as they may be fearful of a Wagga based competition coming to fruition in the future and leaving them without a home. Things can change quickly going by recent events.

Surely CAK and TRYC need to consider the future ramifications for football in the region instead of their own self interest.

With the recruiting of a number of good players at both Leeton and Griffith, how are things travelling at Narrandera?

The Eagles fell in a big hole last year after having big expectations placed on them so will certainly be looking to improve in 2009.

Interesting to see the much vaunted (and somewhat overrated) Adam Bourke is heading to CAK.

Head can you give us an update on happenings at headquarters?

Well iam spilling the beans here and foley iam not interested in my spelling this time as i have had a couple.

What I can say, and head (you legend) you can confirm this, but Narrandera are going though through their cycle of being up the top and finding the oxygen is to thin on the ladder and they shit themselves and what to come back down to the bottom. lol

Firstly Adam Bourke played 4 games and was not worth the over the top payment he got. (dollars I would pay a coach)

What else can i say, but they have lost the following

Peter Heath
Damon Burden
Steve Irons
Chris Downs
Jack Verrings (super Legend gone to see Kevin Sheedy)
Adam Bourke (Not worth much)
Peter Green

Signings - Brett Powell (Osborne)

Sad Case so far for Narrandera and I have heard the ugliest man in the Riverina Peter Bloomfields is still gunna run around again next year at the age of 36

Head please confirm if iam correct.

It sounds like you have spent too much time in a boat with a very unattractive man. But your info is correct at this stage.:thumbsu:

Id like to see Collingullie where melbourne's demons jersey . with navy blue instead of the white. Id hate to see Griffith have to change.

or possibly adopt the rosellas old strip and add some green.

what would be wrong for Griffith staying with the White with the Red V and Gullie Red with the White V.
