I think you're a little light on for reliable points up forward. I'd look at upgrading JR or TC to someone with longer proven track record for scoring consistently, I think they're both capable, but they haven't done it long enough yet.

Not a bad team though your forwards are the weak link.

Not sure if you really need that much money left over. Personally I would upgrade Darling to another premium.

The only other feedback i have is to have a think about Polec. From what i've heard, he's no guarantee for Round 1 which suggests he could be more of a fringe player at the moment so maybe you could shop a little better than him for that money?

I think you have done a good job finding 'unique' players, and I think it is a good move - This is an area I struggle with as I am too calculated with my selections.

It can be a good move to have some spare $$$ if you have your eye on an early upgrade, but I think you will need to weigh this up with the team you put on the field - personally I think your forward line looks a little 'weak', and I would look to upgrade one of your rookie forwards to a 'premium' (Harvey, Pavlich, Green, Brown, Rioli?), but that's just my thoughts.

I've decided to change it up a bit - my team for round one is currently:

Forwards: N.Riewoldt, Franklin, Goodes, S.Johnson, Hurley, Higgins, Knights, (Petrie, Richardson, I.Smith)

Hoping to upgrade both Fraser/Hale to Sandilands/Tippett at some stage - I think Fraser and Hale (if they play!) are too well valued to ignore.

Bock has gone as I think there is enough depth with cheaper 'rookie' options in defence to play an extra rookie each week at the beginning of the season.

I have also trimmed down the midfield, getting rid of Boak and Rockcliffe for Dal Santo - This might bite me later, but I feel more comfortable going with 'proven' performers - especially when paying over $400,000. This allows Harris to be in the best 22 when available too.

This trimming has allowed for Higgins and Knights to be added to the forwards at the expense of Matera and Darling, and has also given the bench slightly more depth - which is important with the byes etc - I think it is a good investment.

I also have $114,000 in reserve, which I don't feel all the comfortable about, but I am struggling to know which player/s to upgrade.

Really good squad, Ward was also tempting for me but decided against it for no good reason other than i want certain other players.
If anything maybe make Krak and Goodes a forward and grab another rookie for the mids but its difficult to fault you to much.

Thats what I've been thinking but it'd a 50K difference if you talk about just those 2 and scotland doesnt score much less. Was trying to keep the DPP. I cant afford anyone more expensive. Downgrade Swallow to a cheaper rookie and use the funds to upgrade Scotland?

Also be weary when the Hawks have a bye you then lose 2 premiums rather than 1. I'm trying to steer clear of two premiums, same club until they are done with the byes. It's the reason I dont have pendlebury or rioli in there

I don't think Hurley is a choice I'd make. I'd feel 100% better watching him the first few rounds. If he is truly set to explode this year he will prove it then. If he isn't you've just wasted a trade.

Shaw and Tarrant are also middling choices. I would drop on to a rookie like Lower and make the other a premium.

You mids are better than mine, so no faults there.

Rucks are good, though I'd swap Darickx for someone more likely to play.

I am not on the Yarran and Krakouer trains, so I think you are taking some big risks there. I would downgrade one and upgrade the other, though I know everyone is doing it so you probably won't hurt yourself too much. Cloke is an interesting pick and I think you might do ok from it. Every year I have got him he has let me down, though.

But I'd definitely be swapping Gamble for Krakour.

But, that's fairly minor. All in all that side should score well.

I still reckon Everitt and Yarran aren't going to be heavy scorers. They seem to be fairly popular, and they may surprise a bit, but i really don't see them consistently above 80.

A few unique picks is good. Andrew Swallow and Shaun Burgoyne in particular. Not many teams will have those - Swallow especially. Steve Johnson and Fyfe can also be thrown into that category.

So overall a solid team, which has the potential to do great things, but also for disaster.

Great looking team, id almost leave it at that! very similair to my team, but i made more cash by choosing bartel over selwood and where you have walker i have a rookie. Like the look of yarran

Although I'm a total novice, personally I dont see you being short of premiums in the backs nor centres. 2 x rookies backs, 2 x rookies centre with Swallow + Harris to come in after round 1 looks ok to me!

But alike your side, I feel extremely weak in the forwards. Anyone able to assist with improving my team please?

Back : Mine is the exact same except I've gone stanley instead of enright. I had enright last year and he's a great player!!

Mid: Boak as the unique is a good choice. Watching AFL 360 last night they called out boak as looking likely to have a big year. Is atley guaranteed to play?

Ruck: No complaints. I had Derickx but saw he wasn't listed in tonights game. I've chosen Keeffe and Z.Smith as my rookies

Fwds: Yeah really strong. ONly concern is richardson. Can anyone confirm if C.Richardson is looking to play? I heard from a fanatic roo supporter (guy goes to training, etc) that he's at best a 50:50.
