Robert Harvey vs Brad Ottens - who deserves a premiership medallion more?

Fair dinkum - one of the true injustices of football.

I look at Brad Ottens, and ____ me, he hasn't got all that much on the resume apart from the premiership has he?

However, he is the man for Geelong, because apart from Mark-mummy-and-daddy's-boy-Blake, you have nothin.

So Ottens is the number one.

And he has an injury.

I'm sure it hurts lots.

Robert Harvey had the same injury - jumped off his kitchen table to break his achilles to speed his recovery up.

Ottens eventually did the same thing running laps, by accident, 6 weeks later into rehab.

Hmmmm..... tough bloke.

that makes no sense what point are you trying to make you tool:thumbsdown:

Ottens worked hard to get his premiership and EARNED it. Not to say Harvey hasnt earned one, but you are making it sound like Ottens was handed his on a silver platter. He got himself fit, and was one of the best ruckmen in the competition last year.

More the point, what is your point? On one hand you talk about a premiership, on the other you talk about Harvey deliberately injuring himself to rush back into the team. Geelong had the luxury of not rushing Ottens so they didnt. And id hardly say its smart medical practise to deliberately hurt yourself so an injury heals faster.

Surely you have read the articles - your No 1 ruckman could have been playing a month ago if he had the oompth of a Robbie Harvey.

Ottens also has an All Australian honor he got when he was at the Tigers.

How many Hawthorn players have an All Australian & a Premiership??????

As for Harvey, he has several night premiership medals and has played in a Grand Final more recently than any current Hawthorn player. Does he deserve a GF medal? Well only if his team was/is good enough to win one.

Couple of Brownlows?

If only they could get their hands on the quality of Robert Campbell and Simon Taylor.

Couple of Brownlows?

your original troll is asking about Grand Final medallions, not Brownlows. Now you can't change the topic just because you are losing the argument and looking like a tool.

Again, How many current Hawthorn Players have All Australian selection and a Day Premiership medallion?

I know Brad Ottens and 9 other Geelong players who have those!;)

Nice looking CV if you ask me :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Excuse me Mr CatmanForever but I am running the show here so you best sit back in your box.

When I go to the Cats board, you can call the shots.

Bit harsh on Ottens - there would only be a handful of players, if any, still playing that would be more deserving of a premiership medal than Robert Harvey.

And Ottens is far from the least deserving player to ever receive one.

Couple of Brownlows?

Listen to an interview with Bob Skilton some time. He would gladly trade all 3 brownlows for one premiership medal. Ask Nathan Buckley the same question.
There's a long list of great players that never won a premiership medal. It doesn't matter how good a player is, if the team isn't up to it.
That's why Geelong won last year, they were the best "team". It didn't matter if they didn't have the Coleman medal winner, kicking the goals is a team effort.
Ottens deserves his medal - he was great during the year, outstanding during the finals. Ask someone that knows something about footy........

I would say that Ottens deserves it more. If Harvey wasn't good enough to lead his team to a premiership and Ottens was then Ottens deserves it more.

Ottens deserves a Premiership medallion as much as any current Hawthorn player. He had a magnificent season last year and was paramount in helping Geelong win the flag - thus deserves a Premiership.

I think Harvey is the unluckiest bloke to have played the game and never win a Premiership.

Why single out Ottens? Why not list every Premiership player to have played the game during Harvey's tenure? Noticeably no Hawks players names will be thrown into the mix.

I'm calling fail on this thread and I can see the only thing you have of any substance worth comparing the 2 players is a similar injury, of which Ottens would be stupid to deliberately break his achilles just as Harvey was at the time. The damage could've been irreparable for Harvey & could well have been for Ottens as well if things went wrong.

I can't think of any player in the current Hawthorn side with the ticker to do what Harvey did.
