Am living in Sweden and ignored all football websites to wait for the replay to be uploaded on the net. Watched it today and was absolutely ****ing disgusted. Not a single part of the game did I feel we were on top. We're back where we were 3 years ago on that performance. I hope we can turn it around but this season could get ugly, especially with our draw

Long time reader of these forums but don't post due to my love of all things Essendon blurring my vision but just had to today.

I think that was THE single worst day of football that my eyes of 33 years have ever seen. 90+ thousand people turn up to watch and the Bombers have NO confidence, NO skill, NO drive to win. Now don't get me wrong I don't mind losing to good sides as long as we TRY. There was just none of that from our side on this day.

I don't have a single reason as to why we are playing the way we are. You look at our list and we should be up there with the best of them in my view. Wether it be coach, players whatever. Something has got to change and change QUICK.

Rockbottom? no

after round 16 2006 when we were 1-14-1 and couldnt even beat a carlton team tanking their hearts out.. that was rock bottom..

Well, a wooden spoon is obviously a worst case scenario. The pain of a wooden spoon this year though, with GCFC entering the draft with full advantage, could be extremely painful.

Self-confidence is a fickle emotion. Knights banishment of Prismall, I think, has proved unhelpful. Likewise his elevation of Colyer. The problem here is that sending Prismall to Bendigo was an over-reaction. Sending a player to Bendigo could have struck fear into them to perform well, or it could have struck the players as something of an injustice that was indeserved. Given that many of us recognised it as an injustice, it's fair to suggest that it may have been seen as such by some in the playing group as well, particularly given that most of our success last year was with the inclusion of Prismall. An ordinary game doesn't warrant being dropped. Until the final quarter v Geelong Prismall was in everything.

So, Colyer gets elevated. He can run very fast, granted, but if the guy can't dispose of it cleanly then his inclusion is pointless. Prismall, while not as quick, can dispose of the ball cleanly 9 games out of 10.

Put simply, Prismall > Colyer.
Colyer > Prismall = a recognisable injustice to the playing group = a lack of confidence in the coach.

This is the best post I have read over the Prismall controversy. But don't just single out Coyler. Plenty of others have been horrible with the ball, yet they get free passes every single week. I don't understand how someone like Winders (WHOM I LOVE) can get a game every week, and he can't even get near it, let alone dispose of it, but somehow Pris gets banished for a group of terribly skilled replacements. Same with Howlett, whose disposal isn't quite at Prismall's level, it is far better than 40% of the team.

It seems like Knights isn't interested in winning. He'd "like to win" as he has said, but he obviously has his favourites who get free passes every week, but we drop the likes of Prismall, Howlett and even Riemers for some unknown reason. And it's hurting the team!

I do feel sorry for you guys.
Your club is an embarrassment at the moment.

Prices have hit rock bottom.
Morale hit rock bottom when Richmond supporters started sympathising with us and calling us an embarrassment.

Rock bottom will be if we get badly beaten by another arch enemy this weekend. Lose this week and the heat will really get turned up on Knights!

If we lose to richmond in round 9 I am organising a protest march at Windy hill on the Sunday to protest the sacking of Knights.

If we lose to Richmond I'm cutting up my membership*

*I'm actually heading to Europe after this game and won't be able to attend anymore games until round 21.
;)

To me i do like the idea of our high risk, handball and run game plan....it suits our list to a tee.
However, there is one major flaw that is genuinely costing us at minimum a goal or two a quarter....our resistance to use the chaos ball and kick 50m to a contest, or in front of a contest once our handball options are exhausted.

As we all know it's making us painful to watch and easy to defend.

At least if you move it down the ground quickly by foot occasionally you can say a mark, bring it to ground, ball up or throw in are all a win compared to a turnover where the kick should have been.
It seems if we don't have the perfect option for a kick we just keep handballing and putting ourselves under the pump.

Pears will hurt but i'd like to think he can be covered by someone in the combination of Hurly, Daniher, Ryder, Fletcher etc, and might also pave the way for Neagle or Laycock back into the side.

However Riemers is a different story....on the weekend he was one of the only ones smart enough to get the pill down field quickly when we were under pressure, and seems to have polish in a midfield that is lacking exactly that.
He will be difficult to cover.

I think it's definately time to bring in Prismal too...

We were 5-5 to Round 10 last year (Prismall played from Rd 11).

Prismall played in 7 losses, 5 wins & 1 draw after that point.

First of all. Prismall's disposal is not better than Colyers. Colyer worked for his place, and rightfully kept it, it is probably time for a spell though. Prismall should be given another chance, but he is far from the solution.

We can't do anything about it this year, but we are in desperate need of decent experienced players. McVeigh is only good average player, long overrated. Welsh is a complete spud, and should not even be in the side. Neither of them does anything on the feild to suggest leader or inspiration to me. Thank God for Fletch. I would rather us lose with kids who try, than these poster childs of the mediocrity that has been EFC since 2003ish. We must trade some of thes fringe players like Houli (example only) to try to get experienced cool heads to the club. (easier said than done I know)

Prismal isn't exactly demanding a recall.
