Towards the end of the match it was mostly just throw the cars at the ball, forgetting defence :p
We did well defending their goal onslaught throughout the match.... could have been 10 - 0 if we didn't save as many shots as we did!

I was being potted all game by one teammate, even though I was the one that was getting involved in the defence AND trying to set up the attacks at goal.

As luck would have it, we all got paired up again in the second chance tournament. Hilarity ensued :p

Mostly Platinum with appearances in Diamond. I'm playing competitive 2v2 and 3v3 more frequently - but haven't been playing every day (in recent weeks it's been mostly Thursday-Friday and some Saturday nights).
 
Backstory behind this goal, had started the game off ok, before letting the opponents back into the match and they hit the front. This led to my teammate going idle (and I was fearing he was going to lose connection etc). I persisted and threw myself at the contest - got a lucky break and was able to move my way into scoring a goal. Miraculously the teammate resumed playing once we evened the score. Sadly we lost 5 - 6 in over time.





And some bloopers - wrongly timed hits that results in goals for the opposition :p

I hate how tournament stats don't fully update (they used to after 10ish minutes once the tournament ended). Technically should be 35 goals in total and I should have had 16 against my name :(. But it was a wild ride, wouldn't have thought that we'd make it far based on our R1 and R2 matches (weak defence). But we gelled from then on and blitzed our opponents - well until the final. We smashed them in leg 1, they smashed us in leg 2, we shot off to an early lead in the deciding leg and the final 2 minutes was spent defending and clearing their frantic goal scoring attempts.

I'm spewing as I did some crazy goal saves AND goal scores. One really cool off the wall shot that went in, and did a really cool one that I launched from half way, nudged it against the wall, they blocked and tried to push it away, but I caught their "cleared" ball and angled the car so that the ball flew airborne in between them and it scored on an angle (a slightly different version of the Buddy Franklin angle goal against Collingwood in the 2011 QF).

Still happy with another tournament win, it's been a while :p

I'm seeing a lot of forfeit attempts even when we're still 2-3-4 goals up... as soon as the opponent scores they just want out of the game.




Regulation action but still posting it because of the context of the game. It was fast and frenetic, but the conclusion anti-climatic. It was looking like we'd end up in OT.... but a save, then a forward motion, got the opponents out positioned and bam. I also like a little bit of cheeky demo action. Did a similar effort the previous game, but it was to help a teammate score as I took out their best player when the player was trying to defend.

Nothing regulation about that, just complete shittery by Blue. Terrible shot attempt by them that should have tested the keeper followed by blowing a very simple save.
 
3 v 3 competitive match

We were 0 - 1 down with time running out against 3 others with sky high pings (600+ - how could we play so badly against them, it's the lag I swear!!). Our defensive coordination was sloppy and I guess we were extremely lucky to not be 0 - 2 or 0 - 3.

But the conclusion was a very happy ending (they forfeited)

 
It probably won't last long but I've been playing competitive instead of casual in between tournaments, so far I've made it to platinum without many losses in between. Remains to be seen how I go from there (will probably languish there as per usual) but if I play competitive more often and actually win I might keep rising :p

Had a funny 2 v 2 match earlier. We were doing ok at 1 - 1, my teammate does a "me" and scores an own goal for the opposition. I try to call him a dumb ass but of course it was censored on the screen. My teammate then starts cracking it thinking I told him to F off lol.

My most recent match - backstory.......... we were playing solidly for 90 seconds, in that time both teams tried to leverage the goals.... I stuff up and we're now down 0 - 1 with 3:26 left to play. My teammate cracks it and remains idle. I was like oh great certain doom 2 v 1 now. But I managed to get a few lucky breaks, and scored twice in quick succession. The teammate sees that we're back in it and resumes playing.... but in a trolling way. At the next kick off, they slow accelerate to the ball. I take over and score again. The following contest, he gets in a duel off with one of the other cars, leaving myself and the other car to battle for the ball 1 v 1 style.

Long story short we won 5 - 1!

I doubt you'll get stuck that low, you play way too much RL to be in the bottom 25% šŸ˜›

We all know my skill set is limited, you don't always see me using the boost to fly from the defending goal to the attacking goal!!!

Even my basics are basic lol. Sometimes when I defend I mean to take a rolling start before the jump..... but I end up just doing a stationary jump instead. And then I wonder why the ball just shaves past. Ditto when I do time the jump right I curse myself for not tilting the car nose upward to help block off the very top of the goal area.

One area that I've been working on is rolling off the wall then gliding in the air to guide the ball. I can do it in freestyle, putting it to use in matches is tricky as. I end up angling the car wrong under pressure.

Your highlights definitely show a lack of aerial game which will certainly prevent you from getting out of diamond, but I don't think diamond 1 in duos would be out of reach. That would make you better than around 30% of players, which sounds about right going by your footage.
