Round 1 vs Mount Buller Demons
Opponent: Wosh
Score Conceded: 5.0.30

In Round 1 in a disappointing performance at the Snow Dome for the Sin City Swamprats where the midfield were annihilated, Rodney Dangerfield aka "The Wall" was one of the few shining lights for the Sin City Swamprats.

Competing against such dominance in field position for the Demons all game, The Wall managed to keep his opponent Wosh to just a measly 5 kicks all game. Granted she was opportunistic with those kicks, but in a week where conditions across Sweet were pristine and tailormade for full forwards to kick bags of goals. Keeping a full forward to only 5 opportunities is a fine effort by the league's newest SUPERSTAR defender.

To put it into context, Wosh despite her 5-goal performance is only 10TH for total points scored (Goals and Behinds) and 13TH in Round 1 for scoring shots which shows the tremendous positioning and body work that Rodney Dangerfield is capable of.

The Wall also executed this brilliant desperate tackle that saved a certain goal.

4 : 1.12 {FF} - Wosh picks it up on the bounce.
4 : 1.16 {FF} - Rodney Dangerfield drags Wosh down beautifully.

Given the conditions for the week, only to allow 5 scoring opportunities is stingy in context.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNIMAGINABLE HOW A FULL FORWARD CAN KICK LESS THAN 5 GOALS IN ROUND 1 OF SEASON 36, ASSUMING 100% of GAME TIME. 🎷🦆

A solid performance in a poor team and a good start to The Wall's quest for All-SFA Full Back.

I rate this performance 3 BRICKS OUT OF 5.

Headless: 7/12 selections in committee team.
Ned_Flanders: 4/12 selections in committee team.

Ant Bear: "Ned_Flanders it is!"
Just because 7 committee members agree to something does not mean they are automatically correct Headless.

Round 2 vs Baghdad Bombers
Opponent: gab213
Score Conceded: 2.0.12

The Season 36 Round 2 Baghdad Bombers v Sin City Swamprats match may forever be remembered for okeydoke7's 1000th goal, but equally significantly it was the announcement of the official arrival of THE WALL Rodney Dangerfield when he was faced with the task of containing the dominant full forward, the All-SFA full forward, Fred Medalist and TFLUA-Tiger Award winner from the previous season Gab213.

Most would be happy to keep such a dominant spearhead to 4 goals or less, but The Wall had other ideas, resoundingly winning the contest against Gab to keep him to just 2 kicks for the game. And although Gab would be opportunistic and convert those rare opportunities. A two goal return is far below par for such a superstar.

In multiple contests, The Wall outmaneuvered the reigning Fred Medalist like few can do and handily won the bout.

1 : 5.58 {FF} - gab213 is the target but he's outplayed by Rodney Dangerfield.
1 : 6.04 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield through heavy traffic.
1 : 6.08 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield takes a bounce and nearly fumbles it.

1 : 21.33 {FF} - Kicks to a contest - gab213 looks to get to thre front.
1 : 21.39 {FF} - That's an extraordinary juggled one-hander to Rodney Dangerfield.
1 : 21.43 {FB} - The bounce favours Rodney Dangerfield and he is off and running.

2 : 9.36 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield screaming for the ball - and he is heard.
2 : 9.4 {FB} - No mark taken as Rodney Dangerfield and gab213 wrestle for position.
2 : 9.47 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield signals for his teammates to present.

2 : 10.22 {FF} - With the ball is gab213.
2 : 10.25 {FF} - The ball falls straight into the hands of Rodney Dangerfield.
2 : 10.3 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield sizes the options in front of him.

  • Despite neither player having much impact, Rodney Dangerfield won the bout with gab213. - 30m from 6 to 36.
To put this performance into context, the very next week Gab213 kicked 9.4 when matched up on a much lesser full back.

I rate this performance 4 BRICKS OUT OF 5.

Round 3 vs East Side Phoenix
Opponent: Itsmyshow
Score Conceded: 1.1.7

In Round 3, the Sin City Swamprats scored a thrilling 5-point victory over the East Side Phoenix to get on the board with THE WALL Rodney Dangerfield playing a critical role against a legendary forward in Itsmyshow.

IMS is 6x All-SFA, he's won the Deestroy Medal for best on ground in a grand final, he's won the Fred Medal, he's a Hall of Famer with over 800 goals and is fourth on the all-time goal kicking list.

In Season 36 he's in ripping form as he's recorded 7-goal hauls on two occasions already. Kicking goals is normally easy for this man. But in Round 3, it wasn't easy at all because his opponent was Rodney "The Wall" Dangerfield.

In this clash of the titans, IMS started confidently managing to lay a tackle, late in the first quarter, but the pressure of the occasion would tilt the Hall of Famer and he would fail to convert.

1 : 18.51 {FB} - Nobody's checking Rodney Dangerfield.
1 : 18.55 {FB} - What a tackle by Itsmyshow.
1 : 18.58 {FF} - Itsmyshow signals for his teammates to present.
1 : 19.05 {FF} - Itsmyshow flat out refuses to lower his eyes.
1 : 19.09 {FF} - Off hands and through for one behind.
East Side Phoenix : 2.2.14
Sin City Swamprats : 2.3.15

As he would learn the hard way, if you get opportunities against THE WALL, you simply must take them.

Competing against this kind of intercepting ability, IMS would not get another disposal until late in the fourth quarter despite being on the field the entire time - 3 entire quarters without even getting a single possession!

2 : 16.14 {FF} - A worm burner to Itsmyshow.
2 : 16.18 {FF} - Rodney Dangerfield must wash his hands in superglue. Astonishing mark.
2 : 16.24 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield does some crumbing and is away.

3 : 22.33 {FF} - He spots an option and kicks to Itsmyshow.
3 : 22.37 {FF} - Terrible kick falls into the hands of Rodney Dangerfield.
3 : 22.43 {FB} - Nobody's checking Rodney Dangerfield.

IMS would kick his first and only goal late in the quarter, but the Swamprats would prevail with a goal off the boot of the great Jewelsbon .

  • Spending most of the game pushing and shoving each other, not much between Rodney Dangerfield and Itsmyshow - the former was probably a smidgeon better. - 73m from 19 to 92.

In an incredible performance where he completely negated on of the greats, Rodney "The Wall" Dangerfield showed why he is simply the best fullback in the game.

I rate this performance 5 BRICKS OUT OF 5 for a brilliant, matchwinning performance against a legendary goalkicker.

Round 4: 1.2 conceded vs PhenomenalV1

Round 4 vs Dragons FFC
Opponent: PhenomenalV1
Score Conceded: 1.2.8

Heading into Round 4, PhenomenalV1 must have been feeling really good about himself. He's averaged 5 goals across the first 3 games of the season and right in it to win the Fred Medal. I have no idea what some of the defenders out there are doing to allow him to kick so many goals because I can confidently say having seen his work since Season 23, that PhenomenalV1 is basically the Josh Bootsma of the SFA.

Somebody needed to do something to end this madness of Phenom playing well and that somebody was of course THE WALL Rodney Dangerfield.

In the first half, order had finally been restored with PhenomalV1 failing to even touch the ball while The Wall took brilliant marks like this in tough muddy conditions.

2 : 14.16 {FF} - Gets onto his preferred foot and boots it long.
2 : 14.22 {FF} - Top mark Rodney Dangerfield.
2 : 14.29 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield has it.

But unfortunately, in the third quarter some screwing around by the Swamprats backline resulted in a turnover that allowed Phenom to get around The Wall and seagull his only goal for the game.

3 : 3.42 {rBP} - He gets a handpass to Firestarter.
3 : 3.48 {FB} - Rodney Dangerfield receives his handpass.
3 : 3.54 {lBP} - A poor handpass but jackster83 is up to the challenge.
3 : 4 {rBP} - An underground handpass to Firestarter.
3 : 4.07 {rBP} - Great bump by Greenery. Firestarter has not moved.
3 : 4.13 {FF} - PhenomenalV1 takes off.
3 : 4.19 {FF} - PhenomenalV1 walks into goal.
3 : 4.25 {FF} - It's a goal to PhenomenalV1.

  • While both players struggled to make an impact, Rodney Dangerfield came out tops over the brave PhenomenalV1. - 55m from 38 to 93.

Obviously The Wall was still the winner, but PhenomenalV1 is nowhere near the class of Gab213 or IMS, so conceding a single goal means there is room for improvement.

I rate this performance 4 BRICKS OUT OF 5.

You know your qooty.

I see now why you're the admin.

I will now turn to pointing out Headless has higher numbers and higher is better
I'm just glad to see that after so many years of being a non-contributor who sits on his arse Headless is finally doing something on the Qooty field.

Selflessly gave up Int#2 for the good of the team and is thriving at full back.

Hi Hate

Is there any historical precedent for full backs that have conceded 12 goals in a single game still making the All-SFA team?

Kind regards
KP
