Love thisWhat is the rationale to "just play" someone?
For me its someone who is in category 1: someone we know is up to the level, so we should just play them to give them the chance to get up to speed quicker. I think Reef is in this category.
But what about?:
Category 2: These are players that show they are above reserves level, but we arent sure if they are up to AFL standard. We need to give them games to find out. Eg Mccrae, Carmichael, Bianco. I think these players should be played when opportunities arise.
Category 3: We know they will be up to it, but not quite ready yet. But who cares, they may as well gain experience in the 1s. This would be Ed ALlen and Jakob Ryan in my opinion. I dont mind waiting for these players to develop and refine thier game.
I guess there is also a Category 4: Average at the lower level, but might actually do even better at the higher level. I'm not sure who is in this category? ( but for want of an example perhaps Ash Johnson would have been one potentially when he was playing 2s.)
It's all of 1,2 and 3
With the occasional 4
