Twomey was saying on Gettable that North has offered its F1 for Houston, but Port has stipulated they want something this year.

Thats the bench mark then as far as Port is concerned.

You'd have to seriously think about that if you are Port. Could easily be a top 3 pick.

Those expecting two first round picks need to prepare themselves for disappointment.
We're desperate to get into the first round so will take unders. Bet on it.

It wont be Noble for pick 12 ... In effect they will get Noble PLUS an academy player that is a first round value pick.

Yeah but they struggle to keep these players they have used high picks on.
All they can attract is rejects looking to leave Melbourne for a better lifestyle and easy money.
Plus giving away first round picks to previous year premiers isn’t very smart.
AFL experiment that will never take off.

If nothing else, it gives the other clubs something to think about.

I would be reluctant to take a future first round pick from North, they could easily have won another 3 or 4 games this year. With Houston in the side next year and more experience in their young players, they could push up the ladder.

Even with 22 this year, we could wind up with a pick in the teens from them next year, which would be unders. But I can't see them handing over pick 2 this year for Houston.

If we got a F1 from North we should be offering it to teams wanting to get out of this years 1st round.

I think that is GC isn't it?

They could be losing pick 6 for Rioli, their next pick is 13.

Houston's value to US went up last weekend, while he wasn't playing... :/
 
Getting Houston would be massive for North.
They’ve got plenty of cash they need to spend. They have a pick they don’t need for the player they are after in the draft.

I think North are just testing the water for now but they’ll make a serious offer at some stage.
 
Thanks to Lore for her great work with her future provisional picks thread each year, and this is who has what picks at end of Rd 24. After Week 1 Carlton's pick 11 stays the same and Gold Coast's pick 13 becomes pick 12 as they have the Bulldogs first round pick.

Basically we don't deal with anyone of the Vic clubs who has a pick after Carlton's 11. We ain't getting 2 first picks for him so the negations don't go any worse off pick, than 11.

There's a risk in that North, with Houston and Parker, could easily jump out of the top 4. It's a real possibility.

I would also be asking for that pick 22.

There's competition out there for Houston. At least 3 way. He knows that while he may have a nominated club, Port hold the cards so given he wants to go to Vic, we should absolutely tell him that we're trading him to the club that offers the best deal for us. He's got 4 years left on the deal and it's not our fault he signed it last year.

If no one wants to pay 2 good 1sts we should shut up shop and keep him. He contracted and not going to walk out.

Losing Dan is a massive setback, one we don’t have to accept unless we get something worth that setback.
