We likely to get Perryman?
Paying big $'s for HBF of which we have a plethora of blokes to play that position.
And young Rome and Louie are both primarily HBF's too, so if we draft them...............!
Just why?

Surely a top notch KPF, a star mid, or a cracking livewire small forward are our 3 priorities - IF we want to trade someone in???

We prefer to think of him as being " unaware."

Who knows. It's not like Port don't have form keeping supporters in the dark.

Provides an excuse to have a look at what we traded away.
I understand the club spins and denies but this is Dan Houston himself saying that he has no intention of leaving Port and has definitely not requested he be traded to a Melbourne based club.

I would suggest it is more likely than not at this point. Port have offered him a very strong deal.

Ken Hinkley also says he loves coaching at Port Adelaide when asked about the West Coast job.

In all fairness, what is Dan supposed to say in such an interview at this point in the season? Of course he's not going to say he wants to leave. He will only put a request in provided he gets the contractual terms he's looking for with another team.

That's what I assumed but we have a fair whack of half back flankers on the team.

It might be time to diversify.

Assuming Houston goes, you'll have Farrell, Perryman, Bergman, Sinn, Jones and Burton. Wouldn't be surprised if they moved on Burton. It's a position of strength for sure.

You have intimated, oh Wise Alberton Sage, that Burton will be moved on a few times. Do you think we will get anything for him? He's contracted till 2025 .

Just before I was contemplating Perryman slotting in for Houston. I like it.

I'm sure they'd take whatever they can get to get Burton off their books.

It has been obvious for a long time that Kenny Hinkley has zero integrity and is a lying snake oil salesmen.

Time will tell if Dan Houston is also a liar. I realise that people's personal circumstances change but it's only two years since he signed a new long term contract. Not sure if his current girlfriend was on the scene then or is a more recent influence. Maybe Dan is happy to be shown up as a bare faced liar to keep her happy.

Along with knowing the deal will get done by Port and Melbourne/Saints both likely to have a spare 1st round pick via Adelaide or Battle compo.

Definitely wasn't with her when he signed his current deal.

Literally every player would say the same thing Dan said if put in that situation regardless of what he truly felt. Much ado about nothing and I certainly won't be holding those comments against him if at the end of the year he requests a trade.

Seems Dan needs some media training in how to deflect these types of questions with vague answers rather than being so definite that there is no truth in the rumours.

I seem to have much higher standards of personal integrity than professionals in the AFL.

Has nothing to do with personal integrity.
The AFL world is a bubble and we shouldn't be trying to compare our own employment careers with them. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

If he doesn't shoot the rumour down with a hammer when asked it would continue to be a a story and become a greater distraction.

A white lie really doesn't hurt in this instance - especially seeing as though right now he remains fully committed to seeing out the season with the Club and he hasn't shown any signs of a drop off in form which all too often happens when players are unsettled and considering their options.

Except it wasn't just a white lie, hence my comment about media training.

It is about personal integrity.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Wait.. so the reason he is looking to move to Melbourne is because he's hooked up with a girlfriend? I thought there was some sort of family health issue.

If it's just because his new partner is from Melbourne, I say play absolute hardball. What the hell, this would set an awful precedent.

90% of players who have ever requested a trade were liars up until the moment they requested the trade.
I do agree to some degree, but they're not usually as firm/direct as Houston was. It's usually a bit more vague, including terms around waiting till end of year, concentrating on the now etc etc.

Houston was very direct, so I'm inclined to believe him.
