There are four or five Melbourne teams lining up for Houston so we should be getting two 1sts and maybe, I said, maybe a touch extra.

couldn't help but read "two fists"

Who was the last player to get traded for 2 top 10 picks? Need the historians here

Essendon hilariously paid two first rounders for Dylan Shiel. Jeremy Cameron was three first rounders.

GWS sent a second rounder back, so not exactly two firsts.

At any rate, pick 9 in the Shiel deal was the highest pick in both of those deals. Cameron was dealt for three picks in the teens.

Two top ten picks is completely fanciful. As an opening gambit, sure, but no one is going to cough up that for a 28-year old half back flanker, contract or not.

If it gets done, suspect it will be a first and second at absolute best.

The two firsts wasn’t an opening ambit claim. It’s the price. Port doesn’t work like Dodoro.

Now it could be #18 and a future first but the price is two firsts. That’s because we will need one for Lukosius and one to keep the afl happy that we actually use a first every few years. Stupid rule given we got a 19yo #1 pick by trading out a couple of firsts but the rules are the rules.

Contracted leadership group player shamelessly shopping himself around while the season is still on, nice.

Yeah so much for leader

Fox: The Saints are believed to have pulled away from the Houston race, leaving Carlton, Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs in the hunt. North Melbourne, too, has held interest in Houston and put forward its 2025 first-round pick for him but the Roos weren't part of the clubs he spoke with recently.

Some of the bigger trades of the last 7 or 8 years (not include any steak knives picks beyond mid 30's)

Tim Taranto ->12 and 19
Josh Dunkley (plus change) -> 21 + F1 + F2
Jeremy Cameron (plus 2x F2) -> 13 + 15 +20
Tim Kelly (plus change) -> 14 + 24 + F1
Brad Hill (plus change) -> 10 + F2 + Acres
Wingard -> Burton + 15
Neale + 30 -> 6 + 19
Jesse Hogan (Melb to Freo) -> 6 + 23
Shiel + F2 -> 9 + F1
Lever + 35 -> 10 + F1
Gibbs + F2 -> 10 + 16 + F2
O'Meara (to Hawks) -> 10 + F2

You need to take into account the relative perceived strengths of the drafts in how picks are valued, but if we do manage to get a top 10 plus another first rounder for Houston that would be right up there with the biggest trades in recent history. Hence I think it's more realistic to expect a top 10 + F2 type deal.
