Cheers, guys. I really appreciate you taking the time to read all that and reply with some positive words. Very kind.

sal - you should post more often. You're one of the reasons this place used to be better then than it is now.

Baz - not a hard task when I'm that drunk.

Arden - ha, inb4....

Mr R - while my Protestant, Belfast-born mother rolls in her grave at me mentioning this, the same thought/comparison had crossed my mind before, just as you said.

bs - I'd put that down to Sydney being such a shit place.

LT - and you would be ?

Kidding. *taps nose* Was it the Dave Graney call ? Either way, I'm tipping your memory would be a far more reliable beast than mine. Writers, and people that are me, are notoriously full of shit. Cheers for letting it slide.

EDIT: Didn't initially see that extra bit you posted, LT...

You've known me long enough to know self-deprecation is a bit of an obsession of mine. I really struggle with "pride".

I liked the SA story, and I'd say that my motivations were along those lines, too.

A great read, TOD, and it brought back some great memories. Arriving at Fitzroy St that night was amazing - I wasn't involved with organising it but I knew broadly how much you guys had put in and I had huge butterflies on your behalf, so to see the VW and all the North shirts was such a buzz. A much quieter associated memory was getting my "keep North South" tshirt out of Kangalicious' boot to hand out postcards to voters in North Melbourne. It was an honour to be on the edges of so much passionate, smart activity to save the club. Love youse all forever.

I wasn't on BF at that stage H2H, so was not aware of any of the activities that brought the gig about, but the buzz I felt having a beer in the Rainbow Bar before the gig, with the sun shining in, North colours and people everywhere, the VW, the Dave Graney lookalike, the TV crews and reporters, man it was ****ing awesome. It was the closest I had been to the club in my adult life as I had sorta got interested in other things in my early to mid 20's and spent a few years overseas and had come back to the game about a year before, and it really kicked off my reinvigorated passion for the club that I now carry. So to all involved thanks for not just playing a major part in saving the club I love, but giving me an entry point back into passionately supporting it.

Just trying to remember but didn't the anti-North comment that fired up windsock come from a * supporter?

Bloke was a massive ****wit, so there's one major box ticked.

Cracking read TOD. It's great to get a bit more insight into the back story to such a tumultuous time in our history. The efforts of yourself and all of the Roosistence organisers should not be forgotten. That gig that cemented in my mind that we would not be going anywhere. The atmosphere was incredible, as good as anything I've experienced at the footy. Despite the excessive number of beers I consumed that night, I'll not forget it in a hurry.

Ironically, just this weekend I was going through the "his" boxes that I recently managed to retrieve from my ex when I stumbled across a the memorabilia that I purchased during and post gig. My first thought was that I must get the Roosistence poster framed so I can hang it along side my premiership team photos as the events of late 2007 were arguably as a significant a part of our great club's history as the GF triumphs. My second thought (more a lament) was why am I not cool enough to wear the Roosistence Angry Roo trucker cap as my headwear of choice on game day?

And enough of the self defecation. In the words of Ty Webb, you're a tremendous slouch.

Brilliant stuff, TOD. It's only mid-January and we already have TOTY.

I wasn't long back from many years living overseas and I am just so thankful that I was able to attend this wonderful night, organised by truly great club supporters. I am also the proud owner of a Roosistence poster, which was personally delivered by pharro after it had been framed - talk about above and beyond the call of duty.

In addition, my Troy Makepeace (Skull Squad) T-Shirt has not been washed (or worn) since that night as I managed to get Tim Rogers to sign it. :thumbsu:

Hopefully, blackshadow managed to get a few photos of the LtK premiership tatt gun show for posterity.

Isn't the story with windsock getting felt up by a member of the same sex, thus causing a kerfuffle and sensibly Northbhoy ushered the perpetrator on, i didn't know it was winsock until the story was told later on on here, witnessed it though.
Someone asked for photos which i took a few and posted on here thus identifying afew of the afore mentioned which caused the wrath of the mods, however i did find a link to interviews on the night.

Great write up TOD.

Great write up TOD.

Good research Jo. Those two blokes in interview 5 spoke a lot of sense. It must have before they'd had too many beers.

I've had some pretty lean years recently.

In and out of hospital, major surgeries, forced to sell the business I loved and a whole lot of other shit that would just bore the casual reader here even more, so to save further embarassment, won't go there.

What I will say though is that sometimes the world can look like a really, really dark place, yet even through the darkest of days there was always the one constant that gave me a bit of excitement and a reason to look forward to the days ahead with a sense of anticipation. That one thing was the love of this footy club.

Tod, Lidge, Pharro/Snrub/LT and to all the others that played their part (no matter how insignificant they may think it was), well I can safely say that for some, that part really meant more than you'll ever know.

It's no small thing to say that through the determination and actions of a few, we still have a club and for that,....... thanks doesn't quiet seem appropriate.

Also, great work as always The Other Dean. Two thumbs :thumbsu::thumbsu:

The stuff of Legends.....

You are selling yourself way too short TOD, that was an incredible read. As someone who has only been on BF for just under 4 years, there is only so much that I knew about the Roosistence and who was involved. I now have a much better understanding of the efforts of individuals who stood up for our great club.

It's these events that should be common knowledge to all North posters. I think there is merit in keeping this thread permanently sticked so that any new posters or and ones like myself who didn't know everything about the Roosistence, can see this on top of our board and read it.

This reinforces why we have the best footy supporters in the land. :thumbsu:

Great read Dean!
All I can say is that I am proud to have been there on the night, and for some reason the first memory that comes to mind from the night is the spine tingling feeling I got when Something for Kate played REM's "For the one I love". Somehow that song hit the spot with the theme of the night like nothing else...

I look forward to telling my kids about Roosistence when they are old enough to care.

Like Passmore, i (used to) consider myself a die hard supporter.... until i discovered Bigfooty in '09.

TOD you & your cohorts are absolutely incredible. I am forever truly grateful for your passionate commitment to fight the fight you did. At the time i thought i was reasonably abreast of the issues but now realise how completely unaware i was of the gravity of our club's plight - how apathetic i was during the whole saga, given the amazing efforts of those were not. Shamefully so.

A brilliant, insightful, smile/tear inducing piece (I mean, err.... that was awful. Have you heard of proof reading?).

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to you & all of the aforementioned supporters who have left an indelible mark on our wonderful club's rich and defiant history. You should be very proud.

Beyond that, you had a kind of outer scrotum of part-time contributors/close associates of Roosistence. This group included Hearts2Hearts, The Filth Wizard, Shinboners, TT (who has since kind of stepped up after the fact to become an honorary inner-scrotum-er), GoNorth, Mr Reliable, The Zebra, and hilly. (Apologies if I’ve missed anyone.) I would like to offer a huge thank you to all of the above-named.

Very generous of you to include me TOD - think the extent of my assistance was to ask Royal Blue who reliably informed me that 'something is brewing'.

Great read and reminded me of this quote:

'In two aspects North Melbourne stands second to none. One is the loyalty of its supporters. The other is the determination to carry on, despite its disadvantages. In the face of adversity, which might well have broken the spirit of most men, we find that from the earliest days there were always enthusiasts to fight for North Melbourne'.
—The Australasian 15 June 1940.

I hope thus stays stickied for a long time. Threads like this help me.

I remember being so frightened my club would end up on that cesspool of corporate cocaine and inhumanity that is the Gold Coast I willfully ignored any news. Just flicking through the papers and seeing 'North' would get me to turn the page. I couldnt deal with the prospect.

I still remember being in tears at home while listening to what JB had done.

You don't need to be flattered further The Other Dean but I'll do it anyway. That was a fantastic read this morning over a cup of coffee (strong and black - like my men).

It's timely too. Because for TOD, pharro etc the time might be right to collect all their thoughts and recollections before they fade. And mentally check off the locations of the related relics of '07 before they're lost.

The victory against relocation was a pivotal point in NMFC history. Vigilence in capturing and preserving every gritty detail of it now will be greatly helpful to the generations we leave the club to.

Thank-you from the bottom of my shinboner heart.

I have had a summer of reading, including books that are likely to win all sorts of prizes. None of them come close to hitting me in the heart like your posts TOD.

You are all magnificent Shinboners, this is an inspiring story & we are a great club.
