I think he was ok for the WB for a while as a defender, 2021.Yeah, he is a poor man's Weid. Weid has at least had patches where he looks a player, dont think Schache has ever done that. It was probably the least impressive 3 goal game you'd see. Sparrow's 3 goal game was at least decent. Something for his defenders to say in your face over.
He played 9 games in 2021 and about 3 of them were in defence LoLI think he was ok for the WB for a while as a defender, 2021.
Oh ok, glad we’ve got you to right all our wrongs. He played 9 games in 2021 and about 3 of them were in defence LoL
Interesting isn’t it? He just doesn’t seem to have the heart for it. I guess he’s tall and a decent kick for goal - maybe an early developer in size? - which made him more impressive in juniorsEven the difference between Schache and JVR was noticeable. JVR competes and hates getting beaten, Josh just gets happily tossed to the side. Hard to believe Josh was a top 2 pick with not a drop of competitive juice in his body.
I think there was a bit of media chat about how it was clever of Bevo to play him in some role or other? Maybe that was as a defender, I forget now. But I recall that too. At the end of the day they delisted him though. It would be ace if he could come good, but given his track record I’m doubting it.Oh ok, glad we’ve got you to right all our wrongs.
LOL
I simply remember some discussion about him filling a gap for them and being serviceable.
He always seems to kick a few. Mind you, has he ever lifted a weight? His body shape looks pretty average after close to a decade of AFL.I think there was a bit of media chat about how it was clever of Bevo to play him in some role or other? Does he perform well in the VFL? I don’t have any memory of anyone saying he has made his mark there, but I confess I don’t follow the VFL closely
Happy for him to play forward if another younger defender comes on. If he can kick 40 goals a year then that’s what we need. I am more concerned about the Steven May replacement long term.Am I the only person here who wants Petty to go back and replace Tomo when he's fit?
I think Schache’s VFL dominance is due to him having a size and skill advantage over pretty much any defender he comes up against when he’s a forward. He just frustrates me because he seems to be good in the VFL yet he can’t translate it at all. I just felt maybe just maybe he might offer something in 2024 given the wind down of McDonald and Brown. Wishing thinking more than anything but I sort of hoped those 3 goals may have been the start of him clicking. I guess it’s another Weidemann. They were drafted the same year.
I guess what started as a Hail Mary has evolved into an important part of the forward line . I just want him on the park no matter where he plays .Am I the only person here who wants Petty to go back and replace Tomo when he's fit?
If Fullerton gets a few games and looks capable as a ruck forward before Petty returns I can see Petty replacing Tomo. If May were to get injured hell have to go back coz we have nobody else. (TMac is not a viable option Simon)Am I the only person here who wants Petty to go back and replace Tomo when he's fit?
I agree at the moment, but if McAdams and Petty are fit at the same time, I'd prefer Petty back and McAdams forward. Unless injuries the other two can go to VFL.Tommo as the second tall defender > Schache as the second tall forward/ruck, imo.
Fair enough, think that's too much pressure to put on JVR though (McAdam is only a small-medium forward), meaning JVR would be the only key, and when he needs to ruck, it'd leave us with Fritsch as our tallest forward.I agree at the moment, but if McAdams and Petty are fit at the same time, I'd prefer Petty back and McAdams forward. Unless injuries the other two can go to VFL.
I'm not surprised he went at number 2 because it's easy to look good at under 18 level. Very rarely do you get a monster like Hawkins pushing school kids around and complely dominating. I'm no draft expert but perhaps Schache's skill looked class at under 18s compared to a curnow, we even went with weid as well.Even the difference between Schache and JVR was noticeable. They also have the zones and only one on one rules and shit in the juniors. Spose recruiters also thought you can teach toughness to a level but not skillI'm not surprised he went at number 2 because it's easy to look good at under 18 level. Train goes nowhere, sunny. No point going on with this. Enjoy your weekend. It’s nice weather. How did you manage to turn schache wasn't good lol into a personal vendetta. You're very clearly hung up on past interactions that I promise you I don't remember lol.
I'll make sure I agree with everything you say from now so not to cop another personal attack from you though.
Probably think if they can put on some weight they will be more competitive but it's between the ears not a strength thing. I remember playing footy with this bloke who was a big guy. I told him he is too nice and he needs to run through defenders if they get in the way, he just had no campaigner in him. Pickett isn't big but he is a competitive beast. They also have the zones and only one on one rules and s**t in the juniors. I mean JVR as an example, or for an even better one Viney. Small bastard but you lock him in a room with any man on earth relatively close to his size and he'll find a way outProbably think if they can put on some weight they will be more competitive but it's between the ears not a strength thing. I think you are going to be disappointed with Fullerton. He's not very good at all. I'd honestly rather Schache. Fullerton is still fairly young and maybe has time, but from what I've seen and what Lions fans were saying, he's next to useless. Petty has to go forward unless Jeffe starts showing signs. This is where Petty will be a massive loss if he leaves. Can play both ends of the ground really well. Not that he was a gun, but it's also frustrating that Joel Smith is done. Because he was another that could play both ends. Not as well as Petty, but we don't have too many versatile players like those 2 who have proven they can fill a gap forward or back.If Fullerton gets a few games and looks capable as a ruck forward before Petty returns I can see Petty replacing Tomo. If May were to get injured hell have to go back coz we have nobody else. (TMac is not a viable option Simon)
