So I was playing around with my team last minute and swapped Hibberd to Hurley, and I thought I swapped Hibberd back in but now I'm actually stuck with Hurley

I'm not sure what to think, good score but 650k is a lot to pay....

3/238, will be 4/318 once Coffield donut happens for Doedee

3 keepers and a rookie, if that score was 360-370 it'd be about right, what to do with Zerrett.....

Guess if he's named next week keep, if not then weigh up a trade.

Zerrett is a hard one, I think I'll hold if he pulls up alright. Only going to be one price drop and no one is going to have the cash generated to make a meaningful upgrade.

Sucks we've copped the 23, but better to happen now than the third game, if he's not named atleast we will have decent options, Cripps could be very tempting.

From all the comments by Essendon doctors / coaches it seems Merrett was fine, but they played it VERY cautiously.

I'd say 2-3 years ago with less focus on head knocks he'd have been back out there.

Annoying to have to cop his low score, but he's a gun. Do not trade.

557 from 6

Laird 124
Doedee 80
Merrett(vc) 23 :(
Smith 91
(Murphy) 34

anti-Merrett teams must be laughing now that they can bring him in after a massive price drop in the next few weeks
nice come from behind win by Essendon :D

It won’t be a huge price drop because it will only be in the 3 week band for one week, not the usual 3 weeks.

Tactical trade for me.

I don't believe anything coaches or team doctors say. Given focus on head knocks, I can see him missing games and/or his time on ground and around the contest being managed.

My calcs suggest if he posts 120s from here his price will drop about 60k. If he scores a few 100s his price will drop 100k.

I'm happy to burn some trades early - having 30 trades allows this. So I'll trade him, looking to bring him back once he's bottomed out. If he plays next week and smashes out 150s over the next few games my risk won't have paid off, but I believe it's a risk worth taking.

What does his price matter?
You'll use two trades to save $100k and by your assumption miss out on him scoring 100s?

You don't physically lose any money if he drops $100k (which he won't do if he scores 100s from here on out, he'll drop $70k looking a SuperCoach pricing).

I just don't get the mentality of dropping a player who will lose value, you've got the 17 point game locked in, trading him out doesn't change that.

Fair enough if you think it's going to have a big impact on his game in the future and you think he's going to be scoring 70s and 80s, then get rid of him, but you can't change the past.

You clearly picked him with a reason, you believed 24hrs ago that he was going to be a top midfielder.

Remember Parker Gaff and Sloanes poor scoring after head knocks over the last couple of years.. im not taking the risk probably trade him to danger i may give him one more game first thou

Price is not the issue for me. I think his scoring will be affected, which is why I mentioned him missing games and being managed.

I posted calcs on pricing for others as the question had been asked. I have a spreadsheet that was put together by one of the coaches panel members, so can plug in various scores to see the outcome.

That's the concern I think if he's playing, carrying a number of sub 100 scores while others pile the points on

If he plays next week maybe see how he goes and judge coming into round 3 who the best option may be, whether we stick with him or trade if he looks concussion affected (Gaff 2016 a good example of scoring mediocrely on return), but if he doesn't get up for next week he's gone, too many points behind the non-Zerrett teams I feel.

For every coach (of the 40% that own him) that jumps ship, there's going to be a coach (from the 60% that don't own him) that jumps on. I won't even bother jumping as the crap score has been copped already. For me, I'm seeing Merret as one of the top averaging players from round 2 to round 22 this year, so I'm sticking by the little snorter ... assuming he's named. If he's not named, then, I'm completely flipping on my justification and going down to Cripps, or Parker, or even Rocky if he shows a bit.

In regards to price movement it's lucky it happened round one, with potentially only one major drop in price. But I normally try and make a move in round 3 after two weeks judgement. Last year I jumped on WHE and Murphy in round 3 and Stef and Newman in round 4, my fortunes turned around after that. Can't remember who I turfed round 3, but round 4 was Shaw and Eddy (used Nank DPP to make room for Stef).

Moreso worried about being a couple hundred points behind the likely non-Zerrett leaders after this week, then that becomes 400-500 points after round 3-4 and you're simply just chasing if say I hold Zerrett and he's either out for a week relying on a rookie score or he scores a run of 60s/70s/80s/90s before coming good before the byes.

Hope my premos and rookies to come perform this weekend and reassure things a bit, but more times than not a blow like that to your score isn't recoverable over a weekend early in the season when you only have 13-14-15 premiums and everyone fields mainly the same rookies.

Apparently he didn't cop concussion in JLT, it was a poke to the eye, so maybe he does get up next week FWIW.

The 60% won't jump on yet though, they'll be banking points through their uninjured/non-concussed premos

Come round 5-6 maybe if say they have a few midpricers who have had a quick rise.

If I dump him I'm likely to jump back on as an upgrade, but it won't be at 809k, it'll be at 650-725 I reckon. Have done the same with Rocky previously once he gets continuity.

If it was anyone else i'd be looking to trade them this week. Merrett is probably the second best Fantasy player in the game, and capable of going 120 for the rest of the season.
Would have to be a confirmed out for me to consider

Anyway got Billings and Christensen in this first game then Neale, Brayshaw and Walters in the Port game

Had a major team reshuffle, trying to chase points

Out: Stef, Hibberd, Langdon, Barry

In: Lycett, Bonner, Menegola, Rischitelli

Can do Boak and Armitage instead of Menegola and Rischitelli also, miss out on Heeney by 5-6k

Should never change your team so significantly so late.
