As posted elsewhere (originally by Patterz123 with thanks) , this is probably a sneak peek of the Eagles' Indigenous Guernsey....

^ It was quickly taken down and replaced with a pic of Jetta in our Navy home Guernsey

Thanks for starting the thread
I really like the Dockers' designs too

i get the feeling it's because apart from the first design (2013? when most clubs didn't have an indigenous design) they have been given the away game every year and have had the same predominantly white design, where as there has been a push to use one for a purple/home game for the fans etc.

Nice to see Freo change it up finally. Obviously they're planning on wearing it in a home game as well this year. If memory serves, I believe this will be the first time two different Indigenous jumpers are worn in the same year by one team.

I read on the website the home guernsey will be worn home Round 15 vs St Kilda.

Strange idea to sell two guernseys- but very glad they've updated the design... somewhat.

I'm assuming as there are home and away versions it will be worn twice? Funnily enough, once at home and once away. Pretty sure West Coast have the Home Game for Indigenous Round?
The home has the starlight logo on it. So I'm assuming they're using it in their purple haze game?

Good to see the Nyoongar clan represented by this design – some of the scariest blokes I ever played against were guys from Mount Barker and Denmark who were 6'2 at age 15 and were pretty happy to rove the ball down to themselves and run through you and hurt you ala Stephen Michael. It's a pity not that many make it to AFL level but that's a discourse more relevant elsewhere. I am pretty sure southern Indigenous art is a little different. Just did some Googling and yeah, this is a good link for people to read up on:

https://www.noongarculture.org.au/art/

Long story short it was warped and changed a little more by interactions with white invaders. Original styles were lost a little and their style changes a lot when they were all taken away and displaced, and they ended up getting a white influence. I think most people in this forum would infer this is 'tidier' or 'rounder' and 'better' for a footy jumper. Personally I prefer northern inland stuff a little more but just some background as to the basic idea behind the design.

FWIW I didn't read about us wearing this but I didn't look too deeply on the FFC website simply because that sort of wanky propaganda the club peddles absolutely shits me. It wouldn't shock me as other clubs have done it, but the most important thing here is to remember the current Freo administration are all about brand continuity and absolutism: Pav was very happy to wear the first jumper he wore for his final game, but the Schteves see everything as either all purple and chevrons, or all white and chevrons. I sort of don't mind the idea of carrying over designs like this for a few years. Thankfully the old design was pretty good and this one is too so I don't think people can complain too much... in a way its sort of helpful having three strict jumpers, as opposed to a proper home, a changing clash, and then a one-off tie-in every year.

So yeah, expect this one to stay for another few seasons too. They probably designed two because who knows what colour the Crows'll go with this year, and yeah, also because we can carry it on for another few years. Might be worth investing in both of these as I still regret not grabbing the original Indigenous strip – we only wore that purple version once and it looked really good.

Or they're keeping it for a few years.
This is the case I reckon. Fremantle simply do not bring in new designs for one-offs anymore, which is both a blessing because we never flirt with shite designs and generally trot out in a good strip, but of course it can be boring and it meant we went sans anchor for Pavlich's final game.
