ESSENDON BOMBERS

Choked hard.
Crucified by horrendous umpiring once again.
Too afraid to speak up about it.
Had no real game plan in around 5 years now.
We get to a great position and decide to stop completely.
It's infuriating, but it's part of supporting this ****ing club.
Callan Ward is a diving grub, yeah. Didn't deserve death threats though, so let's hope people pull their heads in.

ESSENDON BOMBERS 8.7 55 def. by GWS GIANTS 8.11 59

BEST:
Merrett, Ridley, Saad, Hurley, McGrath, Langford
GOALS: Langford 2, Zaharakis, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Shiel, McKenna, Draper, Saad

--------

GOLD COAST SUNS

Fell just short against a St Kilda side which was on a brilliant run of form.
More inside 50s, more contested possessions, and dominated clearances. They just couldn't get the finishing in the 50.
Greenwood has proven to be a shrewd pickup, with Sam Collins also pushing a case for AA with a huge performance from FB.
Jeez doesn't the AFL media love Izak Rankine? Keen to see how slow he makes our defenders look tonight.
This Dew fella can coach.

GOLD COAST SUNS 11.8 74 def. by ST KILDA SAINTS 12.6 78

BEST:
Greenwood, Collins, Miller, Ainsworth, Swallow, Powell
GOALS: King 3, Miller, Powell, Rankine 2, Anderson, Lemmens

DEBUTS:

GOLD COAST - #26 - STUPID SEXY SAM FLANDERS
Pick #11, 2019 National Draft

182cm, 81kg - Mid/Fwd

Selection.png

For a huge hit that didn't even warrant a free kick (apparently), Jacob Townsend will sit out this week with a swollen head after Heath Shaw cannoned into his face early last week. It makes sense to rest big Sammy Draper this week even though he's been in our bests since coming in; four games in two weeks with very short recovery periods after an ACL just isn't smart. Though with that said, replacing him with the veteran Tom Bellchambers confuses me when we have Andrew Phillips waiting in the wings. Michael Hurley has also been managed but has been listed as an emergency, so it wouldn't shock me if he came in for Jordan Ridley who was completely ironed out last week and still isn't 100%. The Marty Party lives on even though the smoke machine has been returned to the rental joint and the beer is running low; whilst he hasn't been awful this year, he's being compared to Ridley. This would make almost anyone look average. After a brilliant game last year tagging Carlton captain Paddy Cripps, Dylan Clarke has finally returned to the senior lineup. A super fit ball magnet when played in position, it would be nice to have some more clearances going our way.

The Suns have remarkably dropped their 2019 leading goal kicker in Alex Sexton. Granted, his performances this year haven't lived up to the lofty standards he'd created for himself last year, but his demotion to the emergencies has raised some eyebrows. Josh Corbett returns to the lineup, replacing the injured Jeremy Sharp. Nick Holman has also found himself dropped to the emergencies, whilst debutant Sam Flanders has grabbed his chanceroonie for a de-diddly-but. Let's hope he's fuelled up on nachos, Flanders style! Cucumbers with cottage cheese.

Jeez it's hard to care at this point. We could be up by 50 odd and we'd find a way to piss it away. And the old mates in bright green would help.

Last year we lost the free kick count 22 to 11. Don't expect any different tonight.

Gotta say, I like it much better when you do the write up 😂

Thanks VelvetSledge for maintaining the rage and putting all the effort into the write up. The game day write up and the we are Essington vids are the highlights from our games. I expect this to continue from tonight's efforts.
And I actually haven't missed doing a preview thread this year... Wow that's unusual.

I really like this write up. It’s my favourite of the year so far. Just the right amount of pessimism mixed with totally not giving a **** anymore. Sums up our season.

well done sir
