If I take Walters I will have 4 premo midfielders missing in round 14. :'(:'(:'(:'(:fire::fire::fire::fire:

The decision should be made on a holisitic view of the impact over the rest of the season

How much do I lose by not having Walters in Rd 14?
Do I get more points across the other 12 rounds than the other choices?
If so how many more and do they offset the Rd 14 loss?
Will I be trading in someone else who I want in my final team? What is the cost differential?
How much is Walters DPP status worth?

etc etc

Say Walters averages 105 for the next 12 games = 1260 points
Rocky averages 95 for the next 13 games = 1235 points

Then it comes down to injury risk, coverage and a bunch of other considerations. If only playing for league or in cash league it's not even a discussion, it's closer for overall ranking and depends where you rate their output

Disregarding byes for a moment Rocky and Walters are not created equal.

- One is a fwd and the other is a mid. A fwd averaging 100 for your team is acceptable, even good. A mid averaging 100 for you final team is poor.

- Both have some injury history. Walters has been OK the past 3 seasons but Rocky has been disgraceful and burned everyone

- Rocky has serious competition for mid places and is not locked to stay in the guts, or may finish in a mid / fwd job share. Walters role is defined through late last year, this PS and this season including last week. He will play high HF and rotate through the middle

- Excluding the injury game Walters is averaging 105 this season which has him in the top 5 fwds, and is priced under 420K. His scores include 146, 132 and 116. The only reason he is so cheap is an injury affected 17 washing through for 3 weeks. Rocky does not have that body of work this yr, a high of 102 and undefined ceiling with his role at Port. The ceiling at Brisbane can't be compared because of different game styles & his role

I get the value of 1 extra game through the byes but to me the pros and cons are not close.

I can't see Rocky part of my final midfield but can see Walters part of my final fwd line. Walters has a more defined role, a higher ceiling, should average more, is less likely to get injured and can be expected to finish near the top of his position. He is just simply better value.

As David Byrne would say.

As we get older and stop making sense
You won't find her waiting long
Stop making sense, stop making sense...stop making sense, making sense

Something keeps me coming back to Rocky though, I don't know what it is? :drunk:

Let me tell you a story young fella.

During the bye rounds last year I was in the top 140. Fast cars, swimsuit models, Cohiba Behike cigars, '92 Grange Hermitage. Life was good.
A luxury trade later and I purchased Mr Rockliff at $645,000.
5 rounds later I was drinking a 5 litre death box on a park bench, collecting cigarette butts from the gutter and couldn't afford a 2 buck hooker.

Think carefully JM.

They actually made a play about that trade.

Who would you use as an upgrade platform out of Spargo and Guelfi?

I'd probably say Spargo as I think Guelfi's js is better.
Yes the JS is one consideration .....both are R13 players .... Spargo has the DPP, which maybe important, and also because I have $146K in the bank, Guelfi is 10K higher priced .....so in looking at the gap between Rocky and my bank acc, that will determine who I pick

I agree with you though, i think my preferred choice would be Spargo to Rocky, because of Guelfi'ss better JS & scoring / earning potential

I just upgraded Spargo to Walters and I do have to say that it looks good. :)

Something keeps me coming back to Rocky though, I don't know what it is? :drunk:
:) Walters was a foundation member of my team ......ATM the plan is to let Fritsche grow to his pre-bye price of $400K & trade to Gray, who should have dropped to $500K by then  ....he'll be my last FWD player

That's the plan

Erodes the value of the pick if you have to go so early on a rook.
Both Guelfi & Spargo are approx 2 weeks from maturity .....go a week early & i may miss $11K on the one i upgrade .....but that can be off-set by possible $$$ increase of the player i bring in ?

Heeney or Lloyd
Out of the top guys i dont have:
DEF: Lloyd, Howe, Ryan, Simpson, McDonald
FWD: Darling, Westhoff, Heeney, McDonald, Caddy, Robinson

You know you rack your head with all the configurations .....and then out of no-where a solution pops up, that's so simplistic, yet you never saw B4

I will say, having Nathan Murphy as my DPP for Sicily, is proving one of my best decisions this year .........he gives me the ability to change Sicily FWD - DEF ....but also i can switch Murphy to whichever zone i may need a loophole option + now is so helpful in upgrading / downgrading players

This week i used Murphy to downgrade Findlayson, to bring in a fwd (Heeney) :thumbsu:

Heeney #1 ......then you can equally mount a case for either Lloyd or Simpson

Considerations:
1. Who has the better fixture
2. Do you want players that have high % ownership, or a POD player ?
3. Players you bring in, must suit your Bye structures .....look carefully at that aspect

Really want Danger in and around my team but I just can't get him in

Lambert, Petracca, Billings, Kreuzer, Hibberd and Parker have legit been the worse 6 premiums I've started in years.

I have no idea how I'm in the top 10k - especially still carrying Petracca and Billings at F3/4. I don't even have Macrae either o_O
Lambert had that run when 4/5 games were 110+. Was great.
