But if my guns fail today I'll still be one of you spuds guys! :)
 Do teams that have been structured around the byes ...beat teams that have taken the bigger picture in mind

I've seen sides with only 1 bye player ....that means, with minor exceptions, no Adelaide, GWS, RICH, CARL, NORTH players

Guess it's equivalent to a Coach having their 15 minutes of fame

I don't know as I have/had a heap of Adelaide & Carlton players. Your starting 22 for instance was stronger than mine pre-byes, but I had less dead rookies than you. Hence I'm going to outscore you by 500-600 points over the byes and turn a 400 point defecit into a 200 point lead. Good times. It was always going to pan out that way as you ignored your cash gen in order to complete your team earlier than others. Hence you've already had your 15 minutes of fame before the byes and not enough trades or cash gen to recover.

If your team is completely lopsided for one bye round you are going to fall hard in the counter week.
The top team had only 4 players from those 4 teams prior to this week.

I went 20/19/20 making 7 trades across the byes. Think it was pretty manageable this year.

It influenced decisions to hold Parker / Duursma / Walsh longer than ideal from cash perspective + bring in Logue and Clarke early - but they were worth an extra player on field across the byes.

We'll see ....if anything, the question of whether to leave $$$ sitting on the bench, just for the Byes, is an interesting discussion

IMO it was simply a lack of timing of available rookies .....many coming on now, which had they occurred 3 weeks ago, wouldn't have left me with so much dead wood on the bench

That said, you weren't confident of your plans 3 weeks out from the bye ......Logue as an example wasn't even in the framework

It's always about timing .....the byes with Rocky was a disaster, ROB last week for his owners, a master stroke

But there's a long way to go Grasshopper

In a cashie;
Grundy + Dunks vs Bont + Pendles + 27.

Reckon Grundy wins this one for me easily.
Hopefully they tag Bont too, just to make sure.

We don't tag

Remember when I posted that I was trading out Rocky before Rd13 and you replied with, "surely it can wait another week?" Well it couldn't and I am 241 points better off for being decisive and trading him out to Marshall when I did, whilst you played a player short 2 weeks in a row. Call it timing, I call it a sliding door moment. Same goes with trading in Logue a week before he even played because I had 18 starters for Rd12 and was thinking a move ahead. No point planning stuff like that 3 weeks+ out as you always brag about because a lot can happen in 3 weeks. Having said that, having Scott wasting away at M11 for as long as you did shouldn't go unpunished.

I don't think compromising your team is too difficult during the byes, just planning beforehand with trade in targets, your team balance and rookies to cull. Ive pretty much gotten everyone I wanted to get in bar the ones I couldnt afford (Marshall/J.Kelly).

There are a hell of a lot of points up for grabs in the byes, I should go from around 1.8k to 600, and thats with a man down in Hurn in the first round.

FWIW I only have ZWilliams and Brouch as my only Crows and Giants players. Also Cripps, but so does everyone.

No other premos on the bye

I have the bigger picture in mind
