Gotta remember that white is our primary clash jumper, so its gonna get first dibs. The gold is supposed to be used as an alternative where it would provide better contrast....

....which makes the decision to wear white against Collingwood totally bizarre. Its arguably the away matchup where the white jumper provides the least contrast.

Could always petition the club?

Also, Sydney's clash with red shorts would have looked mint last night, if only for better contrast.
I would rather see the board petition to see Sydney in a South Melbourne inspired clash jumper in all games in Melbourne with red shorts (except Geelong due to possible "clash")

Any SMFC jumper except the all-red 1920-1922 jumper would be an actual clash, not a possible "clash" - both teams in white jumpers with coloured shorts. Unless they slip into the "traditional rivalry" rule then, hey presto, the rivalry glasses fix our vision.

That's why I wrote the Geelong exception. Nothing against both teams being in white jumpers with coloured shorts, would look fantastic. Unlike the North / Geelong match up from previous seasons, both teams don't share both colours. And the fact that the AFL consider the Sydney red okay against other dark teams works in Sydneys favour.
Sydney should wear the the South clash with red shorts in all away games except Gold Coast, and I'd need to see te matchup against GWS before making my mind up.
Though, ideally I'd like to see Sydney return to a South Melbourne kit permentantly. But I doubt this is going to happen.

I'm not sure that would even clash once you add red shorts and Geelong in blue shorts. Having white in common seems to be bearable when the secondary colour contrasts. E.g Sydney v north white. Could be just me though.

Except the white on Sydney is limited to their tummies, not pretty much the whole guernsey. Which is what it would be with a SMFC-based Sydney top vs Geelong; both jumpers would be totally dominated by white.

Not yet but we only need to see them wear the blue jumper with white shorts.
If it was an "away" jumper it would have been worn tonight. So far this year all North's "hosts" apart from Geelong in Round 2 have been teams who wear blue or purple at home and thus this was the first match where either jumper could be worn. They went with blue, ergo the white is a clash, not an away.

Sorry that's not what I meant.

Personally having clash socks or away socks is a step too far. But that's just me.
Different sock patterns suit different kits. I think the solid blue socks with one red and one gold hoop suit the white and gold jumpers better than the full hoops. Crows seem to have a larger number of "socks up" wearers than other teams.
