Round 18 Trades.

I reckon the whole competition is about to be stuffed....anyone with trades and ranked anywhere in the top 200 could win the whole thing...

Here is my thinkin:

Cox and Pav will both play the western derby then both go in for surgery
Chappy will be out for another 2 - 3 weeks with Geelongs no risk policy + very important player in finals + they have already finished top and who cares if they lose 1 or 2 games, which they wont anyway...
Cats could give Ablett another week on the pine to get him 100%
Jimmy Bartel will get a rest runnin into the finals

Basically, Geelong + Western Australia have stuffed the whole Dream Team comp up for everyone!

You heard it right from the team doctor's mouth here guys

I've still got Chad and looking to get rid of him
I am thinking
i have got 3 trades left

Chad>>Newman
or is it worth it to use 2 trades to upgrade him.
Thoughts?

Ask yourself how many extra points you will get for a Bock / Fisher / Mackie in the last 5 rounds and then decide.

Also include your bench strength in your decision.

Anyone who has used all their trades should be ranked fairly highly. Just because they used all their trades does not mean the competition is stuffed, far from it. It means those who have saved their trades, resisted the temptation to jump on every temporary bandwagon (Thornton anybody?) are quite rightly in with a chance of taking out the big one. DT goes for the whole season, those who "finish" their team or plan to use their last trade to upgrade Ibbo, don't deserve to win this year, but will come back wiser next year.

Every year big name players are rested or miss the last couple - Jimmy Bartel last year, Jonathon Brown I think the year before. Be prepared.

My injury concerns at the moment are:

Chapman
Ablett
Milburn (from last week anyway, but fine for this week)
Pavlich (presume he will be ok this week?)
Porps (unsure about future)
Cox (unsure)

Out of those, I think only Ablett and Chapman are a chance to miss this week. I'm not sure I want to keep Chapman as it sounds like it could be 2-3 week injury. Does anyone think i'm stupid for thinking about trading him? Geelong tend to understate injuries, Chappy's had hammy problems before, only a few rounds until finals and may be rested, and last time he came back from injury took a while to get his DT scores going. I'm going for overall win as well, so that may affect my decision... Problem is, only 2 trades and $0.

Just looking at it... I could go Browne --> Dalziel and Valenti/Porps --> Franklin. That why I could actually keep Chappy, and have Porps/Valenti as an emergency for Chappy.

There's been so many combinations running through my head about the last 2 trades I should do (or should not do)... I don't know what I'll do when I have no trades... will be so bored!

This isn't even a decision for you... you have two guys who can score 70-80 ppg to take his place. Even if Pav misses again, you're OK.

Now, if you didn't have cover, then yeah, you would have to spend the trade. Only 5 weeks left. If you're 100 points behind, you need to make up 20 ppg. If you take a donut and slip back another 80 points, you 've got 4 weeks to make up 180 points; 45 ppg. and if he is out for several weeks... a donut becomes more and more important the closer you come to the end of the comp (trust me - I know... late scratchings cost me 2 donuts this week).

Yeah, you're probably right there... thinking about it again, at worst, I have Tippet as my 9th forward so really should leave my trades for another position. Still, I'm slightly tempted to bring in Dalziel to cover my mids, and get me $100k from trading Browne out (who doesn't really score very well), to use on my last trade. Just worried that I will have to sub in a bench-mid in the last few rounds to cover one of the three geelong mids and Dalziel looks like he could provide good cover...

hmmm, no trades for me this week.

if Milburn and Pavlich return i'm back to full strength.
but Luke Power is a new concern. i noticed his shoulder was strapped up against Richmond (which has not been the case in recent games). thought he laboured on the night .

He picked up a shoulder injury 2 weeks ago against west coast and was in doubt to play against richmond.

Obviously he played, but it was one of his worst games. A massive clanger off a kick in with about 5min left was very very costly:mad:

He should be right this week.

Going to have to trade Goodesy out.

Looking at either using a double trade:

Armfield > Dalziell (need the cash and Dal is getting a game)
And Goodes > Swan

Or could just use a single trade and get someone less than 367K.

Anyone looking at Kane Johnson?
Has averaged 104.5 in his last four (82, 111, 100,125) , since returning from an injury (got 22pts that game so brings his average way down).
Also got 135, 120, 103 rds 4-6.
At 354K, with a low B/E.
Jeez, woulda been a great trade when he was down to 305K rd 15.

Swan has average 102 last 4. So I'm not too sure he is worth the extra cash/trade.
Have Eddy and Armfield on bench.
With rumors of Ablett's return delayed more and Jimmy being rested, it might be handy to have Dalz on the bench instead of Armfield.

With only 2 trades left, it's a very tough decision.

Kane Johnson would be an excellent selection and one i would seriously look at with a better trade situation.

The hard tagging roles seem to be going Tucks way from what i can see and other teams wont tag him considering they have Foley, Deledio, N Brown and others to look at first.

Still great value at 354k

Gotta replace Salopek who apparently is out for the season (can't confirm this). Looking at both Swan and Kane Johnson, leaning towards KJ as the spare $50k would come in handy. He is averaging 100 if you take out that 22pts when he got injured. Also, the tiges are playing adelaide, hawks, freo and melbourne in the last 4 rounds, excellent teams to score highly against.

Kane is a top selection and very consistent, with the only obvious concern he is slightly injury prone (and tendency for self-imposed suspension for making pee pee). Also he tends to do the tagging rather than the other way around.

Swan is a gun and due for a ripper I think, so it depends whether you really need the money at this stage (you have said it would come in handy). I don't think you can go wrong with either, it just depends on the other trade and whether you need te 50K for a more serious upgrade.

I have many injury worries but at least three season ending injured players (C Cornes, B Jones and Salopek) that need replacing with the my last three trades. I've had cushy run (been winning with 2 zeros for the past few weeks) and haven't need to trade as I'm concentrating on my league - where the worst I will finish is third. But as the DT finals approach I don't want to caught short so will make two trades this week. My coverage in the backs was meant to be Jake (I can't get a game) King and Dennis (ow my finger hurts) Armfield.

My options are like-for-like trades as I only have $5k in the bank:

C Cornes and Bones to the likes of Drummond Birchall Welsh etc
Salopek to Hayes, Mitchell etc

or a more risky strategy

Salopek to Dalziell
CCornes/Bones to premium backs such as Bowden, Mackie, Fisher S.

I'm tempted by the latter.

Dec

This is my team here :
4 trades left.

How does this option sound?

Week 1
Butler :)rolleyes:) ----> Dalziell + $140 000
Chad ----> Mackie - $75 800

Week 2
Chappy ----> Rob Murphy + $70 000 odd
Urqhuart ----> Goddard

I'm thinking of trading Chappy for either Corey (430K), K. Cornes (390K) or Hayes (340K). I will have 5 trades after this one, so the extra cash may come in handy if Hayes can score up around the 100, I'm leaning towards him.

Any suggestions?

i have porplyzia, chapman and tredrea. they are my only concerns at the moment with 4 trades left

im thinking trading tredrea > pavlich... does anyone know for sure if pav will be back this week, and will he see out the year? or is there a chance he'll go in for surgery?

i think unless porplyzia kicks another bag of 5 goals, he'll score around the 50-60 mark, his shoulder is seriously screwed, and will more than likely cause him trouble on saturday.. therefore im considering using valenti on the field and benching porpy

chapman i doubt will play, being so close to finals he'll be extra extra cautious in his approach to coming back IMO, however i cant afford to trade him as well

given this, im thinking:

trade tredrea for pavlich

substitute chapman for valenti

and pray that porpy can produce some more magic :(

Who would people choose as an upgrade for Chappy? Will be able to afford any forward. Would look at Riewoldt, Franklin, Richo, Murphy, N Brown, SJ. Haven't looked at the draw for the final 5 rounds, but I have a bad feeling Chappy will miss at least 3 given his injury earlier this year and Geelong being extra cautious with his recovery.

I need some advice.

I have 5 trades left.

Is it worth trading two cashcows and going charman up to Cox leaving me two trades??

OR

Upgrade other players such as Osbourne, D.Thomas, Ibbotson and maybe going Charman to Sandilands or Hille????

Advice please:thumbsu:
