Round 18 trades

Hey guys,
after a few thoughts, i need to make some money to do my final upgrades, who should i trade in out of;
Callinan
Talia

and who do i trade out;
Darling
Howe
Tapscott

i get the most money out of Darling but im a bit hesitant to keep both howe and tapscott as bench cover...any help appreciated!!

Callinan might be back from injury this week. Scores well and will keep his spot in the team for the rest of the year once he comes back (barring injury of course).

Talia i am not too sure about. He was talked about fairly highly during pre season but then got injured. Didn't manage to watch the Adelaide game this week and i can't comment on his JS. Would probably trade in Callinan.

Darling has been struggling of late and might be struggling to hold his spot. If he does get dropped he won't be out for long IMO but his scoring has been down.

Howe and Tapscott both have pretty good JS and can score fairly well.

Would probably go Darling to Callinan.

My team currently is:

Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Fisher, Heppel, Adcock, Duffield (Otten, Howard, Lisle)
Murphy, Boyd, Swan, Pendlebury, Mitchell, Montagna (Harris, Hibberd, Callinan)
Cox, Goldstein (Smith, Derickx)
O Keefe, Goodes, Pavlich, Sylvia, Franklin, Giansiracusa, N. Riewoldt (Knights, Mzungu, Richardson)

I have 9 trades left and $20,500 left.

Was thinking given Knights hasnt been playing and with Mzungu reasonable forward cover to downgrade Knights to Talia this week. Then given Heppel's bye in the last round to trade him out to Suckling or Birchall, thoughts?

Any ideas on the best trades I should be doing?

Yes Getting rid of Knights and trying to get in Suckling or Birchall is a good plan. Either of the hawks are good choices so personal preference I guess.

I noted you have Gibbs and Murphy. With 9 trades you shouldn't have a problem but you will need to cover both during a finals bye. Personally I'd be looking to upgrade Otten and maybe keep Heppell as cover. Just a thought.

Wanted to go Shaw to Duffield and Martin to Fyfe but of course i am 2k short.

Could possibly hold off another week for Duffield to drop in price or could bring in someone like R.Murphy?

Or i could sideways trade Martin to Bartel. Thoughts on him? He looks like he has started to hit some form.

Shaw has ruined all my plans

My thought was just that Otten is providing good cover at the moment and doesnt have the bye during finals time so will be good to keep over Heppell. Gibbs and Murphy I should be able to cover during their bye, as I might look at bringing in Ablett for Harris and then will have Montagna as the 7th midfielder, plus hopefully I will not be playing in my main league the week of Carlton's bye. We shall see, am probably leaning towards bringing in Suckling at the moment though

Hmmm, time to start planning for the rest of the season.

Team: (6 trades, 3.5K in bank)
Backs: Gibbs, Enright, Deledio, Fisher, Goddard, Adcock, Heppell
Bench: Hibberd, Puopolo, Toy

Mids: Swan, Pendles, Boyd, Murphy, Mitchell, Bartel
Bench: Mzungu, Jacobs, Prestia

Rucks: Cox, Leuenberger
Bench: Z.Smith, Bailey

Forwards: Chapman, Goodes, Pavlich, Franklin, Riewoldt, Sylvia, Didak
Bench: I.Smith, Howe, Lynch

Current Plan:
Round 18: Didak, Howe OUT; Callinan, Fyfe IN
Round 20: Z.Smith, Hibberd OUT; M.Curnow, Ablett IN*
Round 24: Heppell OUT; Suckling IN**
With one trade up my sleeve for a LTI.

Comments:
*Need to hold off in Round 19, given Adcock and Deledio will be bye-ing here. Hibberd needed to cover (and Puopolo).
**Or whenever Hirdy rests Heppell. If it's before or on Round 20, might swap Hibberd and Heppell above.
Surviving on two trades from Round 21 doesn't fill me with confidence. Is Bartel good enough for a M6, given Ablett will be so nicely priced in the next couple weeks? Or should I trade Bartel for Ablett? Bartel's decent cover as a M7 though.

Thoughts, fellow DTers? I'm going for a League win, but I'd like to aim as high as I can in overall, too.

Bringing Bartel in, eh? I'd be wary of having him as a M6, as he's been inconsistent. A couple big scores doesn't bring him back to his glory days a couple years ago. If you don't have Ablett, grab him. If not, in order of preference:
Swan, Mitchell, Pendles, after this, ask me again =)

Bartel is definitely good value for money right now, but he hasn't been his old reliable self for much of last season and all of this one. Plus his finals bye is a turn-off, unless you're going for league and are pretty confident of finishing top 4 and winning your first final

Current team:
Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Broughton, Heppell, Adcock, Stanley (Lower, Hibberd, Golby)
Swan, Ablett, Pendles, Boyd, Bartel, Hodge (B.Jacobs, Mzungu, ISmith)
Cox, ZSmith (Bailey, Lobbe)
Pavlich, Goodes, Chapman, Sylvia, Petrie, Franklin, NRiewoldt (Knights, Howe, CRichardson)

10 trades, $319,400 ...going for league win

Thinking, this week:
1) Hibberd > Suckling (Stanley to the pine)
2) Knights > Fyfe (Swap Petrie with Lobbe, ZSmith to the pine)
Then next week:
3) CRich > Callinan
4) Lower/Adcock/Heppell > Fisher

assuming Callinan misses one more week. If not, then swap trades 2 and 3.
Team would be complete with plenty of DP flexibility and 6 trades for cover.
I think it sounds good in theory, watch a few injuries stuff it all up though I'm sure!

It would be good if you could give us your entire team or midfield. If you don't have him than i think Montagna could be a good get. Adds a bit of uniqueness and he avg 112 or something last year and seems to have recovered from injury and hit some decent form. Has avg 103/104 if you don't include injury interrupted games. He also plays Adelaide than gold coast in the next two weeks, so you have the enjoyment of some big scores which we always like when we bring in a new player.

Backs :
Gibbs - Deledio - Goddard - Suckling - Shaw - Adcock - Otten
S: Jacobs - Nicholson - Toy

Midfield is :
Ablett - Swan - Pendles - Watson - Montagna - Martin
S: Scully - Mzungu - Prestia/Smith/Callinan/Didak

Rucks :
Cox - Smith
S: Lobbe/Petrie - Derrikx

Forwards :
Johnson - OKeefe - Sylvia - Rioli - Lecras - Petrie - NRoo
S: Didak/Callinan/Prestia/Mzungu/Smith

Was planning to sit with Otten/Jacobs as my m7 due to the weakness of backs this year. Unfortunately Adcock dropped off since and now Shaw gone for the season.

Was hoping Martin could keep up his mid season form and Scully looked promising. Really was going for uniqueness and hasn't come off

I dont think you have the luxury of upgrading Martin with that team. You need to work on that back line by upgrading Shaw and Otten.

Might go I.Smith -> Montagna.

That way I can keep Boak but he can stay on the bench for punishment! Will also be a handy back up for Boyd and Bartel byes.

Couple quick questions:

Who do I upgrade to Fyfe: Didak or I.Smith?
Who do I downgrade to Callinan: I.Smith or Mzungu?

(Log in to remove this ad.)

Q1 - Didak
Q2 - Mzungu

Who do i ditch: Lynch or Howe?

Who do i bring in: Silvia, Cloke or ROK?

Are you upgrading in the forward line? Tough one. If you have to do it this week, I'd go Lynch to Cloke. Lynch is inconsistent - he can get 80 one week and 20 the next. Not good if you need him for cover. Cloke is risky, but he's got no byes left, is playing the GC this week, and is better than Sylvia (been going average lately) and ROK, who still has a bye left. ROK is safer, but Cloke could potentially rip up the park. Unfortunately, Cloke plays Geelong in R24, which is the DT League GF week, which may be a factor...

Thanks for your response. Any reasons why? I.Smith is cheaper than Dids and avging more, but he's been a little inconsistent, i.e. 50 one week, 130 the next. Not to say Didak's been doing any better. But I agree, I think Mzungu's peaked, compared to I.Smith.

Which premium defender should I swap Shaw for?

Current backline (Toy also to be upgraded to premium before finals):

1. Gibbs 2. Deledio 3. H. Shaw 4. Fisher 5. Adcock 6. Heppell 7. Lower
8. Jacobs 9. Howard 10. Toy

Goddard or Suckling. Both had their byes, both decent runs home (Suckling especially).
Goddard if you want to play it safe. Suckling (or possibly Broughton) to gain a point of difference from most teams. IMO wouldn't consider anyone outside these 3!

What's wrong with fisher ? I am thinking about upgrading shaw to him

I have currently

Gibbs, Goddard, Suckling, Broughton, Enright, Deledio, Hibberd.

Which option is best

Have a full team but need to get rid of one Heath Shaw

I have 5 trades and 110k

Trade Shaw to an 80k back/mid and move Heppell to the backs (4 trades and 350k)

Trade Shaw to Suckling (4 trades 70k)

Thinking that there is probably only 10 points beetween Heppell and Suckling so the first option is best?

OK Boys I need some advice!

I am torn with what to do with my last 3 trades. I have 2 plans.

Option 1.

I.Smith > Talia
Shaw > Birchal
Bartel > any premium mid let's say Mitchell

Option 2.

Mzungu > Winmar (Giving me a bench DPP so I can play Fyfe in the Fwd's and have N Roo on the bench)
Prestia > Fyfe (Giving me a bench premium roving cover for the Mids and forwards)
Shaw > Birchall

Option 3.
Don't trade.

Finish teams would be (In order of average). Blue is the changes. Red is premium cover.

Option 1. (In order of average except for Adcock and Heppell)

Gibbs, Suckling, Birchall, Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Heppell (Adcock , Jacobs, Toy)

Swan, Mitchell, Boyd, Redden, Hodge, Montagna (Mzungu, Prestia, Callinan)

Cox, Petrie (Vardy, Tippett)

Chapman, Franklin, Pavlich, ROK, Sylvia, Gian, N Roo (Lobbe, Talia, Lynch)

Cox, Petrie (Vardy, Tippett)

Chapman, Fyfe, Franklin, Pavlich, ROK, Sylvia, Gian (N Roo, Lobbe, Lynch)

Option 3. (In order of average)

Leave my team as it is.

Is just Shaw -> Birchall not an option?

Theres no point just leaving shaw rotting on the bench, but i wouldnt want to be using all my trades with so many rounds left.

If you can't afford Shaw -> Birchall then maybe just do Shaw -> S. Martin? or Newman.

I would strongly advise against using all 3 trades though.
