We won't miss the finals because Carlton play WCE twice

If we miss the finals it's cause we're not good enough to win enough games to qualify - there'll be no one to blame but ourselves
You believe there is no possible way it can affect us. They play West Coast twice.
Or are you saying it is in our hands and no big deal.
They are two separate things.

Nigel Lappin

Rohan - ankle capsule swelling - not bad but bad enough to not risk it.

Menegola - just managed him this week. Could have played but didnt need him to push it.

Tagging Neale - prob put a few players thru him all game long. Need to use multiples to sit on him. Want to get him under 10 clearances.

Axe - great persona nd great plyer for the team. Ultimate team man and proud to have him. He had to work his ring off to get here. Deserves it.
Massive defensive work. He then allows, with BLitz and Bruhn, allow the free running mids to get off the chain a bit. Cant have one with out the other.
Tommy Atkins is a key to us.

On Bruhn - hes going really well and progressing better as the season goes.

CAmeron - expect rotate people thru him. Atkins, Kolo, JAck Henry - can all play on the smaller ones. Mullen also if we need his speed on him.

Hawk had a good 35th bday and some great cake.

We lost a month of footy at the start of the year because the team rocked up fat from an extended break. It wasn't a professional start to the year. If anything, that will be the defining factor of the season. Not the fact that Carlton are playing West Coast.

THIS COMPETITION IS SO COMPROMISED THAT IT IS A JOKE.

Carlton play West Coast for the second time and get a massive percentage boost.
They also have a very easy run home.

We could miss due to this. What a joke.
The Blues missed the 8 last year and we won the flag, they should get an easier run than us throughout the year.

The fixture is never truly even for any club.

It might be unlucky, but it's not unfair for us.

That's a pretty big myth that keeps getting repeated without any solid basis

Don't forget that plenty of senior players were back at the club & involved in pre-season training with the youngster from day 1 of the 1st to 4th year players training sessions

Yes there were some veterans that had longer off as is permitted under the AFLPA CBA, but the whole club didn't decide to put their feet up over summer & do nothing

Multiple players have literally talked about it publicly.

And even if they hadn't, you could see it in the playing group. Their guts were bulging and they weren't prepared for the first round.

You're welcome to your opinion. I just feel like I'm calling a spade a spade, based on what I saw.

Not sure Menegola is an ideal sub candidate
Agree. We don’t seem to really have one as we have discussed before (other than someone already in best 22)

Sav couldnt be one. Dempsey and Mitch they wanted to get another full game into VFL (and glad they did as both good today).

I thought Oisin might be a good sub option (build, pace, a little older) but he wasnt last week (1 touch) - maybe they see the same as I do and give him another shot?

Issue I have is that managola didn’t play either? Makes no sense

Managing his knee soreness - Lappin said as much on KROCK.

You mean the piss take of in interview with Cameron? With the media training players to through now days, don't be surprised if some comments in the media are for a laugh or joke with teammates to see who takes its seriously

And I'm pretty sure you will find that the vast majority of the players weren't slacking off over summer, especially as there were are more players involved with pre-season training from early on compared with those who weren't

We had some guys dealing with injuries who likely didn't get much training in until closer to the start of the season, while some who always seem to look like they're carrying extra weight but often that's just the way some people are

Our first month is also a reflection of a repeated late starts to the pre-season, and injuries to key players who were either then limited offer summer or weren't available for the early rounds

I'm sure there were a few players who enjoyed the premiership win & continued the celebrations for a while, but we didn't start the season by sending out 22 unfit players who hadn't been training

If they weren't managing Menegola this week, I would have been tempted to have him replace Rohan and play as a marking high half forward option, with Tuohy as sub

But with them giving Mena the week off, this seems the most logical choice from the available options

All good mate - you have your view, I have mine. I know a disciplined, well-oiled team in the first round when I see it.

We weren't it. That's on us.

Mullin is a good type of player for sub. But would probably he just play full games in the VFL rather than be sub in back to back games. The more he plays the better at this stage I think

They must really like him as much as the hype pre season. Big ask for him to come on in a hot game and have an impact off the bench if required.
