Trades Round 4 trades

Jeez I got to go back and check how it’s been calculated this season. Maybe because of the shorter games each point short of BE carries more weight?

That’s strange though.. using the old way I worked out Simpkin rising 40k and was just about spot on.

Yeah you’re right

Like every season the total price rises are balanced across the league.

Bulldogs announced Louis Butler DEF/MID 170k will debut this Thursday
Hmmm, interesting.

Was assuming McAdam would be named and was going to trade Pickett for him but Butler is a running defender so has got to score better than McAdam.

Also being an outside player he's not coming in as a like for like for Dunkley so a chance to keep his spot if he plays well.

Only my opinion but with Williams, Greene, Xerri, Georgie Artis and Davis not playing and with Cameron and Pickett a possibility of being dropped I think you need to make a full rookie trade week, or at least 2/3.
You have a great team but I can see you dropping like a stone due to low cash generation in a few weeks.

FOr example my only non-playing rookie is Cavarra who I am happy to hold for VC loop hole of needed which means I am making around $150k more a week than you.

Trades like...(if Cameron dropped and I'm assuming you have some cash in the bank)
Greene > Butler
Geirgie > McAdam
Then a rookie to the best midpricer you can afford like Ridley, Butler (Saints), Bewley or maybe you have the cash to go from Cameron to Simpkin

Only 16k left at the moment

Priorities:
Underperforming 'premiums': Houston, BSmith, MacPherson, Brayshaw. Ideally one of these out.
Dunkley
Potentially multiple rookies out: Sturt confirmed, McInerney? Pickett? T Brown? (as well as Bedford, Georgiades already).
Getting Pittonet in.

Naismith in or out will be important. And may not have any rookies to worry about, or any targets to get in. We shall see.
If Naismith is in:

Nic Nat to Pittonet (126k earned, similar scoring)
Dunkley sideways to another best 22 player eg. Lloyd, Petracca, Cripps, Simpkin? Neale?
Then depending on cash remaining and teams will upgrade one of that list (Houston/Bsmith/DMac/Bray)

Grundy hasn't really truly punished yet though. Even if he averages 100, it's still not enough given that there are multiple guys going at 90 that are 250-300k cheaper than Grundy! Pittojet is a must have, he's rising another 50k this week! And if Naismith plays then I also can't get rid of him, he plays against Speakano so I expect an 80+ and a 40k+ increase from him as well.

I see Pittojet scoring close to 70 every week, which means he outscores every one of my rookies except Rowell. I could do a lot with the 500k from Grundy, could maybe remove all rookies from field, except for Rowell and Starce, over the next couple of weeks.

The only downside is that I will say goodbye to Grundy forever probably, he won't ever dip below 850k unless he gets an injury affected score. But Goldstein later on in the season may be good enough.

GRUNDY OUT

I'd give up both kidneys to get Grundy in right now. Fantasy life isn't worth living without him. Don't do it!

My thoughts...
Keep Bray, GC and Adel coming
Keep NN, low B/E

Dunkley > Neale
Beford/Georgie/Brown/Pickett > Butler
DMac > Simpkin

Yes you may miss out on Pitt but as I said above, I believe carrying more than 2 non playing rooks will kill you in 4-5 weeks. You have 3 and could have 6!!

I have 1 (for VC loophole) but will possibly have 6 rooks that will be priced at more than $450k in 3 weeks and another 5 who should be pushing $350k!!

Ahh can't shake the feeling of rookie carnage this week. As mezaire stated, I also think you're asking for trouble having more than 2 rookies not playing - works well short term as we've seen with nearly all of the top 100 players (I had a look) but in a month's time, making cash off a sideways trade you made weeks ago to a bloke that's no longer performing just won't cut it.

It's tough though because that being said, you're also asking for trouble trading in the Cavarra types of the world where they're one and done.

Can we have normal football back please?

Been building myself a little cash pile but don’t think I’ll be using much of it this week:

Tom Green -> L.Butler
Cumming -> Weller
Dunkley -> Simpkin

Gets rid of 3 players that aren’t playing in exchange for a couple of role-friendly value picks (both potential keepers) and a cash cow. Leaves me with $305k to make an upgrade or two next week.

It would be interesting to see how many confirmed non-playing and potential non-playing rooks everyone has.

Most of the best rooks get a go at the start of the year and with the shorter season I reckon there maybe less decent downgrade options as the year progresses.

I'm currently holding:

Not playing= McInerney, Davis, Xerri, Madgen (pre this week's trades)

At risk= Pickett, T.Brown, D.Cameron

I think McInerney will play, he was only a late out due to match ups.

After trades my playing sub $400k players are
Starc, Brander, Rivers, Butters, Rowell, Anderson, Buderick, Bennell, McInerney, Pitt, Naismith, King and Taylor.

Non-playing Cavarra.

I spent up last week and went Brown to McGrath and have got rid of Pickett this week.
Although I'm ranked 12,000th and am 700 odd points behind, my team value is only $200k off 1st and better than about 25% of the top 100.

Really hoping Rankine and McAdam aren't named for another couple of week so a few rooks can fatten a bit more!!

Any other rooks on the radar?

Not playing - Cavarra
At risk - Pickett, Brown, Cameron, Ash, McInerney

Again, part of why i feel like those sitting in the top 5000-10000 or so who have been prioritizing cash gen are going to be able to make up ground quick on the top 100 or so.

Currently rocking on field: Starcevich, Rivers, Rowell, Anderson, Taylor, Budarick. Feel comfortable with all their job securities for now, Taylor only one i could see potentially losing his spot anytime soon, maybe Rivers as well considering he isn't a set part of the team yet, he looks the goods though.

Rookies on bench: Mcasey, Brander, Pickett, Bennell, Naismith, Sturt, King, Cameron.

Of those on bench, all have been playing other than Naismith, but fairly certain Cameron and Sturt don't play this week, and worried about Pickett potentially as well. But at least i have those rookies on field and about 2/3 of my bench generating cash at this stage, hoping Sturt isn't out too long as well (have no idea how long he is meant to be out with his ankle?)

Stanley out. Looks like Maximus has Fort this week. Yes please

Was tempting enough already against Stanley... now that he’s up against Fort it’s almost sell-the-farm territory

Rankings have far less to do with smarts then it does luck. I would listen to ANYONES thoughts. I don't even care what their current ranking is
Especially at the infant stage of such a different season like this. Most of the top 1k is made up of freak teams that won’t be close at the business end.
