Totaly agree, and Cameron , 2 of his goals resulted in him with clear hands in the back of his man and one was a clear push and it wasnt even mentioned. (i had a mate watch it with me who doesnt follow AFL and he even seen it) terrible

Plus one a soft free to him for in the back and one mark he juggled twice then dropped it.

Can anyone say with a straight face that they thought we'd win by much more than 7 goals? We're shit, if you weren't aware.

The 3 ruckmen desperation selection needs to end. Roughead isn't a defender and Cordy is pathetic in a one-on-one up forward.

Collingwood will annihilate us next week and they're a shadow of the team they were.

Fumbly game, but 4 of the best backs in the team missing doesn't help.

Cooney was solid without being outstanding. Griffin was very good. Cordy had a great first half. His second half was good, but with Roughead being subbed off he spent more time in the ruck so it may have appeared that he didn't do as much.

I know it was only GWS but Higgins looked pretty decent. Out of the more senior players not named Boyd or Cross he looked the most interested from the start. He could have easily just jogged his way through the game but he did the hard stuff that he wasn't doing last season. A thumbs up game from me. Not amazing, but good.

I just hope they start to click with the game plan soon. It will especially help their disposal and handle of the ball. At the moment you can almost see them thinking about what they need to do, which is creating extra pressure they don't need.

I hope they liked their Canberra holiday because thats how they played. Terrible game to watch imo.
Wallis impressed again as did Cordy in the first half. Picken did his job as he always does and got a bit of the ball too. I can hardly remember Ward's name being called out.

I hope we wake up before next week.

Very poor performance today. Good to get another win though.

As its been said, the 3 talls needs to go. Against a good Collingwood side we will get destroyed being top heavy so we will need to inject some more run into the side.

The usual suspects were all good today (Griffen, Boyd, Cross, Cooney), as was Wallis again. He seems to have more self confidence now which is good news. Though Liberatore was great as the sub, needs a full game next week.

Saw it a bit differently from most here.
Higgins looked liked he has bought into Maccas game plan, doing the things Gia should have been doing. Happy with him tonight.
Grant was effective in parts happy with his efforts.
Cordy did really well second efforts really good, just needs to stick a few marks. Dropped off a bit.
Jones needs to go back to VFL to regain some confidence, swap with Hill to give him a taste, for 2 or three games.
Sherman showed what we have been missing, and along with Tutt, could be a real weapon
Libba is a gun, as is Wallis when he plays his own game.
We need Minson to Ruck most of the game 3 rucks doesn't work
Why play Roughie back when we have a good KP defender in Talia (i know his kicking is suspect but as we handball it in the backline all the time that wouldn't be an issue)
Vez should be played forward mid not back mid.
Easton Wood needs to go back to the 2s to get some form, turnover king.
Addison try's hard and gives everything, but its just not enough.

The backline is a rabble, and the sooner it gets settled the better.

We are not that bad, we just need to get the team balance right, and some skills practice wouldn't go astray.
If we can ever get our best 22 on the field at one time, and we are missing about 6 at least, mostly in the backline we will be much more competitive.

Good

Wallis
Libba
Cordy
Griffen
Boyd
Higgins (1st half)
Djekurra

Average

Dahlhaus
Minson
Murphy
Cooney
Picken (only for doing a job on Ward - his disposal is horrendous)
Lake

Poor

The rest

Dreadful

Wood

We're a really poor side at the moment. Even blokes that are usually great by foot like Bob are making errors.

Pains me to say it, but Cross needs to go. He is absolutely all heart and guts and would die for the club, but he just cannot kick.

Ditto Addison. You've got to admire his attitude and his guts and attack on the ball, but he just makes way too many errors.

Easton Wood has gotta be on very thin ice, been absolutely woeful so far this year. If he's not dropped this week he'd want to improve drastically against the pies (yeah, right) otherwise he's gotta be dropped.

As said above, the only thing that saves Picken's game from being listed as poor is that he did a job on Ward. It was mooted on here during the off season that he could spend more time as a permanent midfielder. Today showed exactly why he should not be. Aside from being dreadful by foot, WTF was he thinking when we actually for once did a nice kick into the 50, he marked it and then inexplicably played on and got caught holding the ball? Madness.

Our system and patterns of play are all over the shop. I'd like to know what exactly the plan is when we're moving the ball forward. The players look like they've got no idea.

It would have been an unmitigated disaster had we lost to either Melbourne or GWS, but in both games it has been clear that we have a long road ahead of us.

Everytime Falou went near the ball or touched it. Dunstall made it so obvious to point out what he was doing right and how good it was. Most of the time Falou did nothing.
It was the most blatant over calling i've ever heard.

Well selection looks pretty easy this week with as Austin, Roughead and Wood cannot possibly retain their spots on that effort, that's half the backline today and Addison was only marginally better. Roughead needs to go back and ruck at VFL level not be wasted as a defender. I have never seen so many missed 2 metre handballs than Wood has had this year, he is desperately out of form, Austin just isn't up to it.

Agree with everything you say except what to do with Jones. IMO he needs an experienced tall to take the pressure off him. Whe Morris comes back, would like to see Lake up there, who would certainly attract the oppositions attention.

Cross, Wood and Addison- can't see them staying in the team when a few guys come back.

why, he was one of our best? He won't be going anywhere if he keeps playing like he has in last 2 weeks, our backline is the shambles at the moment.

Your right but unfortunately we don't have one.
The only reason i said he needs to go back is that his confidence, being double teamed each week must be having an effect. That and his kicking for goal.
WE have a ready made replacement in Hill, if just for a game or two, to see what he has to offer, give him a taste, give Jones a rest/confidence boost(hopefully he kicks a bag in the 2s).
We need to find out who we have that can provide an option in our forward line in years to come, we already know Jones is one, lets find out who else we have.

Review - Road to Success

Ok, we are kidding ourselves if we believe that we will be contenders in the next 3-4 years. We need to start planning for the future and make some tough calls. It's been a while since I've seen us play consistent turn over football. We have no Forward structure what so ever and need a complete rebuild by the years end. Otherwise, we can sit back and minor change the list and continue to struggle for years.

Addison, Dylan - Like his commitment, however, Prefer to move him on at years end.

Boyd, Matthew - One of best players, won't be apart of future success although we be a good leader for future Captains Wallis/Liberatore.

Cooney, Adam - Can't do much with him. Take a massive pay cut and keep him around as experience and a small forward for the future.

Cordy, Ayce - Play him as a backman, won't be a superstar but will hold down a position in a successful side as he improves.

Cross, Daniel - Like the guy but needs to be traded at the end of the year for a 3rd/4th Rounder. End of an era for a lot of those blokes in his age group.

Dahlhaus, Luke - Gun, one of the best pick ups over the past few years. Will be one of the better players in years to come.

Dickson, Tory - Not too sure about Tory. Need to see more of him.

Djerrkura, Nathan - I'm not a big fan although is showing a little more than most. Would keep him around as a backup option.

Giansiracusa, Daniel - One of the players that we need to make a tough call on. No positives to keep him around for on field success. Shake hands at years end and move him on. Delist/Trade

Gilbee, Lindsay - Should of been delisted last year. Won't be part of any future plans for success.

Grant, Jarrad - We all need to get over that he'll never be a star that we all hoped. No value in trading him and is young, need to hold on to him for now.

Griffen, Ryan - Our best player. Still young and need to build the midfield around him. A grader of the very few we have.

Hargrave, Ryan - Thanks for the service- Delist

Higgins, Shaun - Frustrating player. Really thought he was going to be a star of the competition. Won't get much if we trade him. Needs to play in the forward line and work on his 2nd/3rd efforts.

Hill, Tom - Heard some good things about him. Give him a go this year. Can't do much worse than the others up forward.

Hooper, Andrew - Delist

Howard, Christian - Believe we all over rate him. Personally don't think he'll be a star. Need to see more of him.

Jones, Liam - Really want to see him play CHB- Awkward kick for goal and will never really damage teams on kicking ability. Potential to become a great CHB.
Lake, Brian - No real positive for future plans. Can't get nothing for him at years end. Play him forward when possible so we can use Jones back.

Liberatore, Thomas - Will be part of our elite midfield in years to come. Play him week in week out.

Markovic, Lukas - His a real competitor although will never be part of a successful Premiership side. Backup

Minson, William - Might be worth some value at the end of the year to a team like GWS/G.C . Might be worth a trade for a 2nd Rounder.

Moles, Brodie - Didn't realise he was even on the list. Never really gets a go. Thought he did ok when given an opportunity.

Morris, Dale - Sad to say, Don't think he will be around when we are ready for success. Love the bloke and will stay at the club until his body can't go on. Hope his back on the track soon.

Mulligan, James - Delist

Murphy, Robert - Still think he has another 2-3 years of good football left in him. May be our Craig Bradley. One of the better players each week. Hope he can hang in there when we are ready to take the step up.

Panos, Matthew - Should be given a go this year. Nothing to lose. Need to find out more about the bloke to see if he can handle AFL.

Pearce, Daniel - ???

Picken, Liam - Keep him as a tagger

Roberts, Fletcher - ?

Roughead, Jordan - Will be our number 1 Ruckman, Think he will improve to become a good solid player.

Sherman, Justin - Adds speed to our midfield - Still fairly young. Part of the future.

Skinner, Zephaniah - Still not sure on him. Seems to go missing on reports i have heard and doesnt work hard enough.

Smith, Clay - Will be a good player. Very young and will play a big part of our elite midfield.

Talia, Michael - heard good reports. Needs to play games this year.

Tutt, Jason - Really got high hopes for this bloke. Hope to see him this year as I think he'll play a big part if the bulldogs will succeed in the coming years.

Veszpremi, Patrick - Still unsure on Pat, Need to see more of him this year.

Wallis, Mitchell - Will be part of our new era to take the bulldogs to the top.

Williams, Tom L. - Still have hopes for Tom. Believe he will still be around for our next hit at the top.

Wood, Easton - This bloke can frustrate me also. I see potential in him but does let me down with decision making and basic skill errors. Really has a go and I'm sure he can improve to be around for success.

Campbell, Tom - I'm going to add this bloke in here from the Rookie list. Really think we can persist with him this year as a full forward marking tall while Jones learns to become a CHB. Think Campbell should be given go this and believe he may become a surprise packet for the future.

Hopefully we can receive 2 Top 10 draft picks this year to really set us up for the future.

I think our future midfield looks very bright but really need to find a Forward key position prospect and Solid Key Back. Try and use a 2nd round pick on a Ruckman. The club needs to make tough calls and a total rebuild is the only way to succeed.

And I would prefer if people like you supported a different Club.

People like you who are happy with our performance vs GWS should gtfo, did you take a look at that first quarter? do you honestly think that 40 point win was acceptable?. Now what is the best result for our club, a disappointing 40 point win that will be forgotten in the short term or a very bad loss that will be forgotten in the short term but will yield us extremely high draft picks?

Sure its a laugh losing to an expansion side but look at Port Adelaide now, they have made SIGNIFICANT improvements and have leapfrogged us, the loss is just a thing of the past and its not weighing down on the players now.

Your line of thought indicate you dont want the best for our club which is the best chance at securing a premiership in the future, you should microwave your membership.

I think the other thing people have to realise is there is a lot of experimenting/learning curves from the coaches, If Macca was serious about winning by as much as possible in this game Grant wouldn't have been sent down back, Lake wouldn't have been wasted on Folau with Austin left on Cameron etc

I'm as disappointed as anyone about the performance of the team today, and I agree that we're a long way off a flag, but I absolutely despise the idea that we would tank. Hardly creates a winning culture does it?

While tanking does admittedly have a substantial benefit (higher picks), the very idea of it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

And to be suggest that because I'm against tanking, that I don't want the best for the Club is ridiculous. But you are entitled to your opinion

Yea he said that in the post match presser, played 8 players in different positions or something. Still not really an excuse for how bad the players were at some parts of the game though.

I agree, our backline is a bit of a rabble at moment, Wood can't even hit handball targets 2 metres away but just saying that some people need to rein in expectations and realise what is going on.

The only team that is an absolute shambles due to tanking is Melbourne. Carlton, West Coast and Hawthorn are all doing quite well after tanking, don't you think?

I don't want us to lose, but you can't tell me the Australian Test team didn't benefit from the wake-up call of a home Ashes belting.

I totally understand your side of the argument, but personally, I'm strongly opposed to it.

yep you need that absolute superstar to not only make the GF but win it which normally comes from a top 5 pick.

Collingwood - Pendlebury Pick 5, Thomas Pick 2 (Both put on immense GF performances)
Hawthorn - Franklin Pick 4 (100+ goal season, 2 goals in the GF, kept Scarlett honest and provided a target), Hodge Pick 1 (Norm Smith nuff said)
Saints - Goddard and Riewoldt (they might not have won a premiership but they sure as hell could of had 2 and make a decent example, Goddard 2 epic GF's and Riewoldt crucial in 2009 season)

Obviously flat out tanking to the point where players realise (Jamar at full back, Aaron Davey in the ruck) can be bad but subtle tanking like playing a few players out of position wouldnt hurt.
