I get it that some may feel disappointed with the final margin but let's give some credit to the opposition.

If I'm offered a 21 point win before that game is played, I'm taking it

Twice they looked done and dusted but refused to lie down. I thought the Giants ball movement was at times brilliant. I think Kingsley has the well coached and any team that underestimates them will be in for a rude shock. They mightn't make the 8 but I'm convinced that if they bring that endeavour every game they are going to upset some of the more fancied teams.

This is one of the most even seasons I can remember and if you are a bit off you will get rolled.

We need to bring it again at the Gabba against Freo next Round.

There is just no room for complacency in this comp

The expectations are too high theory I find a bit weird. With this team, at this stage of development, my expectations this year are Grand Final minimum. And with this season looking quite weak in terms of legitimate contenders so far, this is the year to snag one. That means winning these type of games at full strength against weakened mid table at best sides, easier than what we did tonight.

Happy with the win but a stronger team would have run us down

Who's a good side in the comp then? Because a stronger side did run down Melbourne last week. A stronger side would've run down the Dogs last night. A stronger side would've beaten Port today, Collingwood last weekend, and Geelong most weeks of this season.

Not that I disagree - I just think this idea that you are supposed to be at your absolute peak level of form all season long is a bit off the mark. No team ever has been or ever will be. In fact, the teams who come close (Geelong 2008, Richmond 2018) often falter at the final hurdle.

We did everything we had to do today against a team that gave all they had. Couldn't have asked for much more, I don't think.

They were in it through our lack of defensive effort in the middle. Same story with us.

I thought they stayed in it more because of their ability to transition from defence.

We missed a lot of get-able shots on goal in the last quarter, scoring 2.7 to their 3.2. There seemed to be a few two goal turnarounds, that wouldn't have occurred had we not butchered our chances.

It's not always the midfield's fault if the forwards start missing what they should kick

Rayner’s final set shot a good example. Went far side of the field and GWS were able to use the space to transition down the field and score. Doesn’t happen if he kicked even a behind.

I think it’s a good game to look at in terms of our setup when it’s in our forward 50, but GWS did really well in transition and that should not be dismissed.

How many of us are there on this forum ?

Can't even fill 2 pages after a good win.

I'm happy to bank it. We played well for a lot of the game. Got busted open a few times.

There's a couple of things that are huge question marks for me re our capacity to win a flag but just really pleased that we're up with the best teams and have some gun players who are a pleasure to watch.

For a bit perspective that was the Giants biggest losing margin of the season.

Round 1 Giants defeat Crows by 16.
Round 2 Giants lose to Eagles by 19.
Round 3 Giants lose to Blues by 10.
Round 4 Giants lose to Bombers by 13.
Round 5 Giants defeat Hawks by 2.

Round 6 We beat them by 21. They are a competitive unit every week.

Not really much to say about that game. Charlie and Payne were brilliant, Ashcroft kept showing glimpses, and we managed to hold them at arm's length for the whole game.

There were moments where I thought the game would crack open, but to the giants credit they stuck fat and managed to keep the game from being a blowout.

20-odd point win away from home with no injuries - I'll take it.

Exactly.

Sometimes we get so absorbed with what our Team is supposedly doing wrong that we fail to notice what the opposition are doing right.

It's rare in this very even, modern competition to hand out an "old fashioned" 100 point beltings. Professional footballers are conditioned to fight it out to the end. Not just for their pride but because if you turn up your toes completely, it's very difficult to take "something" into your next game. I think that's why it's difficult to win games 'going away", no matter what we as supporters expect our team to "bury" them

The 75 that we thrashed North by last week is about as good as it gets

EDIT.

Their loss to Carlton should have an asterisk beside it.

Could have (and possibly should have) won that but for an over-precious Umpire suddenly pulling a "dissent" ruling out of his bum to gift a freebie to the Blues in the final minutes of that game.

We did better than 5 teams who missed finals last year? 4 who missed by a long way

It was a good effort but we've had 4 years of good efforts with nothing to show for it

Perhaps so but we can do no more than win at this point in the season and if we get there then we find out whether we're good enough or not.

On paper this is our best opportunity . We had everything set up for us during covid but weren't quite up to it.
