You play the young KPP who's been playing in defence. Tough initiation at AFL level but back him in.
tough initiation against the best 2 KPFs in the league.

but whoever we name, we need our system to stand up. had an extra day on the pies and an easier game last week. should have been primed.

Out: Menzie, Heppell, Lav (inj)
In: Merrett, Voss, Baldwin
Duz needs a big lift
Give Hobbs a full game should have been starting 22 today not sub

From the VFL.

Bryan was good but would only come in if Flipper or Sam need to rest. He is not physically ready yet but could play in a pinch.

Mass and Hind both rested this week along with Walla so they could be fresh troops. Walla maybe sub. No VFL for us this week so there is no game for Walla to build fitness , if he is fit and has not had a set back we do not know about.

Voss was okay but would only replace one of Stringer or Langford .IMO.

Reid no chance. Only played 3/4 on Sunday. Montgomery some chance to play defense if needed.

Caldwell will get a week so Hobbs gets to stay in.

Baldwin was very poor first game back on Sunday so it may be an ask to call on him for defense.

I’d give Bryan a crack this week

Agreed, Reid would get destroyed atm, zero chance.

Caldwell def gets a week. Could have won the game if he could punch harder! was dumb thing to do.

He's an injury prone 31 year old. A 5 day break is exactly the type of game where he breaks down and misses a month.

He had a good game but you said he was recruited as a ruck, which he wasn't. He was recruited as a defender.

Phillips will definitely need to rest off a 5 day break so Bryan comes in to keep the two rucks going.
Stringer the same. Voss gets his debut after playing well in the VFL.
Well who do you propose takes Laverde's spot? Reid off half a game in the VFL?
Maybe it's Hind instead. Massimo more damaging by foot though
We said the same thing about Merrett.
Alright, let's break this down line by line:

Maybe it would've in seasons previous when he was solo rucking, but he's sharing the load with Draper nowadays so he probably gets through okay.

Doesn't detract from my point that he's done ruck work before. People went in expecting the Collingwood ruckmen to be mugs that would get destroyed, when it was always gonna be closer than that.
Phillips will definitely need to rest off a 5 day break so Bryan comes in to keep the two rucks going.
Bryan had one mark in the VFL in his second game back from injury (think it was a hammy?). He's not ready, which is the thing that is dictating which young guys get in.
Stringer the same. Voss gets his debut after playing well in the VFL.
Voss is super average. Doesn't offer the same gruntwork that Stringer was doing today. If Stringer does need a rest, Jones probably gets the nod.

Yes. If not him, Hayes in a real baptism of fire. Baldwin came back from concussion on Sunday and looked super average.

Neither offer the pressure that Davey does. Plus, he just had a rest. If any small is getting rested, it's Menzie. With Walla or Jones coming in to spell him.

They're completely different. One's a little punch with mayo added on to it. The other was a dangerous tackle during a season where the AFL is trying to legislate concussion out of the game due to impending lawsuits that'll cost them millions.

with Nick's reaction, i'd be cautious sneezing on him

Im sure Christian will have Jye locked up for 20 years though :p

On a positive note 2 sleeps to team announcement.

Let's do it again:

He's almost always played in partnership with someone, whether that be Kreuzer, Mumford, Giles or more recently Draper. So that argument doesn't stack up. He's highly likely to break down after a 5 day break.

He was a shit ruck so got moved forward. He was shit forward so got moved back. We should have destroyed their rucks. He played well, but both Flip and Draper played badly too.

Bryan plays because he was best on in the VFL of our AFL listed players. You can't accept that Phillips, if he plays, will highly likely break down. Would you rather Flip play, break down, meaning a month for Bryan? Or Bryan get a game in and Flip not break down?

Stringer needs a rest. Jones needs to gain confidence in the VFL. Voss has 12 goals from 5 games, give him his chance.

Reid is back from an injury that basically took out his entire pre-season. He's weeks away. Hayes won't play this year and rightly so. Baldwin was next can off the rank.

Uh, neither of them were replacing Davey. They were replacing Heppell. As both are currently seen as defenders. Merrett was replacing Davey.

And Merrett's was a textbook tackle. The other was also on the AFL's golden boy.

If no Laverde... hate to be cynical but Cameron/Hawkins will demolish us. We're already undersized as is
Apparently AC joint. Not sure how many weeks that translates to.

For me, Baldwin the only one who could physically compete 1 on 1. Would get beaten on the lead I think.

Need to stop the supply.

Ridley on Cameron bzt on Hawkins I don’t think it changes much. Does mont come in as a interceptor to help cover? I’m not sure but I don’t think ridley is the worst match up for Cameron. Whoever is on him is in for a tough day.

Baldwin?

Jeremy Cameron what a nightmare of an opponent.

Only issue is he was poor on Sunday in his first game back so you run the risk of brining him in off the back of two weeks out and then a sub standard performance where he was really bad all round. Could be a big ask.

I won’t have had time to recover from this loss to the Pies (that Collingwood chant shudder), and now we need to brace ourselves for the annual belting from the Cats? My goodness.
