We had been up for 6 weeks, with a tough win against Hawthorn and a bone cruncher against the form team in Adeliade. 4 walk up starters out, 2 of them stars and some sore young bodies = we were up against it. Richmond should have beaten the Weagles and the Cats at shit stadium, not bad form.

Agreed, except a bit harsh on teddy. Not easy have two hands in your back all night.

Come on now, there was one bad call, 1 questionable one and the rest he was worked over or flopped.

I'm a big teddy fan but live at the game in the pocket I was in the touches weren't worth the amount of body movement on Teddy's behalf.

On the replay in the first quarter there was a big push, one in the third that Riewoldt lost and regathered, was tackled by Richards and incorrectly disposed of the ball and the second goal of the third quarter was flat two hands in the back and shove forward.

Agreed.

Funnily enough, I feel like we haven't had a real forward line since Bradshaw got injured over 2 years ago.

Wholesale changes are usually panic driven. But a game versus Dees at SCG might be a geat time to rest Sam and give TDL, Morton, Walsh, White combo a run. At worst, we get some game time into 2nd stringers.

Agree with much that's been previously posted.

My two bobs worth - we're gonna miss Goodesy like never before. The comp is tight, teams are up'n'about and even GWS looks like taking some games away from other cellar dwellers ... no game is a gimme.

Mummy back in and LRT gives us further strengths and balance. Our defence is stretched past it's limit in recent games, we haven't put any scoreboard pressure on, slow starts have assured that and we can't rely on our traditional "catch up footy".

Improve or face struggling to make the grade.

Too many teams now who've either got or have found some mojo.

Robin Nahas cleared contact Nick Smith. Nahas did not use excessive force or drive his opponent into the ground with the tackle he applied.

I suppose the fact that Smith still has his head screwed on validates this decision.

Great post, man.

Actual analysis. 5 stars.
Cheers.
It seems like most Victorian teams have worked out a few important things about how to play us at the 'G. Last year we lost at the MCG to Richmond by 43 points, and Mattner said "the effort wasn't there" and (we) needed to lift. Same old story, missing the point IMO - Listen to him say the same thing on Swans TV this week.
If the theory is accurate, we have to hope we meet other interstate teams in the finals. Then the story might be different.

own.

By the way - Was I alone in thinking that Richmond's new Number 1 supporter is Eddie F....g Everywhere. The swans were pretty ordinary (but didnt giveup ) and richmond had their standard "on" day against us at teh MCG. But, Listening to that Collingwood prikc, you'd swear Richmond had just conquered world poverty.

I watched the replay and had to listen to his biased commentating, then I heard him on Vic radio MMM bragging about his call saying " I was calling the game for my mate Mick Malloy",one eyed richmond supporter and his morning show comedy partner, he was gloating about his bias.. seriously he is a shit radio and tv personality.. Good president and sports reporter but he is the most arrogant maggot on the airwaves, seriously spoilt the coverage.

that and the scoreboard...

I agree.

It's pathetic how so-called Swans fans turn on the team - or target certain players - like Melbourne fans down south.

In recent history, we have had ordinary losses before and come back through the season stronger than ever. It also happens that we are without Goodes, Mummy, Rohan and have had Reid struggling. We are not a team of superstars because we haven't tanked to build up a huge array of draft picks.

How would Carlton go without Judd, Kreuser and Murphy/Gibbs?

Its a long season - in an open comp - and we have shown that we can compete. Look what the Crows did to the Cats!

So may posters here expect players to show 100% commitment - but hit the panic button after one loss. Why not show some spine as a supporter and back the boys through thick and thin? There are enough eunuch suporters south of the border - like to think Swans fans are made of sterner stuff.

North or south of the border, the fckn whiny crud on this thread is laughable.

Yeah, it was a disappointing loss but I think it was Baja who finally posted that a lot of credit was due the Tigers, who took advantage of our recent awful starts and set up their win in the first quarter ... and we had no miracle comeback up our sleeve as in the Hawks game.

So what!? Look at the table; we're 5-2 and despite being useless, we lost by 29 ... take a look at some of the other results and scores in recent weeks. Even near our worst the Swans do not get flogged ...

Collingwood is seventh, and Hawthorn and Geelong right now aren't even in the top eight, yet the majority of those clubs' fans think they can still win the flag; here we are smouldering in our knickers because we dropped a game to a side a vast number on this board still refuse to respect.

You can point the finger at any number of players but who honestly thinks it's a good time to replace 8-10 players in the 22?

I'm just now reading through this game thread and it's become fckn embarrassing.

Coaches' votes

Richmond vs Sydney
8 Cotchin (Rich)
6 Foley (Rich)
5 Grigg (Rich)
5 Grimes (Rich)
2 Maric (Rich)
2 Rance (Rich)
1 Riewoldt (Rich)
1 Tuck (Rich)

Only one set of possible votes from those numbers:

5 Grigg, Grimes
4 Cotchin, Cotchin
3 Foley, Foley
2 Maric, Rance
1 Riewoldt, Tuck

Which is unusual as it shows that the player who received the top votes from one coach received none from the other.
