Very tall backline, especially if McKeever plays. If the Giants play 3 talls in Cameron, Folau and Tomlinson, we'd be best served only playing three as well. Otherwise their run will kill us. Folau lacks match smarts but is athletic. If McKeever plays, this is a good match up for him. Cameron is already their most dangerous tall, Goose has been the best performed so he should get the job. I don't think we can afford to play both Patfull and Lester in the same side, one gets the Tomlinson assignment, the other has a week off.

We have to at least try and match their run this week. If we can blast them off the park early we will be ok.

forward set up is still crap ! brown will have 3 hanging off him , big red has no idea up forward. got to rely on midfielders to kick a score

wake up voss ! if no ace then give retzy a go. send red back for gods sake

In the games Tomlinson has played this year, he's played more through the midfield than as a strict KPF. I think McKeever would be a pretty bad match-up for him. With Smith out, I'd be inclined to send Golby with him and stick Lester on Hampson (or maybe vice versa).

My impression is that he's been used as a half-forward who comes up the ground a bit. I don't think I'd play Golby on him. But Lester might be a better matchup than McKeever, now you mention it.

I don't think Hampton was selected.

Is Zorko a certainty to play? You'd think Polec, Hawksley and Mckeever (given GWS height) will all play, so it seems to come down to Zorko or Harwood for final bench spot.

I would tip Zorko for the spot, as he offers more around the goals than Harwood with Toddy out. This on the back of an impressive debut half from him last week in a sea of mediocrity as well.

Welcome also, Dare2beatthebear. Nice to have another old bears fan around :thumbsu:

Cheers. Have been lurking around here for a while, but debut post.

We're battling away right now, but having gone through the late 80's/early 90's Bears years I don't think we are, or will, get to those lows.
Building Zorko up to a full game by playing him 2-3 quarters then subbing him off would seem to be the way to go.

I would be honestly surprised if Zorko is left out of the squad.

If he play's then I suspect he will play the full match unless he starts huffing and puffing around the 3rd Quarter.

Realistically anyone on the extended bench could be left out. I think Polec and Zorko would be most safe.

an interesting observation in light of the comments made recently about needing to get respect back, that GWS (an expansion club) would consider resting players rather than fielding a full strength team against us. draw your own conclusions in regards to the respect debate.

how much respect are gws showing the lions ....

How much respect are we showing to other clubs when we rest Hudson and co?

Teams rest players all the time, GWS you would think would rest players more often due to their age and match fitness.

Brisbane did rest 2 against Collingwood. I have a feeling that Brisbane didn't do this because they disrespect Collingwood.

They have a rotation policy and rest players every single week.

I agree BS17, I think their resting is pretty innocuous. We have a resting policy, and more often than not it is because of our youngens, or our Drummo. They are bringing Buntine in, and keeping their more developed spine, so I would say that they are taking it seriously.

In fact, we are a team that they probably feel that they can beat, so they would be putting theiy best team forward to do that, you would think.

No lack of respect there, I think.

Plenty. They've obviously given up.

Okay maybe not, but Shiel, Bugg and Kennedy were all a little down last week, so I suspect they were tiring already, and would have been rested no matter who they played.

Sumner and Smith are bona fide injuries, I believe.

GWS have named the following players from the 2011 Draft:

Pick 2 - Coniglio
Pick 3 - Tyson
Pick 4 - Hoskin-Elliot
Pick 5 - Buntine
Pick 9 - Tomlinson
Pick 11 - Greene
Pick 13 - Adams

Given Longer is also playing, that makes 8 of last year's top 14 players playing in Sunday's game. Pretty remarkable.

The missing GWS players are Patton (1), Haynes (7), Sumner (10) and Smith (14). Docherty (12) is missing for the Lions.

Should be an awesome display:rolleyes::D

Doesn't look like I'll get to the game:( (arrived on GC this morning) is the game on 7mate up here and live?

I feel like I'm home every time I'm here, just love Qld!..not relevant to thread, but wanted to say it anyway.....cheers:p

Just stay MM. You know you want to.

As for this respect nonsense, I hope the players don't have some absurd "they should be showing us some respect" attitude on Sunday. Go out there & ****ing earn it. They owe us nothing, and if they smell petulant whiners, they'll do everything they can to bury them, as they should.
