MCG game should be the day game, a blockbuster Saturday afternoon.
TD should be the night game.

Wow the season's starting that late?
Usually easter hits around round 3.

Good Friday 2005 is on March 25th usual season start time is last weekend in March so this is accurate

The date for Good Friday is determined by the church as been so many days after or before a full moon and when Lent is ...which is why there is so much discrepancy.

Very pleased to finally get a home game in Melbourne after four straight away games in Round 1 and having to travel interstate for the past two years... a bonus for it to be at the MCG too - should be a ripper.

What would be good is a Syd vs Hawks Monday Night game!
Ch 9 will show the Thursday game and two of the Sunday games, probably Adel vs WC will be on Sunday too, so that will be the early game, then Ch Eddie will show the Eddiewoods vs Dogs.
Ch 10 will want to show the Ess vs Melb game into Melb and the Freo vs Port to WA/SA, and the Monday night game around Oz.
Blues, Roos, Tiges and Cats fans need to get Foxtel. :D

Don't be stupid that would mean Carlton would be on free to air on Saturday night as opposed to being relegated to Foxtel. That goes against all the rules the AFL have when releasing the fixture.

AFL Rules regarding the fixture

#1 - Limit Carltons free to air exposure.

I like this for Melbourne if the following year we get the home game. It's good to start the season against won of the big clubs.

Jesus christ... the Grand Final was played just 5 days ago, and you are already predicting the TV guide for round one, which begins in about 150 days.

Happy that the AFL have finally woken up to themselves and put Essendon back in Melbourne to start the season.

Not happy that we are playing on a Saturday night though when we could easily play the game against the Dees on Easter Monday..and get a guaranteed full house.

I would like to see Essendon travel interstate 6 times this year. One being the Marrara game against the Doggies. The dons have a huge following in Darwin......

I think the Tigers vs Cats will be on Easter Monday, the Sydney game will be the 1pm Sun start and the Adelaide game will be the later Sunday game. The AFL will want to have Easter Monday in Melbourne I think.
