Saw Elton tonight. Truly astonishing. Then came home and watched the Music Max tribute to Marie Fredrikkson.

A rather bittersweet and surreal day.

I went to two Roxette concerts in Brissy and had a teenage crush for Marie in the late 80’s. I loved their music and it was sad to witness firsthand at a concert what brain cancer had done to her. RIP Marie Fredriksson.

Yeah, on that 2015 tour Marie looked like she was just hanging on. As I recall she was on a stool all night and barely got up. A lot of her big vocal parts were done by a guest vocalist as it was clear she was struggling. When they were here a couple of years before that she looked healthy and was dynamite on stage.

Usually in this situation the comments are fairly negative on social media but when I saw them advertising the Australian shows on Facebook all the comments about the new vocalist were very positive.

Most of the comments have been positive of the new singer.. I’ve watched a few of the videos strangle with a tear in the eye.. not sure if it’s because Marie is not there or the fact I’m going to see these great songs live again.

They were fantastic last Tuesday night in Adelaide.

Lena was beautiful, and while she's not Marie, she doesn't need to be or have to be. She belted out all the classics like she owned them and has an amazing on stage presence and energy, and connected well with the band.

It was also good to see Jonas Isaacsson return after a "20 year vacation" (Per's words).

Even better? I scored another one of Per's guitar pics off the floor again. I now have two, ten years apart.

Boom Crash Opera were brilliant as well, I must say.
