Dees at Lathlain tomorrow. Important game for East Perth, with Swans playing Subi there's a chance to set up a 2 game break inside the top 2. Crucial game for Perth also to stay in touch with the top 4, if they're any shout of making the finals they've got to take a decent scalp. They've been competitive in most games this season, just seem to lose the plot for a quarter or 2 and it's done.

9 wins in a row. 14.20-11.10

Strong 1st and final quarters got the job done today. Move a game clear of Swans on top of the table.

Subi's win at Joondalup sees them move to within a game now of Swans and all but ends West Perth's chances.

Old Easts stay 4th and should stay there now, 3 games clear of West Perth with 6 left to play.

10 in a row now. Beat the Cardies on what can kindly be described as a bog at Leedy on Satuday 5.9-2.6

Easily the lowest scoring game of the day, still a good game to watch, old school wet weather footy, nothing flash, nothing fancy, just get it done.

A game clear and a game in hand on the rest of the top 4.

Must win for Subi this week, win that and we're at least locked in for top 2, a win for the munchers over Swans would make life even easier. Still got to beat Subi, they've been impressive the times I've seen them this season.

10.9-15.7

Good performance by Subi they were always in control and we never looked like catching them. Difference at the top of the table is 0.02%

Was surprised by Swans yesterday, not entirely sure what happened there. Were the Ducks that bad or the Munchers that good?

Peel shit caned Perth, right now the Dees are beginning for the season to end.

Watched a replay of the derby and Souths were really impressive, good young talent in their side, signs looks good for the new man in there.

Back in the winners circle down in Bunbury this afternoon.

Comfortable enough in the end, plenty of missed chances in front of goal, didn't have a baring on the result in the end but we'll need to be better than 14.22 in the finals. That said it was good that Big Josh was getting the shots at goal again.

14.22 106 - 11.5 71

A game and more comfortable percentage clear of Subi now with 3 to play. Looks like a EP/Subi 2nd Semi at Leederville is now a certainty with Swans having such a poor percentage.

28.14-14.6. While the scoreboard says this was a doddle the match itself was anything but. A lot of little spot fires broke out over the field with some handbags at 5 paces.

Another game where our best players were all the East Perth players as opposed to the Eagles add ons. Good to see Big Josh kick a bag.

Peel at Mandurah this week, lock in top spot with a win.

Another comfortable win in the faux "western derby" against Peel 14.21-5.9

Top spot locked in place, though it's been pretty set for a while that we'd be playing the 2nd Semi at Leederville for a while, given that Subi were the only team that could realistically topple us for the last month or so.

Finish up with Claremont at Leederville, as the Dockers will be playing at Subi to start with I will miss the first half, should be able to hop over the freeway to catch most of the 2nd half.

13.12 [90] - 7.16 [58]

It was a lot closer contest that the 5 goals win suggests, Grand Final is going to be tough regardless how many Eagles are in the squad, as we saw last year it's played on the day and Subi are more than a match for us, as are Easts. Not counting any chickens yet.

Sounds like there'll be plenty of space at Subi on 21st, all I've heard since yesterday is all these people who have ALWAYS gone to WAFL Grand Finals are going to boycott over the host club alignment. Should have plenty of room to spread out then.

Would be nice to know how many of these people who ALWAYS go to the Grand Final actually do always go. Given the fluctuating GF attendances over the last 25 years.

Even taking the previous alignment with West Coast into account the last legitimate flag we won was 2002.

Not sure what about the 2002 season seems to confuse people. There was NO alignment and the only West Coast listed players were Michael Prior (who retired at the end of the season), Jeremy Humm, Dean Buszan and Ryan Turnbull in the 2002 premiership team. Prior was an East Perth produced player to begin with and Turnbull had been with us since 1992 so the only players we got aligned to us that played in that flag were Buszan and Humm.

Also begs the question why South Fremantle under the old alignment and Peel under the current structure with Freo have won 0 flags between them in those years. The Eagles were just as shit as Freo in 2000 and only slightly better in 2001.

I don't dispute that the current set up is ****ed (see my views on the East Perth Eagles thread on this board) but the 2000-2002 period is totally different set up to what we've got now.

For those who don't know or understand or can't remember from 2000 to 2001 East Perth had all the West Coast interstate recruits aligned to them, NOT the entire West Coast squad (that was Claremont in 1999) as we do now.

2000 Callum Chambers, Josh Wooden, David Antonowicz, Michael O'Brien, Kane Munro and David Haynes line up in the GF. O'Brien had been delisted by West Coast during Grand Final week as a side note. Dean Cox was an East Perth player, rookie listed by the Eagles but already our player.

2001 against the other host club we had Antonowicz, Haynes, Humm and Turnbull in the Grand Final.

So back to your original point Demons09 unfortunately I’m going to have to disagree that the last legit flag we won was 1978 given the evidence that stacks up to the contrary.

I can understand why people want this premiership (assuming EF or Subi don't win it of course) asterisked, and are calling for boycotts and all the rest of that crap, but the hattrick at the start of the century was legitimately won by East Perth players and to suggest other wise is just misguided and showing little knowledge of what actually happened.

For the record I want to reinforce the point that I oppose the host club arrangement is all forms and this season is a farce and I wish that my club had gone nowhere near it. I think suitable arrangements for the AFL clubs should have been on the WAFL club presidents agenda before this nonsense expansion to a 5 team finals series, the host club alignment is blight on our league as it is in SA, at least there the Crows have a stand alone team not bastardised another club. I'd rather there be no AFL presence in the WAFL at all (a full AFL reserves comp) failing that they should be there own entity leaving the rest of the clubs alone. The system we've got works in Melbourne because they've got so many clubs, here it only causes needless problems.

I don't know how you can still follow EP being a Fremantle supporter, I know that if WC align with Perth which could well happen when they move out to Lathlain I will walk away.

It has crossed my mind more than once since the announcement was made but I find it hard to break the habit of a lifetime and I'm betting on this host club arrangement being short term. To a certain extent I'm hoping to see the other 7 WAFL clubs grow some balls and call for an end to the alignment in the next few weeks, but I won't be holding my breath. Afterall the other clubs who love to bitch about the East Perth and Peel host club arrangements did agree to it.

That last real flag since 78 line is BS.

We won 2002 in our own right, and when you look at other WAFL premiership teams Claremont had 10 players from memory in their 2011 premiership team.

I take your point it's shit, but clubs have had far more AFL listed players, even EF in the 2012 GF, they had 12 AFL listed players. Far more than those in the 2000-01 EP premiership teams.

This is the first year that EP have had a full alignment like the east coast AFL clubs have with their feeder clubs.

I am a lifetime Royals supporter and 25 year Eagles member so, for me,the alignment is a marriage made in heaven!
I embrace any player who wears the best jumper in the land (the royal blue and black) and even though I loathe everything about Fremantle, I supported Fremantle players who were "drafted" to East Perth under the previous arrangements. In fact, I still have a soft spot for Zac Clarke.

Just on the subject of the alignments, it amazes me that the supporters of the 7 other clubs do not seem to feel the same angst against Peel. Peel are paired with a club who finished top four and yet they finished 8th. If in fact the alignments were going to make East Perth and Peel somehow super clubs due to the AFL influence, then why aren't Peel where East Perth are? Perhaps the strength of the East Perth players needs to be recognised!

They've always hated us anyway so the host club just adds a little more petrol to the fire. A small part of the reason why I haven't walked away from East Perth (and the WAFL as a whole) is the hysterical reactions of some of the supporters and presidents of the other 7 clubs. The reaction of some of the West Perth supporters after they won the flag last year was priceless, more seemed concerned about the fact East Perth lost than their team winning the premiership.

In reality the other 7 clubs are just as responsible for the current arrangement as East Perth and Peel, they had plenty of opportunities to agree to other models, they were just too busy hanging out for the most money they could screw out of the AFL clubs. So the supporters of the 7 non aligned WAFL clubs should go speak to their club president and ask them the real reason we've got this current set up instead of worrying about asterisks next to East Perth premierships.

Here's an interesting history lesson from the annals of Big Footy. Just as much hysteria 13 years back as there is now.

Listened to the future of football on the radio tonight. Some interesting stuff like the new stadium arrangement. It will deliver the WAFC 1 million a year The current Subiaco arrangment deliver 15 million a year..The Wafl might fold in the next decade with a luxury tax against our afl clubs taking money out of Wa.

As a Swans supporter I get a real laugh with all the West Perth v East Perth debating on the Wafl online forum. The Cardies are filthy about EP being in the GF, host club arrangment, and the fact they didnt make the finals.

I could be wrong but I think you might be counting former AFL players in your Claremont and East Freo tallies?
