Apparently the official team will be announced in April. Leaving out the best of Britain e.g. Murphy, Reilly, Watson, Bevan, Hanley etc, I expect this will be very close to the team they pick. Not many spaces available for modern day players.

So who gets left out then - Gasnier, Fulton or Messenger?

Personally, I think the choice between Brett Kenny and Lewis is a matter of personal preference, a bit like Ricky Stuart vs Langer. In their prime both Kenny and Lewis were close to perfection, as I expect Bob Fulton, Gasnier and Messenger were. I'd take Kenny over Lewis myself, but I never saw Lewis in the QRL that much, only for the Broncos from 1988 when he was past his prime.

I'd also take Sterling over Johns because I think Johns is tainted by having 3 of his Newcastle teammates (MacDougall, Max Richards and O'Davis) caught for performance enhancing drugs. Where there's smoke, ther's fire.

Elias doesn't have much hope either but yes, he is better than Steve Walters. IMO Kerrod was better than Steve.

Despite that, Lewis must be in the side.

Not than Price he wasn't. Mark Graham was better than all of them. Just played for a team that was crap all his career so didn't get the accolades.

Matter of opinion I suppose. I'd rate ANY of those locks as top class; it is a position that Australia seems to have a plethora of good players in over the last 40 or so years. Before Raper got the position we had Ron Lynch ; and HE was a top player at lock as well as in the second row too !

Langlands on the wing seems an odd choice. I'd have Horder or Grothe or any one of half a dozen other players on the wing ahead og Langlands ! If he is in the team to provide goalkicking i'd sooner have Brown playing in the centre and a real winger on the wing (Horder, Grothe, King, Cleary, Moir, Carlson any of a dozen wingers would be preferable to Langlands !)
